Looking for accountability partner!
Looking for an accountability partner who I can be Facebook/texting friendly with! I had gastric bypass in March of 2015, and initially got to my lowest weight of 179. However, my current weight is 205. My husband and I have finally reached a point where we want to have a baby but I also don't want to start out at the weight I currently am. I've fell of the weight loss motivation wagon and need someone to help me get back to where I want to be. It's definitely taking a hit and I've been more depressed than I've been since my surgery. I'd like to lose 50 lbs at least! Please let there be a friend out there!

Birth control after gastric bypass...
I've been on the Depo shot and I've had no problems. No periods in fact. I actually just get the kits and give them to myself in my thigh at home every three months according the schedule. Makes it 10 times easier. I have a horrible time remembering to take pills and the IUD gave me horrible cramps 3 days a month. Once I was able to give myself the blood thinner shots after my surgery, I just decided to do the Depo shots too.

Only Me !
You'll still have a lot of excess water weight on ya from the surgery! Don't worry too much about it just yet! You'll see it more around week 3!

Am I losing enough weight?
My doctor put it to me this way: Most people lose up to 20% of their intending weight loss by 6 weeks post op, up to 60% by 6 months out, and 80% at 1 year. That last 20% is what creeps off your 1 year surgiversary. Now mind you this calculating the amount your suppose to lose to get to your doctor's ideal weight for you. I thought I was going slow too until I started doing the numbers. I've lost a third of my excess body weight by my 6 week and that made me feel better about not seeing big numbers at my appointment!

Lower left side belly pain
I still have this pain too and I'm three weeks post op tomorrow. This is also the area that they do most of the work from so there is a lot of internal trauma to the muscle and nerves in that area. I have the most pain when I sit for long periods of time at work because it feels like my intestines are trying to push up into my ribs on my left side. They told me the pain would probably last about 6 weeks but would be at it's work 2-3 weeks post op since you're still healing internally. P.s Awesome job on the exercise! I've been trying to get in at least 3-5 miles a day but now that I'm back at work, it's harder to get all those miles in. I'm hoping to do a 5k the first week of May and beat my time from the previous one I did in the fall when I was heavier!

Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC
They are great there!! I had the gastric plication by Dr Ortiz and their staff is wonderful. Only wish I had had gastric bypass done though. I lost 100 lbs in my first year but I changed BC and 10 lbs slowly crept back on. I'm in the process now though to get the RNY done! It was definitely a great tool, just didn't help me to where I thought it would. I definitely plan on heading to their plastic surgery center in a couple of years to get everything done. Good luck and enjoy the beautiful hotel! There's an amazing heritage art museum in Tijuana you should check out! And make sure you walk, walk, walk after surgery!
