Hello everyone, 3/30/17 will be my three month post op appointment and I am down 61 pounds. I can't tell you how surreal it all feels. I've went from a 3x to an xl in shirts and from a 22 to damn near a 16 in pants. Fabric makes the difference. But omg. I am so blessed I feel like I'm getting a second chance to finally feel good about myself. My confidence has gone way up. My energy levels have went up. I'm just so happy to see what's in store for the rest of my journey. So far I've been healthy recovering well with no hiccups and I hope and pray this continues. Eating good and staying away from sugary foods. And I still enjoy ice cream and sweets just low sugar sweets. W…

Hi everyone I'm new so not sure if this is the right spot to post this, any way I just finished my 5th visit with the nutritionist and I have one left to go. I'm getting a little nervous about after surgery recover time or do you still get food cravings. Did your view of food change? Will I loose my hair? We have a support group by me it's just with my work schedule I'm not able to make it. Any advice would be helpful.

Now I am really anxious about anything more than puree and hurting my pouch. Did anyone have anxiety about moving to the next step in your diet? surgery date 1/17/17

hi everyone! I had the laproscopic gastric bypass in 2008 and the last few years I've been having problems that seem to be getting worse with gerd. I am on omeprozole 40 mg once a day and I have been having severe pains in my abdomen. I went to the er the other night and the doctor gave me famotidine 20 mg tabs and they seem to work for about 2 hours then the pain is back... he told me to only take it 2 times a day so I don't know what I should do. Is it safe to take more than 2 a day or is there something better that I can take? Sent from my LGUS375 using the BariatricPal App

Maybe it's because I am in the pureed stage, but I am hating eating right now. I was so excited to move from the protein shake to the pureed foods, but now I'd rather have the protein shake. I surely hope this changes. I guess I need to go read some posts to see what others are saying about their experiences.

So I am at my 5 week mark and the lbs have been coming off like clockwork, until last week that is. Started at 371, surgery at 330, down to 290 last week, now I have stalled and even gained a pound or two back. I'm starting to freak a little because of it. I just recently went back to actual food, but I eat protein first then veggies, rarely any fat (no fried food or anything). I exercise and walk, although stress over the past week from work is causing sleeping probs. I don't want to see that scale go the wrong way. Any advice?

Also, I haven't flown on an airplane in a few years due to my size (5'6 and 397 lbs). Any input on how much I can expect to lose 3-4 months post surgery? Will the airplane situation be okay? I kno…

I was curious as to whether or not it's possible to stay on a liquid diet post roux-en-Y? Has anyone tried it or know of someone that has? I met with a nurse a few days ago and posed this question to her. Her response was that it wasn't recommended, but when I asked why, she was unable to give me an answer. There are various liquid diet options out there - like Unjury - that offer a wide variety of products that aid in providing a proper balance of vitamins and minerals, so why couldn't one use these products in order to aid in weight reduction? I had gastric bypass last May 25th. I did really well until I hit around 7 months I've noticed my stomach is stretching and I'm eating and drinking things I know I'm not allowed. Now I've gained 8-10 back and I'm so disappointed in myself. Is this normal? How do I get my pouch to shrink so I can continue losing weight to get to my goal. I've lost around 60 lbs but I still need to lost around 45 more lbs. I need some help on this.

So i'm officially 100 pounds down, but still have a ways to go. This is the most confident i've ever been in my life and i feel absolutely amazing. Recently, however, as i've been healing and able to eat more and test out new foods, i find myself absolutely overwhelmed and terrified of gaining even a single pound back. i stick to my diet and exercise everyday, but occasionally (and i mean rarely) slip up and eat something i shouldn't or skip a workout. Gaining weight now consumes my every thought. I may sound like a cry baby but i just don't know what to do! It is so overwhelming and sends me to panic mode. 37. So I am two weeks post op following gastric bypass and I started with pain around my sternum two days ago.. I passed it off as "doing too much" around the house. I also felt super tired and started having breathing issues. Of course my bf and mom passed it off as "doing too much". I was adamant about going to the hospital. Turns out my hemoglobin was 74 and then down to 68 and my little pain might be an ulcer. After the 7 hour wait in emerg I was finally admitted and a blood transfusion is currently being done and will have a scope tomorrow. I wanted to post this topic because it is important to keep on top of how YOU feel-keep an eye out for red flags. If you are…

I have been going back and forth on which one to do till I talked to the doc today. I'm glad to finally get my head straight on it. Now to just get through the next 30 days without biting all my nails off lol. Anyone else having surgery that day as well?

I've lost about 45 pounds since I had my surgery Nov 7, 2016. I know ppl who had GB the same month as I and have lost weight between 60-80 pounds. I'm very careful and at most have 750 calories a day, and follow the doc's rules. I'm feeling pretty discouraged with my slow weight loss.

I keep looking up malnutrition and wondering if I should've chose the sleeve to prevent dying from that. Not sure if I should go through the with this. I'm 380lbs as of today, started at 405 a couple months ago (my process was fast as my insurance had no 3 or 6 month requirements) I have pcos and I'm 30. Nothing else wrong but I know I'm headed there. Not sure what to do....any happy thoughts to share?

  45. Hi, everyone! Question - I hear about everyone "dumping" after rny but I haven't experienced it yet and I am 9 weeks out, but I haven't had anything with sugar. What have experienced twice, though, is a discomfort or "stuck" feeling right in the center of my chest at my sternum. This has only happened recently, when I tried a small amount of finely cut steak and tonight when I had some scrambled eggs. Anyone else have this happen, and is this normal? I've also lost 30lbs since surgery on 1/18/17. Does that sound about right for weight loss? Just curious. thanks! dennise

I'm still in planning for gastric bypass, but a webinar I attended said to avoid caffeine after surgery because it dehydrates. How do you do this? I have avoided soda and coffee (11 years ago) in the past but this was before kids. I drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning and a soda or coffee in the afternoon. I'm always tired. I'm hoping that Losing weight helps with fatigue/exhaustion. And I have energy to do things. I've not been diagnosed with sleep apnea but I really wonder if I have it. Has caffeine to no caffeine been an easy transition for those caffeine addicts??

I am just curious what others were told about Vitamins after RNY. I am having surgery on Wednesday and want to make sure I am doing everything right. The nutritionist I went to see told me: Vitamin B-12 (1) SL every day .....BUT these come in different dosages and I don't know which one to pick Flinestone Chewable Vitamin with Iron (1) every day Then, when I start soft food I need to add: Calcium 500mg every day and Centrum Chewable every day. Does this sound right? I have read a few things on here that are making me question whether I need to add more. Please advise.
