  2. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and my drain is still very active. It puts out 150 ml per day. Doctor says it needs to be down to 30. I just wonder how long others had it. I need to go back to work because I'm out of paid days. Thanks for responding.

Hey everyone, So I'm 7 days out from my RNY. 3 days ago I lost 6.6, the next day I lost 2, and last night I literally only lost ounces. I am obviously still on my liquid phase. Has anyone experienced this? I tend to worry a bit and when the surgeon says it'll drop quickly especially right after surgery when I lose ounces I guess I'm a bit concerned only losing ounces... wondering if this is normal!

I'm so excited! I can't believe time has gone so fast since I got my surgery day in January! So I am having my band taken out and revised to a RNY. Over the last 2.5 months I have also quit smoking (smoked for 6 years) so that was a little taxing but I made it! My dr let me know that I will be in the hospital for 2 days so if there is anything you suggest to bring to the hospital I am all ears! For anyone who is ok social media I do have a fitness Instagram that was made when I was working out and training and trying the lose weight naturally (because my band wasn't restricted) but have since changed it so my IG name is rny_in_ny. I also have a blog RnyinNY.wordpress.com …

I'm wondering if anybody knows the answer to this. They say normally, digestion takes about 8+ hours. That's when it's going through both your small intestine and your large intestine though. After a gastric bypass, about how long does it take to digest food? Thanks for any help you can offer. (Surgery in August)

  12. Hey all! I was wondering if anyone in the community has undergone gastric bypass surgery after having their thyroid totally removed? I cannot seem to find much information on the efficacy of weight loss surgery in a patient that has had a complete removal and now solely relies on synthroid for thyroid function. I initially wanted VSG, but the more I think about it I'm leaning towards RNY. I have my final surgery approval appointment on may 17th and I have to basically tell the surgeon what I want to do. Any help would be amazing!!

So I'm only in day two of my preop clear liquid only diet and yesterday evening I had 3 ounces of meat and was very satisfied for the rest of the night. My head hunger went away and I slept well. Today I have been struggling worse with the head hunger because I feel weak and wobbly. I was making dinner for my family as I enjoyed a cup of tea and wanted to see if the roast was seasoned well and cooked without being chewy so I had a bite. No more than that. All of a sudden i was very satisfied and wasn't so hungry or weird feeling. It's gotta be all in my head. I've lost 50 pounds just on the 2 1/2 month dr monitored diet, before starting the 1 week liquid diet, so I'm not …

Hi all, I'm 14 weeks out and just had my second follow up appointment. I'm doing excellent on all fronts, my bloodwork and rate of weight loss are great. So, yay! However, my PA says I will likely never reach my goal weight. This pissed me off to no end! I've been wanting to be in the 120s for many years. I was 145 at my lowest (after losing 120 pounds the old fashioned way), and I felt that 20 more pounds down would have been comfortable for me, I still felt blah and overweight at 145 (I'm 5'5). I prodded to understand why she thought I wouldn't get to my goal, recognizing that I know there is a point where surgery alone not get me all the way there (it wo…

I have a class 3 parosophogeal hiatal hernia and have been very sick, losing 25 lbs. I am on liquids and soft foods the consistency of "paste" and have been since Feb.21. I have received my first letter of insurance approval but must follow a 3 month supervised diet. I have not yet met my Bariatric Doctor but was referred to him by my initial surgeon who recommended fixing the large hernia and doing WLS at the same time. Has anyone else had this done? What is the recovery time like? Do you have to keep on the supervised diet even though already on a very restricted diet due to the hernia? Lost 21lbs in the preop diet and 16lbs post op so far. I'm eating between 600-800cals per day. On on purees. My meals are like this: Breakfast: premier protein shake Snack: Greek yogurt Lunch: soup- like a chicken broth with veg Dinner: 1/3 cup puréed meat, 1/4 cup each of puréed veg and potatoes I'm getting about 80 oz of water. Protein is about 60g so yesterday I also added another shake to get to 90. I'm nervous to go on regular foods soon and gain if I'm not losing now. Any other suggestions? Or just calm t…

I can't stand broth any longer and those clear protein drinks (Isopure, etc) are just so sweet and disgusting to me. I had a few in my pre-op 10 day liquid diet. The only things that don't gag me today are water, decaf peach iced tea, and the Trader Joe's Aria protein powder (vanilla) with some almond milk. Oh and a couple of sf popsicles a day. 23. Hi all, I am experiencing reflux sypmtoms two years post Gastric Bypass (revision from lap band) and ultrasound didn't show anything so I now have to have an esophageal manometry and 24 hour PH test done. Both tests involve having tubes inserted up my nose and down the back of my throat, and it's causing me some anxiety thinking about having it done. I woke up with an NG tube after the surgery and having it removed was quite uncomfortable, so I'm nervous about being awake while having two seperate tubes inserted. Can anyone talk me through their experience? Did you gag/choke while they were putting the tubes in?

  34. Well I started with lapband surgery back in 2009 and had it emptied for a few years while going through IVF and then the pregnancy. When it came time to start adding fill again I had a lot of trouble because of scar tissue that had built up under the band so it was replaced, then that one was replaced because of a slip. As a result I had gastric bypass surgery last year but barely lost weight in recovery and have gone up and down ever since. The surgeon wants me to have an overstitch procedure to reduce the size of the pouch but unexpectedly I am pregnant again so everything is on hold for the moment.
