I was sleeved on 8/14 & just got home from my 2 week post-op with the surgeon. Excited to see I am down 20 lbs in two weeks. Even more excited to start purees and soft foods today!!!! That first bite of cottage cheese was delectable. The first 10 days were rough for me, but my body has seemed to have adjusted somewhat. I'm feeling a lot better, almost like this may just be worth it. (If you had asked me on day 10, I probably would have chewed your head off--either from anger or hunger.) Here's to the next phase of my journey!

Week one is over and it was hard! I craved food mentally and then physically when I developed thrush. I had no idea I had it even with all the signs like hard to swallow pills and congestion feeling, coated tong, and intolerance to ensure and protein. Two days with nothing but Powerade and water was killing me. No one speaks about the hunger and food cravings in the beginning. I had my first pre op appointment today exactly 8 days after my gastric bypass. I will say my stomach feels great not too much pain other then the thrush issue. Good heads up if you do sugar free popsicles don't do the ones with the cream back to back. I did however have to change my liquids for my …

It is incredibly freeing to not feel the need to indulge in food. I have been so lucky to not expire either any cravings so far post op. I love being able to go to an ice cream shop with my family and just socialize with them while they have their treat. I know never feeling hungry will eventually fade, but I am encouraged be the healthy habits I have established to date. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 230.2

Hi, I had a band fitted 6 years ago of which worked really well for first few years and then it all went horribly wrong. I had to have it removed early March of this year. I'm now free falling and I need to do something soon, before I pile every ounce back on! I've read up on benefits of both bypass and sleeve but hoping someone out there would just tell me what one to go for! Anyone? No..?? Ok...does either one's benefits outweigh (boom boom!!) the other?? thanks in advance! ?

Where are all you baby boomers? I had surgery on 9/24...two weeks ago. Down 40 before surgery...20 after...60 total. I did lots of prep before surgery (exercise...lean green diet 3 months...immense amount of research) . So glad i did...sailed through surgery and in only 2 weeks feeling great! We baby boomers are tough. I still have 100 lbs to go but have a new lease on life...never too old to learn...look out to my grandkids...her comes a new granny...lucky if you can keep up with her! 9. 4 days post-op from gastric bypass. So far everything is healing up well and I have been compliant with all dietary limitations. Every single night, my dreams have been extremely food oriented, more than I've ever experienced before? Is this common? Thus far I've dreamt about: chocolate covered cinnamon rolls, making and eating homemade biscuits, crinkle cut fries, and deep fried cod? These things were all within the context of other things going on in my dreams..but it's all very vivid. Fortunately I'm not driven to actually want that stuff. But I am very aware of the fact that my stomach is "meh" about food, but my brain still hasn't quite synced up. And I'm not tak…

  11. So in 2012 I had the sleeve done in Mexico and was pretty successful initially. At that time my highest weight was 270 and with the sleeve I lost almost all of my excess weight. However, after 2 years I ended up getting pregnant again and not long after giving birth separated from my husband. So, long story short, I battled a severe depression and not only regained all of my weight but added another hundred pounds to it! My highest weight was 361, and about 7 months ago I began looking into revising to a bypass. I was put on a 6 month doctor supervised diet, and lost about 20 pounds, and am currently waiting to meet with my surgeon. My insurance approved me so far, …

I'm very emotional and I feel like no one understands. I don't have anyone to talk to. I just want others opinions on what they would do if they were me...I had the Sleeve done 4 yrs ago. After having it I lost 117 pounds. Felt great was on cloud 9. Then got divorced and picked up drinking. Gained ALL of my weight back. Been and continue counseling. Have no desire to drink anymore. I was offered bypass by my surgeon. I am so scared of failing again. I have a 10 year old son, I'm scared of complications and being "rearranged". I'm worried because if I failed the first time, why wouldn't I fail the second time???? Please help. Would you do it?

I know they say if you are younger sometimes it can bounce back a bit. Also depends on weight and all that though. If you guys have pics I'd love to see. If you had surgery to remove the excess please let me know your stories. How long you waited. Cost and any info you can give me.

I am 10 days post-op and very discouraged about my weight loss. I weighed 318 before my pre-op diet. The day of surgery I weighed 305. I was thrilled about that. I came home from the hospital two days later and weighed 313! I realize that they pumped me full of fluids and that is why but it was rather depressing. Today I weighed myself and I'm 304. That's only 1 pound from my pre-surgery weight. It's just so discouraging. I've weighed this amount the last three days. I'm following my post-op diet to the letter. I'm getting in my water. I'm trying to move and walk as much as I can. It's so discouraging to be doing everything the doctor says and not really seeing results.

Hey everyone, i am new to this forum. I have band to bypass revision on March 24th of this year. I feel like I have hit quite a few stalls since surgery. I have lost about 49 pounds since surgery. While I'm happy with that I wish it was a bit more. I drink about 64 to 72 ounces of water a day and try to eat about 60 to 80 grams of protein a day. I broke my ankle late last year which I am still in the process of rehabbing so exercise isn't the best at the moment. Just curious if anyone else is hitting several stalls at 5 months out or if you have any ideas for breaking stalls? Anything worked well for you? Thanks so much in advance.

  26. Hi. My name is Deb and I had my gastric bypass surgery on Nov. 11, 2014. I'm looking to either start or join an "in person" support group in the Charlotte, NC area. As we go through this process, it's no secret that we have questions, have days of frustration, and sometimes just need to "vent" a little. I'm thinking we can meet either at the homes of those in the group on a rotating basis, or at some public location like a Starbucks or something similar. Anyone interested??? If so, please respond, and we'll see what we can get going. Deb

Hi - just wanted to start a new thread for those of us who had our surgery last month. Hoping to get to know you guys. In the past, I've found on-line forums to be amazing support if we engage. Anyway - I'm one week post-op. Still having pain. Luckily, I'm not hungry. Trying to get in all of my fluids. Oh - and today was the first day I weighed what I did when I went in for surgery. I gained 14 pounds in the hospital. I know it's fluids, but wow! So hoping everyone is doing well.

This is not affiliated with a hospital, doctor, or insurance; instead, it is to fill in the gap for those who want support but may not have these resources available. It will be facilitated by the following: Co-facilitated by Michelle C., who successfully shed 150 lbs. pre- and post- surgery. & Gayle Rose, certified weight loss management specialist, health coach and fitness trainer. We'll meet for an hour discussing support topics around weight loss surgery. First Meeting: Wednesday, November 2, 20167:00 PM to 8:00 PM St…

I was getting along fabulously until at about 6 months I awoke from a deep sleep with the strongest bile in my mouth I have ever experienced. It reoccurred in a few weeks, then I started having stomach pains in my lower left quadrant, AND periodic heartburn during the day. My docs said it was two different problems: a) I needed to start a probiotic, and switch from tums and rolaids to prilosec for two weeks. I did this, and it worked for a week, then started again. Now I do Ranotine or prilosec nearly every day, and LOTS of ant-acids in between. My local (non-bariatric) doc says it may be for the rest of my life.
