I am so excited. Holy cow. I started this journey about a year ago. and now there is just a measly 15 days left! How am I going to sleep the night before? What pajamas am I going to wear?! These are such happy questions I don't mind asking myself over and over again. I know when i start my pre-op diet tomorrow, I will probably be singing a different tune, but today I'm on cloud nine that its coming true. Ive never been so ready to do something hard before. I know its going to be a struggle, but now I'm going to be digging a hole with a shovel instead of a spoon. Thank God. I'm so excited.

Hi All, I am trying to decide whether to have the RNY gastric bypass. My PCP is against it citing that she has 6 patients who she treats and who've had major complications from the surgery, including osteroperosis. Has anyone had this complication or know of anyone who has?

I am 8 months out and have been having severe constipation. While in the ER one of the surgeons did a rectal exam and said that he had never seen a case like mine. I was told I have a Redundant Colon. I went to see a Colorectal Surgeon and was given a pill to swallow. The pill has a bunch of markers and I will take two X-rays to see where there are at. I'm finally 6 weeks out. Finally food, meals, not just ingredients. My head says carbs and bigger portions. My stomach says He'll No to the bigger portions, and I'm terrified of eating the wrong carb or getting dumping syndrome while at work, so I'm freaking out about the carbs. And I want chocolate but that's got to be my head playing tricks on me. I do believe in everything in moderation but if I had the tools the practice moderation in the past I wouldn't have needed gastric bypass surgery to begin with. There is a support group meeting at my hospital on Monday evening, I'm going to try to go but am working a ton of hours this weekend. May just have to drag my…

So I'm 16 days post op and I'm having so many issues with food and liquids. I'm only averaging about 30 oz of fluids a day and 200-300 calories if I'm lucky. I'm barely getting in any Protein. Less than 10 g a day. I don't know what to do... so much seems to make me nauseous and I can't even stand the thought of food. I've already been to the hospital for nausea and dehydration. My mom is convinced that when I see the surgeons pa tomorrow that they are going to send me to the hospital to force me to eat. She thinks I'm deliberately starving myself for attention or that I'm depressed. I am upset about how things are playing out but I'm not depressed. I know this will pass …

I am 8 months out and since the beginning 8 months ago I have been having severe nausea and vomiting. I am to the point that I do not even eat much at all anymore. I have been to the ER and admitted to the hospital more times then I like to know. I have tried Zofran 8mg under my tounge, Zofran 8mg Pills, Reglan, Benadryl, and Tygan. The only thing that works now is IV 4mg Zofran. I am allergic to Compazine. I am looking into having a nurse come to my home to place an IV to give fluids n Zofran. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in the process of trying to get RNY and I'm just wondering how soon y'all returned to work. I work in the medical field and do a lot of physical work. Walking, standing, bending, lifting (50 lbs or so), crouching, reaching etc, for 10 hours a day When did you guys return to work, or when we're you able to attain this level of activity? Looking to hear from those that had rny specifically. Thanks!

I had my gastric Bypass Surgery on 11/6/16 and have lost 52 pounds. I am having some issues and was wondering if anyone else has experienced any of the following issues: 1) when I speak my voice is strained - sounds hoarse all the time since surgery. saw an ENT said everything is fine 2) nose is always running 3) lately when I have a bowel movement I have to throw up at the same time. Comes out both ends. And get the chills really bad. I am only having a Protein shake for Breakfast lunch consists of 1 thin sliced turkey breast - low solium with 1 thin sliced lowfat swiss cheese afternoon snack - 1 slice of low-fat sharp cheese and 5 cashews or almonds dinner:…

My surgeon said it is my choice whether i have gastric sleeve or bypass. If I had to decide in this moment, I would say I am doing the bypass. If it was your choice could you help me by responding why you are choosing or chose gastric bypass. My main reason I want to have a fear of dumping so I won't eat foods high in sugar or fat. My fear is that it is riskier because there is more cutting and stitching involved. I also wonder about still feeling hunger because the rest of the stomach is left behind and I will still produce the hormone associated with hunger, with the sleeve it was my understanding is that since they remove a large portion of the stomach, you don't …

I started my journey at 368 pounds on the day of surgery I weighed 345 pounds, I am just two months out of surgery and I weighed 265 this morning. I am nauseated constantly and have a very limited diet. On the majority of the days I hit or get really close to my Protein goals and always hit my Water goal. I am exhausted, napping during the day and going to bed earlier and earlier every night. If I try even the lightest of physical activity, after only a minute or two I get light headed and dizzy. I saw my surgeon two weeks ago and spoke with him and he did not seem to concerned. I have lost another 20 pounds since that appointment. Surgeon did order an upper GI sca…

I'm 9 months post-op and ever since I got the surgery I've been getting dizzy spells (fainting like feeling) whenever I get up from either sitting or sleeping.. my Water intake is good and would on average get 1 sachet of ORS per day (or every other day) just to keep things balanced. Hi all, I'm 14 months out, 145lbs down from starting at 286! In the past 3 months when I do something (like today I went bowling with the family, picked up the house and did laundry) I'm knocked on my butt, feeling dizzy and tired. From a DR's view everything is perfect, lab work, blood pressure. Has anyone experienced feeling like this? I was to be active and do things! This is so annoying! Hi All! This Tuesday marks 6 weeks. I am down 20 lbs since GB surgery, and very happy about that. The slower I lose, the less saggy skin I'll have to deal with. I am really pushing my Protein ( in a dire attempt to prevent hairloss) which is contributing to a higher caloric intake. For me, I cannot tolerate Any fish. It constantly feels stuck, so I am avoiding it for awhile. Ground Turkey and dark meat chicken have been a life saver. I am on low residue (soft cooked food) and Tuesday I can start the long term general diet. Below is what I have been eating for 2 weeks with no problem. Turkey chili, beef chili, lunch meat, deli cheese, eggs/whites, refried Beans, …

I am now 1 month+ post op and wondering if I'll ever be able to eat at least close to normal again. I know the portions will be much less, but what are the Bypass Veterans eating? Can they eat lightly fried foods, noodles, sweets, chips, bread, etc. I'm not planning on eating them on a regular basis after going through all this, and I refuse to gain weight back. I would just like to know if I can have a little treat every now and then without getting sick! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Help please My band to bypass was at the end of Nov and I've had constant sickness and diarrhoea since. I'm stuck in bed unable to walk due to exhaustion and feeling completely lost? I feel like I am simply slowly starving. Drs have done tests but the best they could say was I had a bad case of a gastrointestinal infection?? No antibiotics. I'm also unable to take my regular medications. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do to help myself? Thank you x Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

3 weeks post op bypass and just started my supplements. Curious how many pills is safe to take at one time. Would hate to get an obstruction of pills in my gut or stomach. Obviously not a lot at once but these Calcium tabs are huge! The dose calls for 2 tabs twice a day. I have no problem swallowing the pills whole (actually they feel rough and get hung going down when cut in half) but can I take 2 at a time or do I have to space out all 4 tabs throughout the day. That's hard to keep up with 5 different dosing times (5th being my Iron and Multivitamin since you can't take iron and calcium together). Just curious what everyone else does for supplement timing and how m…

Hi, I'm considering both Gastric Bypass and Gastric Sleeve and trying to unspderstand why folks have chosen one over the other. I had thought for sure I wanted the sleeve to avoid the possible nutritional deficiencies and it just seemed like bypass had a lot of other issues like dumping, etc. the only reason I'm doubting my original plan is that I have acid reflux and have been on what's considered a low dose of omeprazole (20 mg daily) for about 7 years. I've read that for some people reflux can get really really bad after the sleeve. But there also seems to be stomach ulceration as a long term risk of bypass. Help! I feel paralyzed trying to make the right choice…

Hi all. Brand new here. So happy to find this app while researching my pending surgery. I was looking for some advice. I have Crowns disease but my GI dr is on board with Bariatric surgery. I just had an EGD done last week with my Bariatric surgeon. After the test he told my mother that I had a giant hiatal hernia and might not be able to have the surgery. He told my mother to continue on my preop work and he would know more when he reviewed all my records. I just got my EGD report last week and it just said I couldn't have the Sleeve and would have to do the Bypass if I wanted to proceed. I have my next appt on 2/21 which will b the appt I set up my surgery for. You ne…
