Help please. I am 3 weeks post GB surgery & have been eating very small quantities of chicken breast & rice or Soup & 1/2 a slice of bread ....is this why I have only lost 14 pounds. I see people posting 20-30 lb weight-loss in the 1st month & wondering if my small amounts of carbs are contributing to my slow weight loss. Does anyone else eat carbs? What is the % of weight you are supposed to lose in the 1st month post gastric bypass ?

I started Puree yesterday, had a scrambled egg & light Swiss cheese. I felt sleepy instantly & a headache. The rest of day had liquid protein since I was scared to eat. I had scrambled eggs again this morning & took 3 bites and I was done. I need to lay down immediately & the feeling is so uncomfortable. The toughest part is chewing to applesauce consistency. I get so thirsty too, I miss drinking while eating. When will this get better? I didn't expect puree to be this painful. I was missing food too my last few days of liquid only before puree & now that I'm eating food, it sucks. [emoji31] Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery d…

This may be an odd question but my sister keeps telling me that I might look "old" after I have surgery and lose weight quickly. So what happens to your face after surgery? Do your wrinkles show up more? Saggy cheeks? I have no idea? So are there any facial creams or lotions to help with any of this?

I'm 5 weeks shy of my 1 year anniversary. I have dropped a lot of weight at the beginning and started to really worry. However, I haven't lost a single pound for the last 3 months. Does this mean that my weight is stabilizing now? I keep hearing that people keep losing for almost 18 months. I'm happy where I've reached though it really scared me at some point and will be even happier to gain few kg's.. when did your weight started to stabilize and when did you gain back some weight if you ever did? P.s I've had MGB and not RNY.

Hi all! After 3 years of suffering with my band, today with my first visit with a new doctor I already have a surgery day! I thought I was going to have to fight tooth and nail to get a revision, I can't believe how fast this process went. My surgery day is April 5th 2017. Now I have to quit smoking and lose 7lbs. My insurance required 1 month of a weight check in but I have 6 month worth of documented check ins from within the last 12 months. I am getting a band to bypass revision and now I am on to educating myself more about the bypass. Any tips, food suggestions or any other advise is GREATLY appreciated! I've realized ever since I got out of the hospital that my mouth gets dry really easily. I wake up multiple times at night because it's so dry. I've read that it could be because I'm dehydrated but I'm already drinking so much water a day. Also, I've noticed that I've had bad breath. Not morning breath or anything like that but I can't get it to go away. Any ideas or experiences with this?

I'm terrified, happy, nervous, scared, excited... I broke down today at work when I was leaving and everyone was telling me goodbye. I'm going to be off of work for a month. I had been doing just fine and suddenly I got hit with waterworks! I'm not a big crier, although I am emotional, so it hit me off guard. I have been really quiet since I've been home. I really have to get my stuff packed and I'm just drained mentally. I don't consider myself an anxious person. But man is it hitting me strong now!

Hi all, I'm starting to plan for my post op lifestyle. I've read here some folks do a low carb diet after surgery and some stick with everything in moderation. I've tried both many times in my life. Lost more and quickly with low carb. But always came slipped back into normal eating. Everything in moderation, leaves me more hungry, but not craving so much. As far as weight loss and maintenance after bypass, what has worked best? Is it easier to maintain low carb after surgery? Have you seen equal success with eating all in moderation? Does anyone else experience contempt from others about their weight loss? I get so tired of some friends and family saying the only reason I lost weight is the surgery. They look at me with contempt when I say I'm dieting and exercising. They act like I took the easy way out by surgery. I am 2 months shy of my 2 year anniversary and I am already gaining my weight back! I'm so discouraged! I am able to eat sugar and that makes it hard. I have not gone back to soda, which is great, but I am not motivated to stay on my diet anymore. I hit my 100 lb mark at 1 year, (my goal was 175) but have gained back 25 lbs in the last year. SO DISCOURAGED!! Looking back now, I wished I had realized that there was a small window of change to take place mentally. I knew this was a tool to lose weight, but I thought I had more time to change. Its different when you CANT eat, but now its work!

I'm going through the steps needed for my insurance to be approved for Gastric Bypass, however; I am not having 2nd thoughts about having the surgery. I need to know if this is normal?? I am worried about how much my life is going to change, how much my body is going to change. I have been overweight since I was a child, about 3rd grade, so I have no idea what it's like to be skinny. I worry about how my husband will react/feel about my new body. Will he still love me/be attracted to me? Can anyone tell me if these worries and 2nd thoughts are normal prior to surgery?

I am a 37 yr old female, however; age, sex, race make no difference to me in my mentor. I would like someone local, that I can text with when I have questions, or need help. Thank you for reading, have a great day!!

They range from 10 to 18 grams of protein and low in calories. I was wondering if it would be good to eat once I transition into soft foods. I'll post pic in comments.

Hi! I'm scheduled for my gastric bypass next Monday, Feb. 27th and I have so many questions for someone who has gone through the surgery! Do you miss certain foods? Are you upset that you made such an extreme decision that leaves you unable to have certain things? I've changed my lifestyle and want to change it for good but I do indeed love certain foods and I'm afraid I'll be upset when I begin to deny myself certain things, or upset when I just physical can't have them anymore. Is this silly or is this a real concern? Please let me know your experiences.

I have had my heart set on getting sleeved but was recently told by my surgeon that bypass would be a better option for me since I struggle with acid reflux. He suggested the "mini" gastric bypass. Will this actually cure my reflux? Obviously if I go the sleeve route I don't want to be on PPI's for the rest of my life and I do worry about the risk of cancer with reflux. But I'm also terrified of getting bypass. The sleeve feels safer to me since it doesn't involve messing with intestines and there's more stomach left behind. I worry about long term deficiency issues and dumping syndrome. So I'm sort of torn right now...
