  1. Well the pain was very intense. I planned on going back to work after 3 weeks but i was out for 6 weeks because of pain and fatigue. I used pain meds for 2 months. A lot longer than most i have heard of. I ended up having a dehisence of my wound which means that my wound opened back up at the top and bottom and that took about 10 weeks to completely heal. My scar is not pretty but compared to my body before at 303 pounds i am pleased. Lol.
  2. I didnt have any gas pains but it was a very rough recovery. I have lost 104 pounds though and it was so worth it!
  3. You guys have really made me feel better about this! I really thought i was failing badly at this whole thing! Lol. I have managed to up my intake a little bit in the past couple days and i have felt an increase in my energy. I had to slow down today because i have been having dry heaving spells and some soreness in my abdomen. It really came out of nowhere. Hopefully i feel better tomorrow. Thank you guys again, you have saved my sanity! Lol
  4. Hi everyone. I am 20 days post op and im only managing to eat about 300 calories daily. My protein has been around 30-40 grams daily. I started back work this week and i am feeling so fatigued and weak. The problem is that i just cant force myself to eat. I feel so nauseous and i have absolutely no appetite. Does anyone have any pointers for me?

  6. Today is day 6 post-op and i can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. The pain has lessened today but im still having a lot of pain where my gallbladder was removed and where my drain is. I am having difficulty getting my water and protein amounts in. I have been managing about 40 oz of water and 10-20 grams of protein daily. Im hoping im through the worst of it and its only up (weight down ????) from here!
  7. Wow that is so helpful. Thank you really. I am a medical assistant but my job isnt too strenuous. Hopefully i will get the binder in the hospital.
  8. @@2006RNYhere thank you so much for your response. This is exactly what i i was hoping to see. Im having to go back to work at 2 weeks out, do you think that is unreasonable? And also where did you get the abdominal binder?

  10. @@WannabeH thank you. I have had one c section as well and i am hoping that the recovery os close to the same. The difference is that this incision will be vertical and longer. Im very nervous. Good luck with your surgery! I will be in for surgery the day before ????????????
  11. My surgeon prefers to perform the surgeries this way because he has better control of the size of my pouch. I was a bit taken back when i first saw him and he told me this but as i have grown to know him, i have come to trust his opinion. He will also be removing my gallbladder and appendix (if reachable) at the same time.
  12. Hi i am having gastric bypass on January 13th. I have researched everything i possibly could about this surgery but im having a hard time finding information about recovery time or experiences with having the surgery performed open rather than laparascopic. Has anyone had open surgery here and can you tell me about the pain, recovery time, ect.? Thanks in advance.

  18. @@NovaL i dont have a pre op diet. Only fasting for 12 hours before the surgery. What about you?
  19. I am having surgery January 13th. I just received my approval today!
  20. Well when i first saw my surgeon 6 months ago before i started my supervised diet, psych eval, etc. We discussed what my insurance required and what i needed to do. I have completed everything and it has been sent off to my insurance company. I think the issue is that my insurance company is in negotiations at the moment with my surgeons office on whether or not they will continue to accept my insurance. Does the make since? Im not so sure anymore lol. I guess im just venting and hoping i will hear something soon!
  21. Hi everyone. This is my first post here and i just have a question. Well first of all i am scheduled for gastric bypass surgery on 10/28/15. I havent received my approval yet, my packet was sent to them today. I have staywell medicaid of florida. I was told by the coordinator on the phone at my surgeons office that they are in the middle of "negotiations" with staywell and she might have a hard time getting my approval. Has anyone gone through this or heard anything about this? I have been anxiously awaiting my surgery date for almost a year and it would be my luck that this happens now!
