  7. I had my surgery on March 3, 2017, and I am feeling quite depressed now. Starting to wonder if this was a gigantic mistake on some levels. I cannot find foods that agree with my pallet or tummy. I just didn't think I would have such a difficult time. I have tried salads, but the dressing don't agree. I am so sick of chicken, fish upsets my stomach..etc etc. If anyone has any help or time to talk and help, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm only eating 1-2x in a day.

Since then I have had 3 pregnancy's one which included a set of twins. I never gained much weight 15 lbs max for single preg and I only gained 30 with twins. I am older now 43 and have gained some weight back. 35 lbs if we are being honest. I have drank pop and have eaten things I probably shouldnt of. Is there a way after all this time to jump start my weight loss again? I have been trying to eat healthy and working out 3-5 x weekly at the gym. Just started keeping food diary again. I …

I had the bypass surgery done June 28th. About a week after I started having issues with drinking fluids. Whenever I drink and it hits my stomach I'm in severe pain. No matter the amount or temperature it hurts so bad. I have gone to my doctors office 3 times already to get iv fluids because I have been so dehydrated. The second trip I went straight to the er from the doctors office. Anyone else have this happen to them and what did your doctor say? My doctor scheduled me for an endoscopy for this Friday. I was supposed to have been back to work 2 weeks ago and just haven't been able to stay because of the pain.

Hello, I'm planned on heading to college to get my BSN to become a registered nurse After my WSL. But recently I've been having doubts, because I know my whole body will be different afterwards. Even though currently it's easy for me to stay up hours at a time at night that might not be the case after the surgery. I'm going to be having gastric bypass and I just wanted to know if there are any nurses who have had the surgery and are working right now and if they could give me some feed back. I don't want to waste four years of my life working towards the goal of a job my new body won't be able to handle.

Today I woke up feeling super full and bloated. Just by looking at my stomach it's very swollen which I'm sure is to be expected. But I am struggling getting my water in today. 21. HI Everyone, New on this site. Would love to have a weight loss buddy. Someone to talk to or walk with here in the area. Some history. Had a RNY on July 11th this year. I was a revision from sleeve to bypass due to chronic GERD. My highest weight was 340. My lowest weight 165. Regained some weight over 10 years, but kept 2/3 off. Reflux, menopause and having a chronic autoimmune disease with lots of fatigue plus eating too much due to reflux caused the gain. Back to the basics again and hope to get to an all time low. Long story short, at my heaviest in 2012 I was nearly 600 lbs. Came down to 561 during preop diet and was sleeved in December of 2012. Dropped to 365 and have hit a very bad plateau for almost two years now. I bike about 15 miles every week, am very active, and try my best to watch my diet. Recently had an upper GI to see if my sleeve has stretched which it has not. I now have approval from Kaiser to convert my sleeve to a bypass and am currently enrolled in their mandatory 12 week Options program. Anyone have any input/experience with going from a sleeve to a bypass? What can I expect in terms of recovery? Is the gas pain just as bad/worst? What about dumping? …

RNY Bypass was 2 weeks ago today. Can't believe how far I've come in just two weeks! My surgeon has food "phases" each lasting two weeks. Phase 1 postop is liquid only (No liquids on day of surgery, water on 2nd day after upper GI confirming no leaks, & then ease into protein when possible. Jello, yogurt, and Pudding are okay in this phase. Phase 2 is "Very Soft Foods" & that starts today! My first meal is 1/4 of Egg Beaters. Fingers crossed!

8 days in from second surgery and all is well. Down 14lbs from my surgery day. In the beginning, I was ok with pureed food. Getting it down with no problem and getting in about 2 ounces before I am full. With the premier protein(which I thought I couldnt have until 2 months post op)I can get in a little more than 2 oz. Even 4 oz the other day. Now im bored with pureed food& sometimes I dont even feel like eating it so I turn to my premier protein. More so now than the past 2 days. Changes and food aversions taking place rapidly. Overall I feel good. Its sometimes a battle to have to wait to drink water but its going well. iamready4this

  33. Dr. Noora Kanerva from the University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden, and colleagues analyzed data from the Swedish Obesity Study (SOS), a more than 30-year investigation comparing bariatric surgery with conventional treatments for obesity. In particular, they were interested in learning whether the short-term dietary changes a person made after bariatric surgery (i.e. in the first six months) might be predictive of the long-term (10 years) success of the procedures. In part, their interest stemmed from the observation that about “20-30 percent of obese patients do not achieve successful weight outcomes after bariatric surgery.” Their concept was that the ability to ad…

Were you vegan/vegetarian before surgery or did you switch your diet after the surgery? I noticed any time I eat any type of animal protein it sits very heavy in my pouch and it causes some pain... Nothing, no amount of literature, absolutely nothing prepares you for the sheer horror that is dumping syndrome. Worst part is that there's nothing you can do about it, you just have to ride it out on your own... The pain, the tears... Wow... I was not expecting it!
