I am 4 weeks post op as of tomorrow. I started the soft food stage Sunday. At this point I'm still, I'm still unable to handle much. I eat very slowly but still it's hurts after I eat. Sunday I had some food and only ate about 5 bites and done. Right now the thought of food kinda makes me nauseous. Is this normal? Should I call the dietitian or doctor to see if I should step back a stage? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Our Aldi grocery store has several flavor options of low carb (2g net) Protein bars with 10g protein. Tasty too. Although tasted a little sweet. So I ate about 2/3 of the bar and you guessed it, I'm dumping. Back to the drawing board. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I started my journey September 1st to have the gastric bypass done. I quit smoking, followed my diet, and for the months of November and December I was stuck at needing just 4 more pounds to receive my surgery date. I got so frustrated and depressed that I was stuck there, I pretty much sabotaged myself and I gained weight back. I am so depressed and discouraged. But mostly I am super disappointed in myself. I feel like a failure. This is so hard, I feel like I'm never going to get there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. Hello! My name is Daniel. I'm from the KC, MO area. I had a gastric bypass 8/4/15. My starting weight: 504 lbs. This Wednesday will be my nine month post-op anniversary. I currently weigh 280 lbs. I'm certainly not done but I'm doing great. I'm happy to offer advice or help to anyone needing support. I know there are ebbs and flows; ups and downs; etc. So, feel free to reach out. No two people experience the same path but inspiration and encouragement are universal! I'll include a starting and recent pic. My best, Daniel Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Merry Christmas everyone. I have surgery in 2 days. I started my liquid fast today. I will do my clean out tomorrow. Any advice to make that process easier or is it as awful as I hear ? I am excited but nervous for surgery. I am doing this surgery without any support. Nobody agrees with it so they are all just not helping me. I will get dropped off and picked up at the curb. I knew that going into this but it is starting to bother me a bit. Oh well. I was just wondering what I can expect when I wake up? How is the pain? I don't have a very high pain threshold so I am a little nervous....especially when I come home to my four kids and won't be able to take…

Still sore and tender but it cones with the territory. Hw:305, sw: 289.2, I made through the liquid diet I did cheat the first couple of days but I straightened up and it worked in my advantage. So happy. Noe just trying to stay hydrated. Thx to all who have been following me and everyone who has given me advice along the way.

Pre-surgery I was a binger. I got comfort (or at least thought I did) from that full feeling. I'm about 6 weeks out from RNY and no, I am NOT binging. But full sneaks up on me! I'll be eating some cheese and bam, I go from fine to ow, too much. Is this the way it'll be going forward? I'm fine with it if it is... Just wondering if full, whatever full is (right now it's between 1-2 oz) is always going to be uncomfy.

I tried the Med's for one week with no success. Now he said to stop taking all Vitamins and start taking enzymes. It's annoying because I cannot find enzymes. I also take zofran 8mg, zofran 8mg under tounge and phenegren suppositories 50 mg a day. I do not take all at once. The suppositories work wonders but I'm restricted to 50mg a day and only work for 4 hours also they make me so sleepy. My body has bruises all over it from low zinc all over it and it hurts so bad. Hey. So I had my surgery on the 27th. I had no idea what to expect pain wise. But let me be honest. It was the worst pain I ever felt in my life times 10. And I've had kids so I have a perspective on pain. I woke up loopy and thinking "hell yes. I got this!' but as the meds wore off, so did that feeling. It went from a pain scale of 1 to 10 within a couple hours. They started with their basic meds, then upgraded me, then went to an iv med. But they wouldn't keep me on that even though the iv worked. They wanted me on something I could take at home which does make sense. I was crying and couldn't breathe from the pain. I had chest pains and couldn't breathe so …

Luckily I have extremely thick hair, but its thinning so much by my standards of what i'm used to, I'm scared i'll go bald! My doctor started me on 2,500 mcg of Biotin but told me unfortunately the hair loss just happens, the only thing i can really do is stock up on Protein and biotin to make sure the hair that grows back is thick and healthy. In fact I almost don't dump at all and can eat most Desserts I like (I just hope I don't gain a lot of weight back. I got my gastric bypass on 9/20 and since then I have battled a stricture and ulcer. After multiple dilations I am only getting sick maybe once a week now. However, after months of not being able to eat, I feel like I can eat too much now. I can eat almost a cup of food now at one sitting and not even be full. I know that eventually that's the goal but isn't this like years out?? I'm afraid I've stretched my pouch beyond repair. Can you really reset your pouch? Please help any advice is appreciated.

I'm converting from band to RNY or Sleeve - surgeon said it depends on what the scar tissue situation looks like. I have been having classic symptoms of gallstones for the last couple of weeks. I saw my surgeon, who ordered an ultrasound and scheduled gall bladder removal for December 30. Hi All, I've been a member of this site since March 2016, but have spent most of last year doing research on all 3 surgeries: sleeve, bypass, and lap-band. I'm in the home stretch of this journey. I have only 1 more NUT visit to go. I knew I didn't want the lap-band because I didn't want the foreign object and corrosion. I wanted the sleeve because the procedure seemed not as bad to use a bougie, run the stapler and "over-sew" the . I didn't think of doing the bypass because it seemed really complicated, scary and and mortality rate seemed high to me. I only said this because since I've made the decision to do WLS,two people have told me that they knew someone who …

I currently take 36 mg iron in my chewable Multivitamin. I am okay with waiting, except for the fact that my hair is falling out like crazy.
