HF are you doing a liquid diet with Protein? If so I think you'll probably get close to that 50. I think your surgeon is just seeing if you're committed and capable to doing the changes that it takes to make this work. The surgery truly is just a tool. We have to do the work. That being said if you get close do not hesitate to tell the surgeon you did your best to hit the goal that was set for you and you'd like to go forward with the surgery. If he's doing GBP with the robotic route he needs that liver to be as light as possible. Either way just ask your surgeon. There's no magic way with them. Doing the work and honesty will work in your favor. He'll know if you truly did the work. That being said I'm an RN and worked many years with surgeons and still do. They put their pants on the same way we do...don't feel intimidated. I think you'll do great! You're already off to a great start! .

Premier Protein Shakes have 30 grams of Protein in them. Very fulfilling. I did those for a week and a half and dropped 13 pounds. I did a full liquid diet. Sure I missed food cause I still had my old stomach but I felt great! The chocolate was my favorite. I drank them for a couple of weeks after my surgery but struggled cause they felt too heavy in my new pouch. I switched to Atkins shakes then and did great. They only have 15 grams of protein but I found they weren't as heavy in my new pouch. Hope this helps!

It's not starving yourself. It's just like the full liquid diet you'll be doing after surgery. 60 grams of Protein a day, broth, fluids, sugar free Jello etc... Its the same most surgeons require a week or two before surgery. I ended up being on full liquid 4 weeks and did just fine. You just don't have all the heavy carbs.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
