Dressing up Cream of Wheat

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I've tried a little unsweetened applesauce and it was ok but I'm trying to find more ideas to give it some flavor.

I like to add a packet of Stevia to sweeten it up a bit. Once you can have nuts and seeds, a few sunflower kernels or nuts are good. I also like to add some blueberries on occasion. A little sprinkle of cinnamon or even pumpkin pie spice is also tasty, or you can try a little sugar free flavored coffee creamer.< /p>

Cream of Wheat has a fantastic Bananas & Cream flavor in the the individual packets. My neighborhood grocery store carries it and a few other "flavored" types right with the oatmeal- I wholeheartedly recommend it! I'd also recommend mixing it with hot milk rather than water- it gives it a creamier texture, plus will give you some of that Calcium we all need.

1. Apple cider powdered mix

2. sugar free jam ( I put s/f apricot jam in yogurt to help me tolerate a med that I have to crush)

I was wondering about the flavored ones but I notice they are made with sugar so I bought the plain instead. I definitely like it made with milk!

Try a little bit of REAL maple Syrup. Yes it has sugar but at least it's natural, not high fructose corn syrup. AND you only need about a tsp to make it taste awesome. I don't know about you all, but I did not have this surgery with the intention of never eating anything "good" ever again. I do not want to "diet". I want to make healthier choices and take advantage of the restriction so that when I do eat something with sugar I will only have a small amt. I have also heard that after surgery many people get more sensitive to sweet foods and eat less. I say go for the good stuff! Just use common sense and moderation.

I was a HUGE fan of cream of wheat prior to my surgery, and I have only tried it once since. I was only able to consume maybe two teaspoons of it, broken up into very small bites before I felt ridiculously full! Now I am afraid to try it again but It has been a horrible craving of mine ever since surgery, I believe because during my pregnancy with my daughter I was sick the entire time with constant nausea and vomiting. Cream of Wheat was one of the only things I could keep down and now whenever I am sick I want it. For me it's a comfort food and as most of you know, this surgery takes away most of those!

Cream of Wheat with butter and brown sugar. You had surgery! You didn't give up food entirely :) Instant single packet, 1 pat of butter and a spoonful of brown sugar. Just like a "normal" serving (not like how much we ate pre surgery ).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
