Honestly I think I have tried them all. Liquid shakes I can do like Atkins or premier but if it's powder even if I put it in the blender it won't stay down. I'm 15 months post op tomorrow. I can tolerate almost anything on plan now but those just don't work. Anyone else have this issue? It's not a flavor or taste thing it's the texture. Sent from my 5056N using BariatricPal mobile app

I have had non stop diarrhea since two days after I came home from the hospital. I had been constipated for 9 days and thought I'd have a really tough time the first time my bowels moved, but boy was I wrong. I just had the urge to go and bam! It was a case of the squirts that hasn't stopped now for three days....and I'm only on clear liquids and 6 ounces of protein drink. Is this normal?? Are we allowed to take Immodium?

My mom had gastric bypass surgery last Wednesday. She was given morphine intravenously then a lower strength “cocktail” by mouth for pain while in the hospital. She was given liquid lortab to go home with. She only took one dose of the liquid lortab on Saturday and it was only 5ml instead of the 15ml as prescribed(and no more since then). She was released on Friday and on Saturday she started to get loopy and unlike herself. She’s even had hallucinations. It’s now Tuesday and she’s still out of it and seeing things and overall confused. Is it normal to still be under the effects of the anesthesia/morphine, or is this cause for concern? Her blood sugars are low which could…

Hi all Day 19 post op. I had open surgery to remove a band and do a bypass. The “two week” stall seems to have broken, down almost 2 lbs in 2 days. I am walking Daily now - a mile yesterday. Fatigue is passing - no longer needing a mid afternoon sleep. I am getting in about 600-700calories a day, about 50g protein, and can happliy eat soft, well chewed solid food. Am slowly starting to learn my new tummy’s delicate feedback mechanisms. My glitchy time is after breakfast. I rise, maybe 6.15am (morning person). Sip some water while feeding the dogs. Have a decaf coffee. Shower, then 100g high-protein yoghurt. 10mins later, very tired and need a lie down f…

Anyone else having side effects from the pre-op diet? I'm on it 6 days and have come out in a rash on part of my stomach. Bit odd. Wondering if it's the sudden change in food because that's the only change I've made. Anyone else experience similar?? Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

I had surgery on August 10th 2017 and I only lost 40 pounds in 4 months. I’m following the diet and getting my water intake and protein intake. So I was wondering if it’s ok to have the Sleeve done even though I had the Bypass?

I keep seeing post where people are losing all this weight right after surgery and I’m 4 weeks post op and have lost 14 pounds. And I’ve been at this weight for like the last 2 weeks. And it just goes up and down by like 2 pounds. Nothing is happening. What am I doing wrong. Am I eating too much? Too little? Not enough water. I’m going nuts. And I only try and weight myself every few days. I’m trying not to obsess but I feel like that’s a long time eighth at the beginning for nothing to be happening. Any advice or help you guys can offer up would be great.

Hello, Bariatric Buddies! TOMORROW is my big day! After about 32 years of being in the range of chubby to overweight to morbidly obese, TOMORROW is the day I take back my life! So excited and nervous! I have been wanting RNY for about 14 years now! I almost did it twice in the past, two false starts...looks like the third time is the charm! Excited and nervous. Packing my bag tonight OF COURSE I have been a procrastinator! Eating Sugar-Free Jello and water until my eyes pop (3 Day Clear Liquid Diet pre-op!) and I already lost about 10 pounds before... Would LOVE a Surgery Twin for the RNY or at least someone in the same week as me! <3 Thank you all for b…

Hi All, 6 more sleeps. Getting a bit nervous. But I feel prepared and, thanks to you all, informed. Smelly gas, breath, pain, fatigue, etc. And I know there is no rush, but... Go on, cheer a girl up - how long until I drop a trouser size?? I am a 20 now. Will I still be a 20 in six weeks when I go back to work??

First time posting here- Had my revision from lap band to RNY yesterday. It’s not as bad as I had built up in my head. Took a while for anesthesia to wear off. I had ice chips first, then water, and a sugar free popsicle last night. Everything is going down ok. The gas pain is the worst part but it’s tolerable. Walking helps. Hoping to go home today. The hospital bed is uncomfortable and people come in and out of my room constantly, so I’m looking forward to a good night sleep. The actual incision sites are not very painful. Feels like I did a bunch of sit ups. Peeing feels a little weird. Who knew we used so many abdominal muscles to pee. I also have cotton mouth, which …

Let me give you some background on this amazing story yesterday was my birthday it was supposed to be a glorious day where my family celebrates the fact that I am alive. Sadly my glorious day was not so glorious. Christmas day I came down with a slight fever nothing huge 99-100 but enough to make you feel kind of bad, so I take some Tylenol and hit the sack I wake up to breakfast in bed, a lovely filet mignon (I am on a protein only diet) that was lovingly grilled it was amazing; I also woke up to a 100.8 fever. Again I take some Tylenol but I still feel miserable its all in my chest so my husband runs me up to the store to get something to give me some relief. I go t…

Hi everyone. My first time on this. My surgeon told me about it. I have my surgery scheduled for Jan 12th 2018. I'm excited but also very nervous. It's been a long road to here. Any advice? Dos/don'ts? I'm looking forward to finally getting a handle on my weight. I just want to be healthy. My family are afraid of the surgery but supportive of my decision. How much is my life going to change? I'd love to hear about the good and the bad. Anything any of you could tell me would be really appreciated. Sent from my Moto G (5) using BariatricPal mobile app

5 days post op (12/20) and doing ok! No cravings but having to realize what I think is a sip isn’t . Gas pains from that lesson. What are folks experiences with the scale? Out of curiosity I weighed myself this morning and I’m down 4 lbs but of course that’s likely a misread due to liquid diet?? Does the weight go back up when you switch food stages?

Hi Everyone! 12/12/17 is my lucky revision date and I’m not nervous at all. I️ feel like my band failure was all my fault but the more I️ read about how much the band fails, I️ don’t feel so terrible about myself. I’m even excited about my upcoming liquid diet! Anyway, for those of you who have done a revision, what do you wish someone would have told you? For instance, my friend who got the bypass told me he’s much more gassy than before. Are there any things that came unexpected to you? Something you wish someone would have told you? Also, for those kind enough to reply, can you tell me how much you lost in the first six months (total or without liquid diet included)? T…

Soooo....I'm scheduled for surgery a week from today. Today I seem to have the sniffles (in an office full of people with colds). I've been taking zinc for the last few days and have been using hand santizer religiously, so hopefully this is just a hint of a cold that will never become anything. However, I would love to hear from anyone who started with a cold before surgery. How were you feeling? Did they postpone or keep you on the schedule? (If this turns into anything I will call my surgeon's office so they can advise on what to do.)

Hi All, I think changing my type of food will be easy but regulating my (usually front end loader style) eating speed is likely to be a challenge. 5 days post op, ate 3 tspns of yoghurt today over 40 minutes. Wow. I’d love to hear how fast others eat, and how you learned to regulate it? Thanks team!

Hi all I had my broken gastric band out and revision to RNY on Thursday 16th (4 days ago). Due out of hospital on 23rd, but I am being discharged today as it has gone so well! Why so long? My surgeon only does this by open surgery. Compared to the band, it has been a breeze! Good pain management, and I have had no nausea at all. Lots of sleeping, 1/2 watching tv. Day 2 (Friday) ice chips Day 3 Water, 30ml an hour, and clear broth for dinner Day 4 Water, 60ml an hour in the morning, Apple juice 90ml afternoon. Day 5 1tspn yoghurt for Breakfast, two tsp puréed fish for lunch. Once I go, it is back to liquids for a week, but we all kno…

Does anyone know if it's safe to take a muscle relaxer? I've had Gastric Bypass and I'm close to being 8 months out from surgery. Is it an NSAID or something completely different or do I just have to stick with taking Tylenol for the rest of my life when Tylenol does absolutely nothing? The reason I'm asking is because I have really bad chronic migraines and sometimes I can't even do anything about them until I see my neurologist for a botox injection which is every three months. Sometimes I can make the appointment and when I can't, I have to wait an extra month on top of what I was already waiting and the pills I'm taking that I was prescribed kind of acts like the Tyle…
