After surgery it can be difficult to meet your daily Fluid requirements. It affects some people more than others. When I was in the hospital, I couldn't even drink the Water because my taste buds changed and the water tasted overly chlorinated. I was looking at a magazine today and came across an interesting invention, and I alway like new inventions. It was called a Citrus Zinger Infuser Water Bottle. It seemed like a neat idea. I wondered if anyone who underwent bariatric surgery ever used this type of product and whether they liked it. Especially if they were having problems getting in their fluids. http://www.target.com/p/citrus-zinger-infuser-water-bottle-2…

  2. I had my Lap Band to Gastric Bypass revision on June 6, 2016. Lost about 25lbs so far (not as much as I hoped for). Could really use some advise - have been terribly disappointed in myself and have fallen "off the wagon"

Hi there! I am a preop RNY, 45 year old female 5'5" and my starting weight was 230. I know that in the bariatric world that is on the lower end, but I have not been able to shake this weight but for a few months maybe 4x since my 20s. I can diet but it ALWAYS returns. I have been dx'd sleep Apnea, GERD and Barrett's and not to mention that my job comes with a weight restriction ..... anyways.... My 6 month visit rolls around 3/17 making me likely to be able to schedule my surgery for April. I am looking for opinions, my daughter graduates from HS this spring and her party is June2. I am so sick of the taste of these shakes now (Premier Protein and Myoplex -- anything whey but specifically the bottled ones). To me they smell like rotten milk. Trying to figure out a way to get my protein in without these shakes. Going to try my 'unflavored' protein mixed with various Soups. I miss using soy protein in fruit shakes (banana and berries) and although Whey protein isolate is what is recommended I may need to modify things to meet my daily needs. I've gone too many days being grossed out by shakes and not meeting protein goals. Does anyone have any other creative ideas on how to get that protein goal met daily? I still haven't tried oatmeal with protein…

Here's a bit of my background Lapband done April 2011 Only lost 40 lbs Went in for revision to sleep Nov 5, 2016 And they were only able to take my band out Since it had slipped I needed time to recover. Friday is my surgery, and I decided to go bypass instead of sleeve. I'm very nervous, about dumping and feeling like I'm starving. Plus I'm a very thirsty person and I can chug a bottle of Water lol, so the sipping is going to be a huge adjustment. Anyone else having surgery in January, what day? And what surgery you getting? I was so hoping to be under 200 by my one yr surgiversary which is Feb. 17th. Im so afraid that I'm done losing! My losses haven't been huge by no means but I have been losing at least 5 lbs a month. This has been my longest stall since surgery ...almost 5 weeks [emoji853][emoji107]????

There's no nutrition information on the boxes so I wasn't sure. If I can't ever use it again, I'll be a little sad....but I'll live. Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

I have lately been starting some of my old habits back up and overeating! I think it is due to benign home for the holidays, but I want to get back on track RIGHT NOW! I have signed up for a 5k in April and want to start training for that, and overall, want to start working out more! Does anyone want to take on the task of being my mentor and support system?! I had a revision from a VBG/SR from 16 years ago. Back then I lost 90 pounds and kept it off about 4 years. This time (surgery was 10/24) I had RNY and am down 27 pounds as of Monday. I had the RNY because my silastic ring from my previous surgery was migrating upward and causing choking issues. I wasn't in the best frame of mind and definitely not the best health this time around. I mainly have head hunger. I was sent home with a fork - tender diet. I've definitely been cheating (i.e. had a fun - sized bag of Cheetoes, had a piece of Halloween candy less than 5 grams) so I bought baked Cheetoes and sugar free hard candy trying to curb this. I know this is a big no-no, and I'm not a big drinker anyway, but why is alcohol so bad post-op? Is it because it takes up room in the pouch where the good stuff with Vitamins and nutrients should go? Is it because the pouch is sensitive to alcohol and the healing process is impeded? Is it because the sugar content will more than likely cause dumping? Maybe it's all of these things, I just wanted some feedback so we could help each other make educated choices instead of just following the rest of the herd. Or even worse drink alcohol without knowing what can happen! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Are you not hungry? Are you having food aversions? Some of all of these? I would love to hear your story about how the tool works for you...thanks!

HI everyone, I don't think there are many WLS members that are 70 or older. I think it will be interesting to know about our experiences and how it has affected our lives. I was 72 when I had RNY. I was type II diabetic and taking more insulin all the time with more problems coming on. Dreading the problems of aging with the weight and poor health as I approached 80, was the motivation to find a surgeon. I really did not know very much about the process. The surgeon was head of a uniersity medical bariatric department and very easy to get to know and feel comfortable with. I'm amazed how much better I feel and the additional energy. I feel like 45 again instead …

Celebrating my 75 pound loss over the last 7 months and only 25 to go. The lap band didn't work for me - it was one of the worst decisions of my life. I had it removed in March and in June I had the Gastric Bypass. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I can eat anything healthy. Tried a protein bar that was a little high in sugar and got sick - so I assume I'm a dumper, which is a good thing. I'm in my mid-60's. My surgeon expected me to lose about 40 pounds - so reality was a pleasant surprise. Bypass is not for everyone - but it is definitely awesome for me.
