I was just wondering if anyone has ever cheated while on Optifast 900. I can't eat anything just drink sugar free stuff. If you did, how much did you eat and were still able to have the surgery.

So I’m two days post-op from my gastric bypass. Still in the hospital because I am not able to hold down more than 3 ounces of liquids. I am able to get up and walk around and there is zero pain from the incision sites (I have 5 of them). The only discomfort I am experiencing is from gas. Just today I was finally able to start passing gas and what a relief it was.

So I am scheduled to undergo RNY Gastric Bypass tomorrow and am on the 2 day pre-op clear liquid diet. In the guideline that my patient coordinator sent me it stated that I could have chicken broth, went to Hale and Hearty for lunch and they did not have chicken noodle Soup (I was going to just drink the broth) so instead I bought the lobster bisque Now I'm terrified even though the bisque was very creamy without anything in it at all. Anyone on here know if I'm screwed or if the bisque was okay to eat?

Well, made it through the wait period. Tomorrow, early, is my RNY (and band removal). Am I well prepared? I don’t really know but the words Water, Protein and Vitamins are floating around, and the rest will come as it comes. Thanks to you all, your knowledge sharing is a God-send. See you on the shrinking side...

Hi, I had a sleeve 12/2009 and was the poster child for success. I lost all my weight, made it to goal, ran two 1/2 marathons...., life was good. Regrettably, much of the weight has crept back. I have gained 40ish lbs and am now at a BMI of 31.5. I am considering converting to bypass. I was wondering if any of you could share this experience? I will be private pay, my insurance does not cover bariatric procedures.... Regrets? How much did you lose with the revisional surgery? Basically I am healthy - no GERD...., having an endoscopy in a few weeks to monitor stretch.... I am thinking resleeving will put me back in the same position in a few years, but bypass ha…

I hope to at least have a surgery date soon. I’m nervous that due to the holidays that I won’t get an approval from the insurance. Anyone else in this position? I AM SO EXCITED

Just got back from Mayo last night. I've been having what I thought was gastric reflex, which started at about 6 months post op. So I did antacids, prilosec, ranitidine, and baking soda. I am really not doing anything that could cause it, no alcohol or drugs, no caffine, no eating before bed (well OK, very little), no smoking, no chocolate. At my year visit, the nut wanted to either put me back on prilosec for a month, or scope me. I said "Scope me." They did and found a slight narrowing at the base of my pouch. Then they did a contrast upper GI which was fine. Then they did a contrast lower GI which was fine. Then they decided to stretch my "narrowing" and go …

I'm stressing. I got all the way down to 115, and felt like I was too skinny. My face looked sunk in and I looked "older" than I did when I was heavier! I had my gallbladder removed and have gone up to 126... I'm sort of freaking out right now... So I'm coming to you all and getting great info. I work out 3-5 days a week and think that grazing is probably my problem. They (the doctor) had me eating every couple of hours to maintain and now I feel like in in a bad habit after 3 months. They told me to add back in some carbs and I'm getting nervous and scared. I'm starting today back on the eating 3 times a day only... And only if I'm really hungry. I want to listen to…

Just had surgery 11/13, I have consistently been doing my "30 minutes a day" since Wednesday the 22nd. Before that it was some days, or not the full 30, etc (husband shared his cold with me 2 days after coming home from the hospital, sneezing + surgery= swell). I love biking, and my surgeon said I can bike as soon as I'm up to it. Yesterday, 11/25, we went biking in a paved, flat trail. I made it 32 minutes and was so weak by the time we finished I almost couldn't get off the bike. This is a trail I did pre-op as an easy, mid week after work route. Today even my 40 minute walk was draining. Is this normal? And how long is this fatigue going to last?

A friend going in for weight loss surgery tomorrow just asked me this question: “Do you have any advice for me? ” This was my response and I hope it helps others too, although this was just my own experience & others experiences would be terrific as well!?... Hi!? I remember feeling like surgery day would never come too! It’s the first day of a steadily better life!!???? Advice, well I suppose first off, DO NOT forget to ask for something for calming/ anxiety when they start getting you ready for surgery. With me I was excited & feeling great til I got called back & then got strangely flooded with fear & emotions about being put under (for t…

I can eat "real" food; that said, I have not had any sugar or corn syrup products. I have not gone into anything with heavy oil. And if something sounds queasy when I think about eating it, not going there yet. Successful food: pretty much everything I've tried, which includes eating out (with great caution and a take out box for the next 3 meals of leftovers). Again, cautious. Problem: I still forget and eat too fast and feel queasy or "froth". As unpleasant as both are, I think I'm learning Weight: Down 44.8 lbs Inches: 33" gone (I measure every Saturday. Size: From a 16 to a 10 (which means nothing since sizes vary so much. Health: Seems good; had lab…

Hi everyone! I had sleeve to bypass revision surgery on 11/16/17. I was sleeved in 2012, and had unfortunately gained back quite a bit of weight after my 3rd and final pregnancy. I also developed horrible acid reflux. My surgeon and I decided that gastric bypass would be beneficial to me for weight loss and to help with the reflux. I am 5'0. I started out at 215, got down to 205 the day of surgery with the help of the 2 week liquid diet that was required. I feel like I am losing extremely slow. I weight myself every morning which I know I shouldn't do, but can't help it. I'm at 200 lbs now but have been stuck there for a few days and it's so frustrating because I'm still …

I was wondering if anyone has had a bowel obstruction corrective surgery and what their experience was in recovery? I had an open exploratory surgery 5 days ago to correct a bowel obstruction. The cause was scar tissue from my gastric bypass that was 10 months ago. I'm still having cramping and not sure if that is recovering from the surgery or something more. Any experience shared is much appreciated.

I am just about 3 weeks post op gastric bypass and looking for more ideas of pureed foods. I am so tired of eggs, refried beans and yogurt. I'm going to try the ricotta bake and smoothies tomorrow, but still need a few ideas to keep it interesting. Can't tolerate tofu or fat free gravy and not allowed to have meat yet. It has been a little over 2 months since my bypass surgery. I thought that I would have a hard time eating unhealthy stuff like cookies but would be able to tolerate small amounts of meat etc at this point. This is not the case. If I eat even a little bit of chicken, or fish I will be sick for hours and vomiting all the time. I cannot tolerate any pasta, bread, or salad either. Yet, I have no problem eating a cookie. I was hoping that I could follow a healthy diet that would consist of things like grilled salmon with vegetables but no, my tummy loves mashed potatoes and cookies! I don't know what to do anymore. Should I take a step backwards and start drinking protein sou…

I really feel like that in this whole process, the true test is my patience! I hate leaving messages and being told that they will call/email me and then they don't. My last thing to complete is to have my doctor re-fax my sleep study paperwork because they can't find it (again) If I cant trust them to keep my documents I damn sure don't trust them with my guts lol! Ugh!!!!! I know they are busy and I really do respect what they do, but seriously.....

So I bought my first jars of baby food last night, in preparation for the pureed phase. Let me back up..... I had my nutritional class was this week and a "bariatric class" that was pretty detailed about the different phases of appropriate foods. Baby food was mentioned. They said it was OK to eat, so long as you read the labels. In other words, no added sugar, and good Protein source. Which if you haven't already went shopping for baby food (for bariatric purposes) practically none of the baby food has a good source of protein. The NUT did say that you could add Protein Powder to the baby food that is lacking. Therefore, back to my baby food shopping extravaga…

I've yet to reach my goal and I'm not very far, but I still have like 12 kg to go and people are already telling me I should stop losing weight. I think everyone's shocked about my quick weight loss but years ago when I started to gain and I was at this exact weight people (family specially) used to tell me I should lose a few kg bc I was fat. So why is it different now? I'm decided I want to get to my goal or at least as close as I can. My brain hasn't adjusted to my new body yet and when I go out to buy clothes I always have to downsize the stuff I pick because I see smaller sizes too small for me. So maybe they are right and I'm not seeing it? What do you d…

Hi, I am new to this site, new to bariatric surgery (only decided a few weeks ago). AND I am new to Issaquah (lived in Seattle until a few months ago). So.... I could REALLY use some friends. I don't know anyone in my new town. And I only personally know one person who has had bariatric surgery (my husband's aunt who lives in Seattle who got sleeved this year and has taught me a lot). I plan to get a RNY gastric bypass as soon as I qualify (about June 2017 or so). There is a lot to learn and I would love to make some friends along this journey. Cheers! Quick few notes: Surgery: gastric bypass Surgery date: 10/31/2017 Highest weight: 388 Pre op weight: 344 Today's weight: 287 I am following the post op diet and losing weight successfully. But I regret this surgery every day. Multiple times a day. I was so blinded by "wanting to lose weight" that I sought out a surgeon and allowed him to mutilate my body to take away my ability to choose food, portion and how I live. My surgery was successful with only 1 post op complication. Its not even about the complication. I am mourning the loss of my ability to choose what and how much I eat. Anyone considering any WLS surgery... don't do it. Find another way to transform yourself…

Hello wonderful people of the interwebs! I'm currently looking for a buddy who may be able to provide some support, and vice versa. I love communicating with someone who is genuine, honest, blunt, and maybe funny. I've been having some emotional issues while going through the first few weeks since my surgery on September 18th. I am on depression and anxiety meds at the moment and I have been having a hard time with doing liquids the first few weeks, and haven't been on my depression or anxiety meds until I see my PCP on October 5th. I was an emotional eater for a good portion of my life, so being on liquids and liquids only for the last few weeks has been very, very …
