I have multiple comorbid conditions (diabetes & sleep apnea) and requested my PCP refer me for Bariatric Surgery. I received the following response, ""you must have 1 or more comorbid conditions UNCONTROLLED despite maximal medical treatment: Htn, OSA, triglycerides >1000, lower extremity edema w ulceration, diabetes". Has anyone else been required to have UNCONTROLLED comorbid conditions? They want me to wait until I am covered by Medicare to send my referral. All help is appreciated.
