  2. I'm sending this out to those who have been revised from band to RNY for several years now. But anyone who has had RNY who would like to chime in are welcomed as well. I'm curious about loss after regain. Does it get harder the longer out you get? I'm over a year out and have gone up just slightly (a couple of pounds) but I'm getting back on track. Those of you even further out, is it hard to lose that regain? Is it easier to stay on track?

Hi everyone-had GBS on 9/14, everything went great & I'm healing nicely. I couldn't be more relieved or grateful as I know many others have had to struggle with complications right from the start. At the risk of sounding "whiney" - I am a bit worried though. I have been able to tolerate all full fluids and am planning on starting puréed soon. My worry is that I not getting this "full" feeling I was counting on as part of our great tool in the initial stage. Obviously I know it's up to me to make the right life style changes etc but I was really counting on having this new boundary to help me through the initial stages as a prompt/reminder....I of course have let my i…

I had gastric bypass surgery on Monday, October 31st. I did my two week pre-op diet without any cheating which amazed me. I didn't know I had that in me. Surgery went well and even though I had some urine retention due to the anesthesia and had to be catheriterized I think I handled it all fairly well. I was released late the next day. My Mom and husband were there to take care of me. I had an allergic reaction to the twice daily Lovanox injections and the doctor told me to cut them out and be sure to get up and walk and do my leg pumps. I don't remember much from that week other than that. This week has been a whole heck of a lot different. Took my OnQ pump out late la…

I've been lurking on here for a couple of months. I feel like I know everyone. With each story I am so inspired. I love how uplifting and supportive everyone is. Soooo with that being said HELLO friends!! I have learned so much just from reading your posts. I have done 6 months of the supervised diet and now I am just waiting on my insurance to approve. I am so excited to have this opportunity. At the same time I am lacking support. I have recently ( 3 weeks ago) decided to leave my husband of 6 years and get a protection order against him. He was extremely controlling and possessive to the point where I have had no one...absolutely no one in my life for the past 3 ye…

I am about 7 months out from rny surgery. I had to have a tooth removed today because it cracked after a root canal. The oral surgeon told me to 'try' to do a soft food diet for a day or two, if I can. LOL....two days of soft food? Buddy, I did two weeks of liquids and six weeks of soft foods....two days is no big deal. Made me smile, so I thought I would share. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I am just starting the process with the bariatric clinic at the Richmond centre. I'm wondering if there's anyone in Calgary looking for a buddy. I'd like to meet up with someone just to talk about the process and share the experience with someone who can relate. It would be nice to form some sort of friendship and have someone to talk with about issues that may arise in the coming months. Just a bit about me, I'm 25 years old. I've been overweight/obese my entire life. My earliest memories begin at the age of 3, being teased by other kids who were normal weight. I also think I have a food addiction. If your interested in having someone to talk to, to share this journ…

  21. I'm a few days shy of five months post-op and down 87 pounds. I'm 18 pounds from the top end of a "normal" BMI at 150. I'm still losing at a rate of 2-4 pounds a week, so if I keep following my current average trend I'll be there in six weeks. I met with a nutritionist who is quite alarmed at the amount of the loss and the potential for my food tolerance issues to not only keep it going but potentially cause damage to my heart muscle if it hasn't all ready. She readily admitted that she doesn't have much experience with gastric bypass patients but still thought it seems abnormal. She also said that 130 pounds would be the point at which action would absolutely need to be …

Super nervous, seven days until surgery. I'm having the full bypass on the 6th. I feel so overwhelmed with information, I have a huge folder with tons of print outs and notes i've taken from support groups, doctor and nurse visits... but I still feel so unprepared. I still haven't figured out what Protein drink i'll be drinking post op. GNC had one that was supposedly tasteless. I haven't tried it yet. I've tried a bunch of others but they are just gross. I'm afraid I will have this surgery and not have a Protein shake. Please, any advice or help? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm honestly so stunned by the fact that my bypass surgery recovery has been SO much less painful than recovery from having my band replaced. With the band I felt pressure/pain in my diaphragm for months after surgery... My port pain NEVER went away in 5 years... I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath for such a long time because it hurt. I was on Percoset for a couple weeks and still on OTC pain meds regularly afterwards. And the gas pain! Oh my gosh, I needed a heating pad. The bypass recovery has been a walk in the park. Two nights in the hospital in which I happily took narcotics every time they were offered (though to be honest my pain level was really low.…

  26. So yep -- compared to many on here, I have next to no experience ... but just wanted to share observations from 2 weeks past surgery for others in my shoes -- or others that will be there soon. 1. I sure picked the easy way out of this! The answer to that is no. This process has completely changed my life, my thinking, my approach, each and every day and each an every hour. But in order to get control over this weight problem that is puling down so much else it needs to happen. I don't think I was aware of the level of change -- but it's significant -- and it's important. 2. Thank God I am not hungry anymore! I wish. I am. Not in the same gnawing going to eat …

So I'm 2 months post-op tomorrow and have been dealing with severe regret and depression since day 1 post-op. Everyone tells me it will go away, that once I see the weight loss that I will be happy that I choose to have surgery. I'm still not happy, despite the weightloss. Couple the regret with depression, it's like I'm just existing, not living. I tell everyone that I feel like I died on the operating table, not in the physical sense, but in every way else...like I'm just a shell. I know that sounds morbid but I can't help it. I'm angry and jealous of my family to the point that I feel it turning to hate. They continue to cook and order my favorite foods and stuff their…

I ended up on my left side. Banged my knee shoulder and ribs on the top of the step. Last night sleeping was awful. Very sensitive to the touch. Today I'm sore all over!
