Would like to see if there is a group near Bentonville, Arkansas of weight loss surgery patients who have had surgery recently.

  2. I healed beautifully from surgery. Two weeks out, feeling great...then it hit me. I have an intercostal muscle pull! Rib pain hurts!!! I have NO IDEA how it happened. It just went, BAM! Goes from my spine all the way around to my side. I went to the doctor, barely able to move. They sent me to the ER immediately to double-check it wasn't a lung puncture issue or blood clot, since I was hunched over in so much pain and so tender to the touch. After bloodwork, a CTscan and Xrays of my chest, I was cleared that yes, this was what I told them I thought it was! I appreciated their precaution either way. So, now I'm dealing with this. Getting over surgery was easier …

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group and excited about connecting with people in a similar situation. I had my surgery in 2003. I was extremely happy at 180lbs as I'm 5'10" so it was proportioned just right. Over the past 4 years I started gaining weight. Deaths, stress and depression just took over my life and I stopped focusing on myself. The bad news is I gained almost 100lbs back but the good news is that I just found out my pouch is still small and has no leaks. My tool is still functioning properly I just need to use it. I'm looking for anyone in a similar situation so we can support each other with this journey.

Jas Lap band in 2012, revision will be December. Diet 1st time around involved counting protein, eating protein first, a lot a protein shakes... Had my nutrition "class" and they did not once mention protein. No joke. They believe it is an old school way of thinking. That as long as you eat real food, measured out, you will be fine. No shakes after week 2. No eating every 4 hours. Eat 3 meals per day, no snacking. I'm confused. I thought I knew what to do. Now I don't. What have you found to be the recommended plan? Had my first appointment of 6 scheduled.. and I've had several people ask me if I'm just at that point in my life where I feel this is necessary.. some of the few people I've told feel I'm not "big enough" for the surgery. I feel miserable though and I've tried everything.. I guess I just need help relating to others at this point or something. I'm 5'1 215lbs..

Anyone have partial blockage after surgery? Bypass on 8/1. About two weeks ago, was severely constipated but managed to evacuate most of my bowels though I felt it wasn't entirely. Since then I've had either diarrhea or string poop, so think there's still something blocking my bowels partially. Ugh this is gross! Anyhow I'm doing miralax three times a day and a suppository every couple of days. Smooth move tea too. Will this eventually work or do I just need to go to my gastroenterologist? I'd rather avoid that if possible but don't want to make myself sick.

This is my first post, and it may be an odd question... I have my first appointment with my surgeon on 9/21 to decide what kind of surgery I want to do, the sleeve or bypass. I likely will do bypass but want to hear his recommendation. I have some image problems related to my weight, which I am sure many of us have and had and I'm definitely not my issues are any different than anyone else's but I will have to wait at least 6 months for the surgery and that's probably for the better as I will meet with the nutritionist and have several appointments to check in with the doctor before the big day. Right now, at the weight I am at, I just feel like it's such a long…

I hear a lot of people say their hormones are all over the place and they are depressed or angry after surgery. Just wonder if there's any difference for those of us who are post-menopausal.

  14. I am 4 years post op and my Dr has retired due to medical issues. His office is just gone. I have tried to find my records because I am due to have labs drawn to check all my vitamin levels. Wondering if anyone knows all the vitamins they check so that I can have my PCP keep a check on them from now on. They referred me to another Dr who wants $250 to establish me as a new patient before they will even order my labs. I am not having any problems and haven't in years just need my labs checked. I have not had surgery, it's a ways down the road but I currently hate exercise. After you had your surgery and if you did start exercising was it more because you had a boost to your ego and just felt better about yourself or was it the fact that you were just more comfortable and able to do more or a little bit of both? I'm hoping I'll start to be more apt to exercise once I see results.

Hey guys, I'll be going next Thursday for a revision to gastric bypass due to reflux, and I'm also having my gallbladder removed. Has anyone had the revision from Sleeve to bypass for reflux? How was it afterwards? Did you have to start your diet stages all over again? And also even though it's not for a weight loss reason, will you still lose weight ?

So im going to have an operation in the morning to fix my "candy cane syndrome". i had several attacks of pancreatitis and upon getting a scope done with my bariatric doctore, we found what was potentially the cause. Right where the stomach is attatched to the small intestine, my intestine has what was comparable to a bubble on a tire. A weak spot that has ballooned out. No getting past it , it has to be fixed before something happens. I had several bouts of bowel obstruction, followed by pancreatits. Talk about pain ! nothing can compare to the pain I experienced....Has anyone ever had any experience with this syndrome? what was your outcome? tell me about your experie…

I have been battling asthma for over 40 years. I have taken medication for this condition for over 10 years. I have noticed that after my RNY gastric bypass surgery, my condition improved. At around 3 years post-op, I reduced my medication in half without any ill effects. I am now over 4 years post-op and a week ago I ceased taking this medication completely. So far I have not felt any ill effects. So I was wondering if any others with this condition have experienced similar results. When I did a simple search on the internet, it seems like I might not be the only one. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25934136 reports research that concludes Bariatric surge…

I can't tolerate some basic foods still and may never. Scrambled eggs and chicken come right back up, for example. I am supposed to be getting 80-100 grams of protein in a day now. Wish I could tolerate more foods! Here I am two days before surgery and then two days ago. Went from size 22 pants to size 16. Tops were 3x and now XL. That's the fun part!

I was in the ER last week for kidney stones and was given pain medicine while I was there. At first, I figured that's why I haven't had a movement but I'm a week out and still nothing. I took some Milk of Magnesia this morning and still nothing. Any ideas? Tips?

I initially thought I just pulled a muscle, but after a week of constant pain I called the doc who thinks it's my gallbladder. Went for an ultrasound this morning & waiting for results.

Last Sunday around 0100 in the morning, my wife heard a noise, went down to my home office, and I was passed out on the floor, having hit my head when I fell. She couldn't rouse me, so called 911, and when the paramedics came, they checked my blood glucose, and it was down to 55 (!). I was taken to the ER, given IV glucose, and then orange juice and peanut butter and crackers and it finally got up to 95, and they released me. I had RnY in Feb, 2015, at Rose Medical Center, Denver, CO, by Dr. Michael Snyder. Prior to that, I had Type II diabetes, and was on a lot of drugs. I lost 110 lbs the first year, and was able to go off all meds except for metformin. My A1C…
