Well it's been long journey...i had lapband for a little over 2 years and had trouble with it, I thought i was going to have revision 6 months ago,but insurance changed rule to 12. With the help of my awesome doctor, I am approved. I have friends that are trying to talk me out of it, some even saying I just need to be disciples on diet and exercise. But I still choose to do this...i am happy with my decision, and can't wait for next step Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320A using the BariatricPal App

I had my surgery about 3 months ago and I just don't seem to have energy for anything. I seem to get short of breath easily and it's starting to get annoying. I'm taking all my Vitamins and a crap load of Calcium since I suffered from low calcium before the procedure. I'm drinking an Isopure a day for Protein. Any suggestions? I'm tired of being tired!! Hi Everyone!!! I am in the initial stages of my weight loss journey. I'm scared, yet excited! My weight has been an issue since I was a small child. I can remember starting Weight Watchers for the first time, when I was in the 5th grade. Even though I've always had "a beautiful face", my weight seems to be what people have judged me by. I've accomplished a lot in my life, but yet my weight has kept me from being everything I can be. It's time for change. Back in 2002, when I was 39 years old, I joined Weight Watchers (again). This time it stuck and I lost about 110 lbs. I worked really hard at it and the only way I could lose the weight and maintain it was to …

  7. Hello All! I had Gastric Bypass on July 14, 2016. My highest weight was 275. I have lost weight on my own many times but always fail to keep it off. When I started my WLS journey, I weighed in at 258. The day of surgery, I weighed 236 and I currently weight 185. My next post of visit is November 7. At my last post op (September 7), my surgeon told me she expected me to lose another 30 to 40 pounds by November 7th. I have only lost 3!!!! I am happy with my results so far, but I am concerned that I have started my self destructive ways that always tend to get the best of me. I am able to eat pretty much ANYTHING. NO DUMPING! I have started eating carbs again a…

My revision from lapband to gastric bypass on October 11 has come with complications. I went home last Friday at 1, spiked a fever of 102 and was back in the hospital ER at 7pm...it was diagnosed as a pneumonia, and a partially collapsed lung..not to mention I still have surgical pain. I'm still here in the hospital and its Wednesday. I know I'm getting better and stronger everyday, but it's hard being away from my girls even though they come to see me almost everyday. Have any of you had setbacks from surgery that you're still trying to overcome?

I am absolutely over the moon excited right now. I finished my 6 months supervised diet/nutrition with my surgeon's office back in April, but I was denied when it was submitted to insurance, despite having a BMI of 42 and GERD (they denied it and said GERD wasn't one of their approved co-morbidities, and my insurance plan requires a co-morbidity regardless of BMI). I immediately contacted Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy and began the appeals process with them. Within a month of them sending in my (wonderfully written) appeal letter, I just received a call to let me know that United has approved me for surgery and has provided their office with the approval and authorization…

When you had your revision (if it was one procedure removing band and converting to rny) did you have to stay overnight or was this an outpatient procedure? My band was outpatient. Since I have a 3 year old, I'm hoping for outpatient again. My mother-in-law acted like I was nuts when I told her I thought it was outpatient. Am I crazy? Lol. Hi, I'm 7 days post op, I had removal of a lap band as well as a bypass! I had very minimal pain from the bypass, however the band site was excruciating. I've been home for 2 days now and I'm able to keep my fluids up with water however anything else is very minimal. I have a shake with added protein powder in the morning and something similar at lunch how ever it's only about 1/4 of a cup at the moment which I understand is normal and at tea I have some type of soup. I'm just so exhausted throughout the day, I can't do much but sleep and even activities such as walking to the letter box makes my muscles feel like jelly, just hoping I can start feeling more alert soon! This is it, my last day of my old unhealthy life (except for the two week liquid diet). I'm excited to see what's in store for me next. While I didn't think in a million years I'd be able to stick to the liquid diet, I did an absolutely amazing job. I even had two weddings to attend these last two weekend and wasn't able to eat at either one of them, that was tough. Can anyone give me some feedback about how I will feel when I wake up. I'm not sure why, but that seems to be what I'm fixated on at the moment, just very very nervous. To all of you having surgery soon like me, I wish you the very best. Maddie

I feel like I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing but for the past few days the exhaustion has been extreme. I have dropped weight very quickly, 44lbs in 6 weeks, maybe too fast? 28. I'm about 3 1/2 months out from RNY. I lost 7 lbs last week. My pattern seems to be 2-3 lbs down one week and 3-5 lbs the next, but last week is a new record for me since the first month after surgery. I'm 13.5 from my goal and 33.5 from a "healthy" BMI just under 25% so I can certainly afford to lose a bunch more. I'm just wondering when the rapid loss generally starts to taper off because I'm concerned about the RNY weight loss masking some other health issue that also causes weight loss. Yes, I and my doctors do have reason to suspect something else, and I was symptomatic last week. Thanks for any input!

She's the cutest thing, and way out of my league. I've never had such an opportunity. Has anyone else had this issue or similar? Of course, my gf is now super jealous because she sees the attention I get when we go out. I added a picture just to show the difference it's made this far. Sent from my D6708 us…

  36. Okay BPers, please be gentle... but I'm really having a hard time with a very (likely) dumb question. First off, I'm 6 months out from RNY and have lost an amazing nearly 80lbs, which is seriously mind blowing, and I'm in absolute heaven every day! But now that it's becoming easier to eat and there's not the same kind of restriction as there was in the earlier months, I'm really challenged by the 1/2 cup of food thing.... I can't eyeball it, I don't know whether that means 1/2 cup once chewed and in the pouch or 1/2 cup of whatever as it is (chicken vs spinach, for example, is dramatically different in volume when put into a 1/2 cup). My NUT told me to stay under 1000 d…

Hello awesome people. Since I began this journey in January of this year, it's been an absolutely wild ride. I've had some huge changes both with my body and my life, and triumphs I never thought I would see. Through all of my hard work, i have pretty much point blank refused to tell most people in my life, let alone "go public" with it. I spend a lot of time with social media and I've seen firsthand how ignorant, judgmental, and downright cruel people can be about wls and the people who get it or want to get it. I'm sure many of you have witnessed this as well... "weight loss surgery is the easy way out", "people who get weight loss surgery are lazy and undeserving of…

I've heard there's a % of people that experience this after a bypass. Is this from refined sugar, or does this occur with natural sugar aswell? I presume it differs from person to person. Well, i have perfected a go to recipe that will be seeing me through the first stages of my bypass (I previously lost with the band and got big into Crossfit, so Protein Shakes have been a regular occurance in my life). Anyway, here is what I wrote - Holland and Barratt do a standard chocolate milk and egg protein that is the best one I've found (I'm in the uk, but I'm sure there must be a standard equivalent).
