Never thought I'd be one of those people who would lose 100 lbs. Yet, its not about the number, I have abandoned the scale a while back, I am focused on how my life changed, because I was no longer worried about how others viewed me. My victory is not how much I have lost, or the size I now wear --I'm starting to fit into size 14-- It's about how much I have changed as person, it is like my weight and body image have been chaining my real personality. Something I never thought was true. So here is to everyone starting this journey, it will be worth every tough day, I promise

I'm sitting in the surgical waiting room. I can't believe this is actually happening. I'm excited. I prayed this morning and I know God is in control. You guys just don't know how ready I am to begin my new life. I understand that it's a tool and I would have to put the work in but the fact that it will help me to achieve my goals is awesome. I've been unhappy for so long. Let's talk. I'm bored. Any advice? Encouraging words? What should I expect when I wake up? Pain?

So I had my surgery and even after the pain the fist day ( lots of gas, I had mine laparoscopic) I just have some discomfort, like I did too any crunches yesterday and I'm sore. I haven't quite wrapped my head around the fact my stomach is an oz and I'm over my first or second big hurdle. I don't know if it hasn't struck me yet, or what but I'm still living in la la land. I'm drinking my shake and crystal light (slowly) and dealing with the discomfort, but I'm still waiting for the shoe to drop, ya know? Anyone else have these feelings after? Thanks! I am unsure what i should set the macronutrients for. My protien is set for 80 grams based on my doctor's instructions but what should I set the total grams for carbs & fats for. Thanks in advance for any help.

I ate something I shouldn't have eaten on Saturday (fried food -- I know it was dumb). Now it is the following Wednesday and ever since then my stomach feels sore. It feels like the day after drinking too much alcohol, only it's lasted numerous days. I'm taking Carafate and Gaviscon with little relief. Lying down makes me feel better. It happened one other time and went away after about a week. I even went last time to see my surgeon and had an ultrasound and labs that came out normal. Anyone else have this happen? I just want to feel better again. [emoji27]

I'm having a hard time understanding what's happening. So I had my surgery on 10/24. After surgery I rapidly lost 40 lbs but developed a horrible stricture that caused me 2 hospital stays and stretching. The last stricture correction was on 12/30 in which I gained 8 lbs due to fluids and meds. After 3 weeks I was able to lose 10 lbs but am now stuck at 208 lbs. I am now able to eat and keep some foods down and even started the gym but have not seen any weight lose in the last 3 weeks. I'm starting to freak out and not wanting food as I'm scared I'm gaining all my weight back. What am I doing wrong. I track everything on my fitness pal. Am barely getting 40-50 …

Anyone else missing warm, ooey, gooey, cheesy pizza like me? Well you no longer have to suffer because there are alternatives to doughy crusted pizzas which we've all said goodbye to, or at least I have! You can make a delicious pizza crust from ground chicken breast. Who would've thought?! I put all the ingredients into MyFitnessPal and let it do the calculations for me. It tastes absolutely delicious! I'm sure you'll agree that at less than 250 calories and a whopping 31 grams of protein, this pizza will be in your wheelhouse of recipes Ingredients One pound ground (raw) chicken breast ¼ cup grated Parmesan ¼ cup Reduced fat 4 cheese Italian shredded cheese…

I just had my last appointment with the bariatric team prior to surgery. Waiting on approval from insurance so we have an anticipated surgery date of March 20. My biggest concern is that after surgery I won't loose the weight and that this will be just another failed attempt at loosing weight. Just thinking about this devastates me as I feel this is my last option. Has anyone else felt like this? What are some of your keys for success in the long term? I had my RNY on 9/20 and got an infection to my left port site. Woke up today in excruciating pain, could barely function. Went to my surgeon's office and they opened it up there......OMG that hurt so bad, lots of gross stuff came out, but now I feel like a totally different person with minimal pain. I just wish I had been more insistent that this bubble above my incision didn't seem normal (it was almost like having a shelf over the port site). Everyone who looked at it seemed to think it was normal because of the suturing internally and then gluing. No signs of infection until last night. I am hopeful this is the worst of my complications. Hi everyone, reporting from the hospital here. Had the surgery Wed 2-15 and expected to go home today (Friday). Everything looked good except an elevated heart rate, so they did a CAT scan. They found that the lower part of the intestines is slightly inflamed, so they have me on "gut rest" for 24 hours and then reassess. Has anyone had something similar? I'm trying not to catastrophize but right now I'm regretting having done this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi my stricture peeps! I was dilated yesterday however I am still experiencing the feeling of food stuck in my throat. I've called Dr but not getting a clear answer as the PA's are the ones responding. My question...Did you have immediate relief? I know I may have to go again but I was dialated to 10 mm, and Dr says this is pretty good. He put me on full liquids for at least 1 week. Feeling frustrated and annoyed. It seems I should have relief now if they just opened it up.

Hey everyone I had my rny oct.2016. I desperately need to hit my personal goal weight of 165lbs and I'm 185 now. I seriously need a positive motivator as well as kick my butt into high gear. Being honest I do not meal prep I try to watch my portions and I have become more conscious of what's going into my body as well as reading labels. After my surgery I was doing pretty well with at least getting out and walking for exercise. I honestly could not tell you the last time I did. I have however just signed up for a gym membership and plan on hitting my goals but I'm realistic and I know there wi be bad days. In those times I need the most push. Someone who's inspiring and n…

I had gastric bypass with gall bladder removal in 2003. I have been having serious issues related to my digestive tract for the past 2-3 years. Things like serious pain, gas and bloating, distention, constipation, diarrhea, acne, fatigue, hormonal imbalance and whole body inflammation. I have been through many types of healthcare practitioners and tests and therapies and yet I still struggle to return to normal healthy functioning. I am reaching out to see if anyone has experienced something similar and what you did about it. Thank you. Cheryl

Hey guys! New here and this is my first post. I'm nervous about the revision surgery to RNY because of my bad experience with the Lap Band. I had it done like ten years ago when I was a lot younger, I'm 29 now. There has been a lot of guilt and shame from not meeting my goals. I was so ashamed I have spent most of my 20s trying to forget about it because I thought I was the only one who had this experience. Recently I have learned that I was not the only one who has been through this and it is very common. This has been very uplifting and I reached out to a surgeon who I plan on doing the revision to RNY procedure. I guess I'm looking for some people to connect w…

For those who have been reading my post I have a BIG update. I have been complaining nonstop to my doctors and been to the ER 100x with neausea, vomiting and severe abdominal pain. I went to the ER today and was treated and sent home. When I went to get into bed my stomach started to hurt badly again. I went back to the ER and and there happen to be a new ER dr that I have never seen before. He suggested another CT scan and at first I refused Bc I have had about 6 of them in the past 2 weeks. He explained to me when you have Bariatric Surgery you should be well aware you could be subjected to several CT scans. So I hesitantly agreed. He said he was going to use contact dy…

so i had my surgery in omaha NE in sept 2015 and i moved to FL just a month after surgery due to family issues. my new surgeon says i should have lost more than 63 pounds by now. he even said, and i quote, "you're doing poorly". he also said that for me to be so young, i really should have lost over 100 by now. I workout every day, i eat no more than a 1,000 calories, i get all my Water and Protein and i'm losing about a pound a day (well sometimes i only lose half a pound) so i don't understand why i'm not losing as much weight as i should be. my new surgeon suggested i get lap band but medicaid won't pay for that. the only reason i got my surgery in omaha was because …

I really know, seriously I know, that smoke is bad for your health especially after a bypass surgery, so please don't try to judge or be concerned of my health I am grown man and I know what I want for me. Having said that anyone knows when it's "safe" to smoke again? It's been a month since I had the surgery and I want a cigarette so badly. I'm scheduled for tomorrow to have the Bypass and I'm super nervous and excited at the same time. I have a feeling of being unprepared. I have my hospital bag, pain meds and all the essentials but it feels like I'm unprepared. I had 8 days of the liver shrinking liquid diet and I didn't do so well. The 1st couple of days were rough so I cheated. The last 3 days I've been basically starving myself. (Water and Protein shake) I'm nervous that it won't be enough. I would be crushed if I couldn't have the surgery or something went wrong because of my negligence. Had anyone experienced that will a large BMI. I'm so nervous.

Ever taken or ever been administered the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, a standardized psychometric test of adult personality and psychopathology? You probably have many times before, but you just didn't know it. Psychologists and other mental health professionals use various versions of the MMPI to help develop treatment plans; assist with differential diagnosis; help answer legal questions (forensic psychology); screen job candidates during the personnel selection process; or as part of a therapeutic assessment procedure. Often, these tests are administered by companies selecting from a vast pool of prospective applicants for an open position. However,…

Hi all, I have had a lot of success with my bypass (revision from lap band). I successfully lost 30kg (66lbs) in the first 6 months post op, and I am proud to say I have maintained my loss for the last two years. I am looking to lose the last 10-15kg (22-33lbs) and I am struggling. To be perfectly honest, I feel like I've learned how to 'cheat' the bypass and what foods I can eat to not feel like I'm on a diet, but also not gain weight. I've been doing it for so long now, that any sort of restriction in calories or intake feels like a diet (which I haven't done in so long!) that I'm struggling to stay on track. Is there any advice for someone like me? I don…

Surgery is scheduled for the 20th and I will need to travel about 4000 miles round trip very soon after. I will not have to drive but I will be in the car. I've been reading so many posts online including pamphlets I've been given on what to and what not to do post Gastric Bypass. Im three weeks out and I'm starting puréed stage. Now, I've been reading comments that you shouldn't have more than 2 oz of purée at a time. Im in shock! I've been comfortably eating a cup of Soup or Greek yogurt at a time! And I don't have to eat slowly. I eat at a moderate pace. Now I'm sooooo worried. Even if I didn't pop a stitch, could I have put a strain on one or two of my stitches and caused a weak spot? I'm a perfectionist and the thought of ruining my pouch and the good work the surgeon did is killing me. I can't stop thinking about it!…

Greetings! Has this happened to you? You're doing GREAT post-op and then KNEE PAIN invades your life? I had RNY and am down 70 lbs. I have another 50 to go. I was obese for 12 years and super-obese the past 2 years. I'm very happy with my progress except for on thing. And it's a biggie. Four months after surgery -- --my mobility actually WORSENED when one knee suddenly became painful. Pain. Gait change as my bod changed-things-up to accommodate the pain. Limping. Rely on anaerobic exercise as anything too active kills me. Can't take the dog for long walks anymore. Can't do my rowing machine, but swimming works pretty good (flutter kick from hip is AOK). Yes. W…
