I know I can't expect everyone around the office to not eat anything I can't have but it's so hard! I'm 4 weeks post op gastric bypass so I'm on soft foods. I've been back to work a week and have had several crying sessions because I feel sorry for myself because I can't have that food. I'm learning a new way of thinking about food but my question is: Does anyone have a tips to surviving life in an office post op?

  6. Hey guys. I had my surgery on 8/17/2016 and so far I'm 99 down (starting weight of 325) but I've found I'm having some plateau trouble and I'm HUNGRY. Like seriously hungry for the first time since the surgery. I don't really get dumping syndrome anymore and I find I have some serious sweet tooth cravings during the day. I could use some help from a guy who has had long term success - meal plans, exercise routines, accountability check-in maybe? I have about 30 pounds left to lose and want someone to check in with other than my doctors on a regular basis!

I'm 11 months post-op RNY. I stopped taking the chewable multivitamins since they started breaking down in my pill tray (I need a pill tray because I can't remember crap). Then started taking multivitamins in pill form (had to cut in half). Does anyone use a gel form multivitamin and if so are they small enough to swallow? Thanks.

As time grows closer to my surgery date I like many am getting cold feet. As I research more and more I have been reading about MANY people have teeth breaking, cavities, bone loss and needing to have root canals. Person after person was completly devastated about never being told about this side effect. All are getting or have gotton dentures because it was so bad. Many could not keep up with the dental bills. I would love to hear from some people who have had surgery a numbers of years ago and hear their thoughts. Thanks

  11. I had surgery October 3rd so I'm almost 5 months out. But started weight loss last January. Well I didn't post on Facebook or tell everyone. People close to me knew or if someone asked. I had a battle with cancer last year and my work was concerned about that, so I fessed up. I got married Saturday February the 11th. Some distant family and friends attended who didn't know I had changed so much. A lady from my church who does know over heard 2 women contemplating "what had happened to me" drugs being one conclusion. Seriously. I'm the last person who would do that. My now husband a police officer by day pastor 24/7 I've never really even drank. Rant over just wondered …

  14. I'm 15 months post op and sometimes it worries me how much I can eat. I try to keep my entire dinner plate to the sum of a 1 cup portion, but I rarely get the full feeling. Scares me that I've stretched my pouch. I've had no regain but I do fluctuate 2 pounds or so . I've stopped loosing at 165 pounds from 320 pounds. What are some other people's experiences?

hi all! I am now a gastric bypass recipient. So far the difference between the band and the bypass is night and day. No "stuck" feeling, no nausea. It's so different, and in the best way. I am only 1.5 weeks out, but even in this small amount of time, the bypass far exceeds my hopes already. the band sucked, was unhealthy and really not manageable for me. I thought about the revision surgery for 2 years after I got my band removed and gained any weight lost back. Finally went for it ,and I am glad so far. the only fly in the ointment is head hunger. I just keep telling myself that the feeling of wanting something will pass, and its just a feeling, not a biolog…

After getting used to the diet change, I decided to start taking the required Vitamins so i dont have to get into another new habit after surgery. My concern is that the chewable vitamins total 17g of carbs. Thats half of my carb allowance per day just for vitamins!! It wont help to switch to pills because after surgery it will be difficult and they dont absorb as quickly. Are there any low carb chewable vitamins that anyone is taking? I havent looked into liquid vitamins yet, so opinions on that would be great too. Ill be asking my pcp next week if the Vitamin carbs count towar…

So I had the sleeve in 01/13 and will be having the bypass/RNY on Tuesday (03/07). I've always had issues with eating and hydrating but the last year I'm pretty solid on fluids at least. I'm obviously doing my liquid diet and have gradually moved to more and more liquids the past couple of days including the Protein as supplement but I'm clearly dehydrated and my lips are chapping. My concern is, if I'm this dehydrated how am I gonna be after my bypass when it's even harder? Any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  27. Okay! Here it goes. I had surgery on the 17th of Feb. Today marks 2 weeks post op. Surgery went well. Spent 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital. The 1st day I accidentally ate an orange and almost died. The 1st week I did well. Protein shake and Oikos yogurts and pain pills. The doctor told me to increase my Water intake but I just can't drink two bottles a day. This week I felt hungry. I was starving. The Protein shakes weren't cutting it. I decided to start soft food earlier. He's the confession. I would chew the food and spit it out. I had some meatballs, and fish, and food I know I shouldn't be eating. I just came home from surgery (3 days post op) and I ate a orange. It just totally crossed my mind that that wasn't allowed. I feel horrible physically and emotionally. I feel like a failure. It felt like a rock was stuck in my throats. I threw up what I could. I'm feeling a lil better and taking sips of Water but I just feel horrible. I took my liquid hydrocodone but I threw up most of that too. Ugh. I'm just a disaster.

Hello everyone this is my first post,so please bear with me. I have PCOS and hypothyroidism, and started the journey for WLS i was leaning more towards gastric sleeve, due to recovery time and some other reasons but i was told due to my issues and the amount i need to loose (i am 5'4" and 315 lbs) that bypass would be better. I guess my main question is has anyone who has PCOS and hypothyroidism had the bypass, did it help with symptoms? How was weight loss? I am unable to have kids due to my PCOS, has anyone been in this same boat and been able to have kids after weight loss due to the symptoms of PCOS decreasing? Thanks

Its main role is to store energy in the form of fat, although it also cushions and insulates the body. Excess adipose tissue (fat cells) can lead to problematic changes in metabolism, blood sugar control and blood pressure. Recently scientist have been exploring the role of fat cells acts on the brain to signal satiety (hunger control). More recently, researchers have been delving into the mechanisms that adipose tissue uses to affect other parts of the body. A recent report in the journal Nature investigates one possible source of s…

I've been struggling with my emotions being all over the place as well as my energy levels and eating tolerances. I keep hearing that all this is normal, but I'm just needing a friend or friends that have been where I am at or are currently dealing with the same issues to talk to. My family is very supportive, but I have never felt this out of control of my own body and emotions before. Any advice is welcomed!

I'm trying to get back on track by doing the 5 day pouch reset to help me feel the way I did straight after the surgery again.
