I'm scheduled for surgery June 26!! So excited. A few months back I had planned a large tattoo and have an appointment 10 days after surgery on July 5. I was wondering if I should reschedule... It'll be a long day starting at 12:00. If I'm going to feel okay, no need to reschedule or will I be sore/tired??

Hello everyone Many have read my post about my weight loss journey and complications. I have had 5 bowel obstructions in a year which had Surgury and 5 endoscopy dilation. At this present time I am in the hospital and had to be put back on TPN which I will continue at home for a while. Reason I came to hospital is that last week I started vomiting fluids and couldn't keep anything down. I started drinking ensure and it made it worse. Now they have done a few studies in which Monday is a important study that I am having which I will be drinking barian to see an area where they see something in my small intestine. They believe that a part of my small intestine is not workin…

I just got my endoscopy done this morning...While I was in the recovery room my doctor came in to talk to me. Im thankful he didnt find any ulcers, hernias, or any polips but he said that my intestines are flipped around in an abnormal position. He said that this is found in about 1 in every 10,000 patients, and because of this my bypass will most likely be open instead of laprascopic. Im just freaking out a little. Ive never had any surgery so i guess its just the thought of being cut open. Is open alot hard to recover from open than laprascopic??

Is anyone having trouble digesting meat? Whenever I eat even a small amount of meat, fish, tuna,or eggs I feel terrible! Like I've been punched in the chest! I can't even swallow chicken... I start feeling nauseated as soon as I taste it. I don't have problems with ground beef if it's in chili or stew.. This really disturbs me, I love meat!! ?

I never knew if I should believe it or not but 1/2 cup of "full liquids" is too much! This is only my second lunch being on full liquids- after surgery I was on clear liquids for the first week. I got myself a 1/4 cup of fat-free cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of tomato soup. I was eating slowly and at one point looked down at my bowl and for the first time in my life thought I had too much food left! Then I noticed I was very full (tight feeling in chest) when I was only half way done. I'm still getting used to the practice of leaving food on my plate because it feels wrong but I'm so glad that this tool is helping me literally not be able to finish. I was never sure if I …

Looking for an accountability partner who I can be Facebook/texting friendly with! I had gastric bypass in March of 2015, and initially got to my lowest weight of 179. However, my current weight is 205. My husband and I have finally reached a point where we want to have a baby but I also don't want to start out at the weight I currently am. I've fell of the weight loss motivation wagon and need someone to help me get back to where I want to be. It's definitely taking a hit and I've been more depressed than I've been since my surgery. I'd like to lose 50 lbs at least! Please let there be a friend out there!

Has anybody tried intermittent fasting since having gastric bypass or vsg. If so how is it. And are you getting in all your protein and vitamins for the day?... I want to try it but I'm nervous. I honestly don't think it will hurt me but I just want to know if anybody else has tried it. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

  8. I flew for the first time since losing 145lbs. Going thru the full body scan it alerted to my stomach/groin area. I had to have a full pat down in that area. This is the area with the most lose and extra skin. My stomach hangs out like an over stuffed fanny pack. I didn't mind the pat down because I appreciate airport security when I'm going to be on a plane. So I'm just assuming my skin and fat in that area are the reason I was flagged both times. Anyone else experience this or other things at the airport and suspect it was your extra skin?

  11. Strenuous activity often leads to muscle soreness. Finding a way to reduce this unpleasant consequence of physical activity would would be beneficial. After weight loss surgery some of us discovered that we had muscles we didn't even realize we had, due to years of neglect. A team of Spanish researchers believes it has discovered a cocktail that reduces such discomfort. Their formula is a combination of watermelon and pomegranate juice enriched with citrulline and ellagitannins. The authors chose these ingredients because they are linked to beneficial metabolic effects and performance enhancement. For example, citrulline, a non-essential amino acid found in wat…

Hello, I'm 1 year and 1 month out of Mini Gastric Bypass. Last week I've experienced the worst heartburn ever that I was almost certain I will vomit blood (I only vomited green bile). Rushed to the emergency and I was referred to endoscopy. The doctor found that my pouch was full of bile with a very small ulcer, everything else looked normal but a biopsy was taken and sent to pathology and currently waiting for the pathology report. Next step is to do PH manometry to check the PH value of the esophagus. I have also been complaining of excess weight loss and I'm still losing weight. The doctor did talk to me about the possible need of another surgery saying that bile refl…

Hi. I had gastric bypass November 22, 2016. My 4 month blood work showed my ferritin at a 5. I was sent to hematology, they ordered 4 iron infusions. 1 per week for a month. Ordered a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. On April 26 my primary ran my iron and ferritin. My ferritin was 314(H) and my iron was 155. I met with my hematologist a week ago, exactly a month later. My tests came out fine. Scary part is my ferritin was a 60 and my iron a 55. She is ordering a test of the mid area that I can't remember the name of, and moved my blood work up to the 12th. I asked her to run it sooner because I'm afraid of all the ferritin disappearing and it taking another month to feel bet…

  17. A little over a week ago I was speaking to my father on the phone. He was sharing with me the details of his brother who was living in the hospital again due to his health issues. My surgery was scheduled, but I felt guilt because I didn't think I had a valid enough reason for it. Then my father said something I will never forget. He described my uncle as a sad blob who didn't have a tooth in his head. A burden on his family because he couldn't care for himself. When I realized that being fat not only turned my uncle helpless but categorized as a burden, I immediately knew I was doing the right thing. I don't want to be a stereotype/burden/blob/etc to my family. Last ni…

  21. So Im on my two month as of June 3rd out of surgery. I've been eating more solid food but having trouble keeping stuff down here and there. For about two weeks it was bad bad. I was going great but the last couple times I've tried something a little more solid and thrown up I've found I'm a lot more emotional the last two times than I have been for some reason. I threw up dinner and I just got super depressed tonight and cried , all I want to do is just sleep now. Has this happened to anyone before?

  26. So I had gastric bypass on 5/17. My diet starts pretty much at a puree phase for a week, then moved to soft food. I have experienced no nausea at all, and no stomach issues whatsoever at any part of this - even spicy food, and one time early this week when I had a small piece of chocolate. 27. The latest research shows the best results were achieved by combining aerobic (such as walking, swimming, and bike riding) and resistance (such as weight lifting) exercise routine. Dr. Dennis T. Villareal from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and colleagues studied the responses of 160 older (over 65) obese people (BMI > 30) to resistance training, aerobic training or a combination of the two types during a 6-month weight loss regime. Most of the participants were female (over 60 percent) and 90 percent were white. The primary outcome the investigators were interested in was any changes in participants' performances on the Physical Performance Test (…

2 weeks ago I had an endoscopy done because my doctor required it. Everything went well but the dr told me he found some tissue in my stomach and took a biopsy. I got a call on Monday saying I have H-Pylori and I have to take antibiotics for 14 days and won't go back until 30 days after to get tested again. Which will be until the end of May. I am happy they found it and it is getting taken care of. I am just a little scared that this will delay me for my surgery. I'm really not sure what to think. I am very nervous. If anyone went through this feel free to let me know how your experience went. Thank you.
