I've been slow and steady the whole time. RNY 8/21/17 and down 30 lbs. I average 700 Cals/daily and I get in my water and protein. I'd love to lose a big chunk all at once but it just hasn't happened. I keep reading stories of people having the weight melt off...normal??? SW:256 CW:226

I was sleeved 9/26/2017. And my starting weight was 287. I lost 40 pounds before surgery and only lost only 14 pounds after surgery. So I am weighing 233lbs. I wasn't getting in any calories to burn anything so I started soft food and vitamins and started going back to the gym doing 30 minute cardio on the treadmill and 30 minute resistance training. Hopefully the scale will start moving. I haven't been able to eat much I get full really fast. Anybody has any good workout routines that has been working for them and dont mind sharing. 4. Hi all. Oct. 5th is going to be my 6 months post op. Right now I'm down 86lbs 270->184. Still having trouble with water and vitamins but I'm very happy with my progress. This is with no gym. Now that I'm closer to my goal weight I'm going to start working out. Any other 6 monthers? Sorry for the underwear pics. The ones on the left I took the morning if surgery, on the right was this am. Hi all, I am wondering how people told friends they were thinking of getting WLS. I decided to tell my two best friends who happen to be a couple. They weren’t supportive like I thought they were going to be. They kept telling me that with the gastric bypass people only lose 10kgs which I know is not true. But no matter how much information I told them about it, all they did was turn it around into a negative. They told me that they would always support me even though they think that me getting this surgery is wrong. I don’t know what to feel right now, part of me doesn’t want to involve them at all but another part of me wants to have friends that will be there and suppo…

I had my RNY over 13 years ago and have been blessed with not a single post op problem or complication less gall bladder removal one year post op. For the last 48 hours I have had constant abdominal pain in the umbilicus area. It doesn't get worse or less after eating. Pepto (my friend for years [emoji5]) and Alka Seltzer are no help. I feel (and look) bloated. I thought it was a stomach bug but feel that this is different. Any ideas from anyone out there?

This past April I was DX with a bleeding ulcer and my HGB was all the way down to 7.4 and I needed a blood transfusion. My levels of HGB keep going up and down and iron levels are always low. About 2 weeks ago I tried to receive iv iron infusion however had a bad reaction. I am scheduled for an endoscopy tomorrow but wanted to seek help with questions I have. If I do the scope and no bleeding is found why does my HGB drop down to 8 and back upto 10 again? I cannot understand this! Also if I react to the iron infusions what is the next step? Any suggestions are welcome. One last thing I follow a good diet but don’t eat much however when I do eat there are times I throw up …

Hi, I’m 21 and going through the process of getting sleeved. I’ve went to my first seminar, did my blood work, did my psych evaluation, got my insurance approved (HAP), and next week is my surgeon consultation along with my nutrition/exercise class. I guess my question is when did you guys get your surgery date? Do I have a lot more to do to get mine or am I close? Because I’m really, really excited [emoji5]

  19. To ascertain the types and prevalence of adverse symptoms after RNY gastric bypass surgery, Dr. Sigrid Bjerge Gribsholt and colleagues from the Aarhus Univesity Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark, conducted a survey among over 2,200 Danish patients who had undergone RNY. These patients were compared to a control group of 90 people, matched with patients with respect to sex and BMI, but who had not received bariatric surgery. The report was published in JAMA Surgery. Of the operated group, about 1,400 patients responded to the survey, of whom 80 percent were women (the average age of all respondents was 47 years). Nearly 89 percent reported having had one or more symptoms in t…

The only thing I eat is 1 egg for breakfast and I buy a rotisserie chicken from Walmart once a week and make chicken salad with light mayo. 3ozs of that for lunch and dinner. I don't know if I am getting enough protein. I tried different protein shakes but the taste makes me throw up. Any suggestions?

Hi I know this is going to be a crazy question but I need to know which surgery I had. I had my surgery in 1979 when I was 18 years old. It was done in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Mount Sinai Hospital. I am now in my late 50s and my health is failing. I guess the reason I never knew which surgery I had was because I never had great medical care beyond the day I walked out of the surgeon's office. I spent years of throwing up my food and not losing much weight. When I asked other doctors about malnutrition they just laughed at me and asked if I had rickets. They made me feel stupid so I never pursued it further. I didn't have great medical care beyond that. I never had the ene…

And then he had to go back in and check for a bleeder and we found it. And I went up to ICU and in this afternoon after I was feeling better I am back down in a regular room. That said, it wasn't a bad or frightening experience at all I've been able to have broth and Jell-O and Crystal Light today and use the bathroom and I hope to go home tomorrow. I tried to research what a typical weight range would be for my height and potential goal weight and found a forum of body builders who gave their stats. It was really interesting to read through, but due to the nature of the site, there wasn't much plus size response! I realize that sizing fluctuates, and the same ht/wt people can be differing sizes, but I thought it would be interesting to see what other people's clothing sizes are. I'll start! I'm currently 5'10" 330. I wear a size 24 or 26 pants and 3x top. My lowest weight was 310 and I was a size 22 or …

  39. A new study, partly funded by the National Institutes of Health and published in the European Journal of Nutrition, reported that decaffeinated black tea "alters energy metabolism in the liver by changing gut metabolites." For mice ingesting it, intestinal changes were identified where "bacteria associated with lean body mass increased." In the experiment four groups of mice placed on different diets: low-fat, high-sugar (LF/HS); high-fat, high-sugar (HF/HS); high-fat, high-sugar and green tea polyphenols (HF/HS-GTP); and high-fat, high-sugar and black tea polyphenols (HF/HS-BTP). Researchers concluded that "the weights of the mice that were given green or black tea ex…

I put it down to constipation, but that has since passed, yet the pain is still there. It's fairly low in my abdomen, just below my navel. It comes in waves, being uncomfortable all the time, but every few minutes there's a wave of pain at around a 7-8 on the pain scale. It comes and goes through the day, if I am tense it hurts more, and kind of feels like muscle spasms. I'm still on the puree stage, but have been a bit lax with it over the weekend, so put it down to that. Today I've been careful and stuck to liquids, but the pain hasn't changed. No…
