I'm so bummed. Surgery was 3/23. HW was 405 on 1/18/17. Day of surgery was 379. Today I am 6.5 weeks out and I'm at 352.8. 26.2lbs lost since surgery. The majority of that was in the first couple weeks after surgery since then it's been 1 to 2 lbs a week. I accepted that as I had not started my exercise routine until I was cleared to do so last week at my 6 week follow up appointment. I immediately started exercising. My surgeon told me to incorporate resistance training, which I did. I'm sore but I loved it. And this week I only lost 0.2lbs. I don't understand. Is this a stall? And why am I losing slow? I have a hard time believing that my muscles retain water from soren…

I'm one year post op as of 2-17-17..... I have been teetering between 201-204 for well over a month.....My Dr said it's my body's metabolism catching up and that it will start coming off again as long as I keep doing what I'm suppose to be doing. I'm just so desperate to see 199 on that scale!! She was very pleased with my progress thus far so that's a good thing [emoji16][emoji106]...Hubby and I are going to check out some gyms tomorrow....it's time to do something other then walking [emoji106]

I am 34 days post op and in general im feeling great. I can pick my one year old up again and my side has pretty much quit hurting unless im really tired. My issue is im starting to try to eat protein and not just drink it. And one day it will go down just fine but the next it will kill me. I have pain all the way up and down my back. Today i was lucky enough it actually came up but on Sunday i was not, i was in pain for like 5 hours on Sunday. Both times it was meat. On sunday i ate sliced roast beef with sauce and i kind of understood maybe it was too soon. But today i ate tuna, ive eaten tuna just fine other times. Is this normal? I have already had one dilation and …

Hey everyone. I had my surgery on 04/18. So ten days have gone by. The first week I struggled getting 2oz of protein shake per day down. And would attempt to drink water. Now, I'm on soft foods. But I'm gaining weight. Is this normal. I was down 7 lbs since surgery and now I'm back up a pound and a half. What's really going on? Has anyone had similar issues?

Hi again everyone: I am probably going to start posting questions I think up in here when I have them, so please bear with me. My husband and I were talking earlier today about when to put in my request for short-term disability for my surgery. I told him since I won't get my surgery date until late August there is no reason to think about doing it anytime soon, but I do wonder what some people have said to their employers when they put in their short-term dis requests. My concern is if I tell them that I'm getting gastric bypass surgery that they will deny my disability request. My surgeon's office said that they can write me something general that doesn't go into d…

I have researched wls for 2 years. I have spent hundreds of hours reading forums, talking to health care professionals and people who have had wls. I finally decided to get the sleeve and have gone through all my appointments: sleep, pulmonary, cardiology, psych, nutrition, biometrics. I am about to start my preop diet and now I am losing confidence!! I have about 80 pounds to lose and I have been unsuccessful for 12 years now! But there is this voice in my head saying that maybe if I try hard enough one more time, I can do it myself. Even though I have failed countless times in the past. I have been super excited and confident about my decision up until now. Now I'm afra…

Hello everyone! This is my first time to this site and I'm so glad I found it. My surgery is scheduled for, Tuesday 5/16/17, and I couldn't be more excited that it's finally about to happen. Though I'm excited I also am beginning to get quite anxious. I've had multiple surgeries throughout my 40 yrs and haven't ever experienced so much anxiety or such a roller coaster of emotions. Hopefully reading about some of the members that have already had their surgeries will help along with knowing that their are others that have or are experiencing the same things. Anyways I'm just glad I found this site ☺

I "should" be getting a call today to tell me that the surgeon reviewed my files of "hoop proof" to approve and send to insurance. My question, when I went to see a dietician as an insurance requirement to receive clearance for surgery, she was the one to review all of the pre and post op diet info. I have the guides from her to follow when time. Has anyone else been given the preop diet from the NUT instead of surgeon? I keep seeing that some people have liquid only diets while other have lean proteins and veg diets and since mine states the latter, I want to make sure it's correct. Of course I'll be talking to my surgeon when I get the date set. Just wondering if this …

So, I'm curious. After surgery, when do you generally see the weight loss start up? 1 week after? 2 weeks? I'm not sure if I'm not losing because of barely getting nutrients in, the fact that there's probably still IV fluids in me or if it's the swelling. All I'm eating are broth, Jello and popsicles. I did eat a little bit of Greek yogurt today and drank a little medicine cup full of a Protein shake.

I'm on soft food, and expected to feel the restriction of a smaller stomach, but I don't. Had a can of tuna with no problem, full but not uncomfortable. I keep reading about people eating a few bites and feeling full, and I feel like I can eat a lot more than expected. Is this normal? I'm so afraid of falling back into old patterns of binging. I had an easy recovery, no pain, and started working out half hour a day. Now at two weeks, I'm exhausted all the time. I can be up and moving for max three hours, I then crash and nap, sleep 9 hours a night, and then take a morning nap. I was feeling so great, and now I'm returning to work and I don't know how I'm going to stay aw…

Today is a crucial day for my preop timeline. The last two pieces of the puzzle are hopefully going to be in place today so my surgeon can submit for insurance authorization. I am having my last weigh in at my PCP and my final appointment at my sleep center to pick up my clearance. Upon submission for insurance auth, I also get to choose my surgery date, which they told me could be as early as late May! To top it ALL off, I finally fit back into my spanx!!! The last time I tried to get them on, I pulled a muscle in my neck. Today I got them on without a struggle and feel like I can finally breathe. The support of my flabby belly is much needed. HW: 328 (02/22/17) SW: T…

Hi everyone reading. I'm 5'8 and 318 lbs. I've been looking into surgery for weight loss since 2013. I never pursued it at the time because my hubby and I had our 3rd and last daughter. I'm the highest weight I've ever been. My spine surgeon referred me to a bariatric surgeon due to osteoarthritis in my lower back and sacroiliac joint deterioration mostly due to being overweight since I started (TMI) my monthly at age 12. Any info on the process? I really want the gastric bypass done. I go to my first appointment with the surgeon May 18th...my birthday lol, I'll be 30.Thanks for any advice!

Hello all, I'm a 47 year old female living in South Central PA. I hit my 1 year surgery anniversary on February 15th. I've list over 75 lbs., and I've stalled. Those old emotional fears are creeping back in and I'm afraid I'm done losing weight. I can eat more food and sometimes I'm not making the right choices. I feel like I'm living in constant fear. Does/did anyone ever experience this? Any seasoned mentors out there with some wisdom to spread? [emoji6]
