Hi Everyone! I start my liquid diet next week and completed my orientation yesterday. I’d love to see everyone’s stats! Sex: Surgery Date: Starting Weight Pre Liquid Diet: Current Weight: A goal I’ve set for myself is to lose 100 lbs in the first year, which I think is doable. I’m gonna miss sugar but I’m so tired of being fat that I think I can get over it. I’ve even committed to therapy if needed. Anyone have any regrets?

I had revision from band to rny on 11/13. Good Lord I feel terrible. I'm very sore, and nauseous. I have been able to get at least 60 oz of fluid down so that's good. My surgeon does not believe in sending patients home with any pain meds, and are giving me a hard time about refilling the Zofran. They sent me home with five Zofran, that's it. I guess because I know how my previous surgery went, that I was sent home with pain meds to last a few days I'm a little irritated. I know that having bypass is so different then band, I feel very strange. How long until I feel better? Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi, I am 5 weeks out from having gastric bypass. I have lost 39 pounds since surgery. I was given the all clear and able to resume normal foods. My problem is that I don't know how much I should be eating. I was told to expect a tightness in my chest when I was full but I have yet to feel it. I make my self stop eating out of fear that I am eating too much. I do get a full feeling around my belly area which goes away after a few minutes. Please tell me how much is too much. I am absolutely terrified that I am going to screw this up. I am truly at my wits end. An example of what I have eaten today. Breakfast : 1 Carmel premier protein shake. Lunch : 2 slices of Black Fores…

I have had such a great experience with gastric bypass I needed to share it with people who are concerned or are having doubts. There are a lot of posts out there where people have had a hard time before during and after the surgery so I thought I should set the record straight. My experience was great from the start. The liquid diet the week before surgery was a lot easier than I thought it would be and I lost 15lbs. The surgery was uneventful with no pain other than hurting when I coughed, laughed or rolled over in bed but that only lasted about a week. At first I found myself either eating too fast or too much but your body punishes you for that so you learn …

Just curious to know if anyone continued to use birth control pills after their surgery and how effective was it? I am seeing mix reviews with weight gain & weight loss however I tried to get the IUD 2 days ago & it was no success(no kids so extremely painful) I am not concerned about the kids part I just have bad uterine polyps that occur so birth control helps but as stated before I’ve read that the pills may not be that effective... just wondering about birth control options anyone may have found.

I finally have a date after going through this process for over 1 year: 11/13/17! It's been slow and agonizing, but I'm glad that it is finally here. Just had pre-op yesterday, so I'm ready to go. I'm having an RNY and removal of the hated lap band. What a waste this lap band was. I lost tons of weight in the first year, but failed after that. The band more likely wasn't the issue it was the person who harbored it. I've long since have changed my eating habits and now watch what I put into my mouth. Mostly fruits, veggies, and lean meats. My problem is on the weekends. My food monster shows its horrible face every Saturday and Sunday. I will have to work on t…

  22. Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am in the beginning processes of getting bypass surgery. I'm getting the Roux-en-Y procedure and mainly I'd love to make new friends who are going through the same process as me. No one in my immediate friend or family group get it! None of them understand, truly understand why I want to do this. Sometimes I want to wack them in the forehead and say HELLLOOOO DO YOU NOT SEE HOW BIG I AM? Anyway I'm a social butterfly, I like making new friends, I would be open to meeting people in my area, or even having a pen pal. Hope to hear back from you guys! Thanks.

I'm 3 weeks post op I keep having pain in my chest area between the bottom of my neck and right above my breast. I take minimum sips and I still get it but not as much. Is this normal for gastric bypass. It feels so abnormal. I feel like it is air pressure. It is beyond annoying and I wish I could prevent this from happening. At the hospital I remember them doing a test on me to check the placement of things post op and they said the fluid I swallowed went down very slow. I was very nauseated for 3 days and had a lot of trouble getting anything down. They prescribed me reglan for 10 days and I've been taking promethazine for occasional nausea. Hgb A1C is 5.7, and have been off weekly Trulicity injections since just prior to surgery, Cholesterol 168 total (HDL, LDL good), Triglycerides down from 168 to 101 and my weight down 30 lbs. - I've had a few wt. loss stalls, but can't complain! Absolutely NO reflux since surgery, and it was severe before. I have been off Cholesterol med. since before surgery & can stay off. Praise the Lord, I feel very blessed!

So it's been mostly good. I made the transition from liquids to puree with no problem and appreciated the advice about not stressing about calories, just water & protein. It made things seem a lot easier. I have transitioned to soft foods; my brave try with salmon was not a good thing, but did learn a great lesson that eating too fast is a very bad idea! I'm doing well, although kind of tired of the same things. There are a lot of recipes, but it makes so much and you eat so little that there are lots of leftovers! My weight has gone down from 197+ to 162 today, and I've lost about 50" from all over (apparently even on my feet as shoes are suddenly too big.…

Have you ever had just "one of those days"? You know the kind that you don't feel well but you're not sick? The kind that makes you just want to go home from work and curl up in your bed and sleep all day and all night? Yep. It's that kinda day for me today. I think a lot of it has to do with my SAD and it's flaring cause it's overcast, gloomy and cold out. I don't want to do anything. How do you get out of this mood/feeling? (Sorry I know this is not WLS related but I know you will understand. )

So the time has come. Im so nervous and excited. I attended a seminar required by the hospital that I'm getting my surgery at. One of the requirements is that I quit smoking one month before my first appointment with the surgeon because they do a blood test. I made my appointment the other day and I will be two days shy of one month of non-smoking. I was a very light smoker to begin with maybe two cigarettes a day if that sometimes. Does anyone know if I need to schedule my appointment out further or if I'd be okay? I've done some research online it's just been kind of wishy-washy any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you so much you guys in advance. Feels so good…

I havent discussed this with my doctor yet because it happens about a couple times a week but it can last all day. I know that a couple of times when I had to deal with constipation and I strained myself my stomach muscles became sore but I dont have constipation anymore. So please let me know if you experienced this. I would appreciate it. I will call my doctor today and ask but I also would like to hear from anyone and their experience with this. Thank you
