I had my surgery on August 17th. I weighed myself both yesterday and today and each time I had gained a lb. I'm not sure how as I'm barely eating 500 calories per day. I know we plateau...but to do that 5 weeks out?!? I'm stressing about this big time! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, I am scheduled to have RNY this Friday in Tiajuana. I am so excited. I am a little worried but overall so excited. My sugars are absolutely horrible. Even on the Clear liquids my fasting is 250. I am so hopeful to see totally different numbers after the surgery. To finally, regain energy, feel my age, to not pee every 15 mintues!!! I have put down a goal weight but I don't really have one. I have a goal of a 4.9 A1C and fasting numbers under 100. Tomorrow I pack and head to Orlando for my 6am flight on Thursday. I welcome all post op tips and packing things to not be forgotten. Thanks in advance! Heather

So I had RNY on Tuesday and I have to say I feel way better than I thought I would with the exception of my one bigger incision that my surgeon said was where the stapler went in. It's painful when I move too quickly and it's still leaking a little bit of blood every now and then. I've been trying to sleep on my back to avoid aggravating it but I always end up on my side so I'm probably not helping it. I know I'm not supposed to put neosporin or anything like that on it but any ideas to help it heal a little faster? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. I'm wondering how people maintain their loss long term. Are you able to eat everything you did before but now in moderation thanks to the bypass, or have you completely changed your diet by cutting out things like simple carbs etc? Some combination of the two? Also, I know sweets can be a problem after bypass, but what about spicy foods?

hi all! If you had no restriction, how long would you have taken off from work? Full pay for the whole time... How long would you have said is the best amount of time off. I have up to 12 weeks fully paid time off for medical leave. I want to take what is optimal, and would love your opinion. Of course, I will do what my doctor recommends, but I want to see what you all thought. THANKS!

So today was day two of softer solid foods. I had another part of the chicken breast i had for dinner last night, but this time my pouch wouldn't tolerate it and three trips to the bathroom later I threw up. I ate really slowly and chewed it up really well, but 10 mins after eating I had pain and it felt like something was stuck in my throat. Did I eat too much or maybe it wasn't soft enough anymore? I'm trying to figure out how to not repeat it since it happened at work.

  23. Hi everyone, As a few of you know I'm recovering from an abdominoplasty and breast correction with implants. I'm 21 days post op and am healing greatly. One of the things I've noticed is my increase in appetite. While I've been told this is normal, my psychologist told me it may be physiological (mental) hunger. I do struggle with mental hunger, and have had some instances of it recently; but I can't say that my extra hunger is all mental. On top of my hunger I just feel so out of routine and find myself going for carbs and grazing. I guess I can say I'm lacking The usual structure of my diet regimen. Last week I weighed 146.4 pounds, this week I'm at about 150. I fe…

Ok, so I understand our bodies do not absorb Iron after RNY bypass, but are infusions the only option if you become anemic?? And how is an ibfusion done? Is it like an IV?? So what the long term effect of low iron, which is basically not enough red blood cells? Anyone hear of severe complications years out? Hello all. I'm hoping that I can get some advice or at least confirmation that I'm not the only one having this issue. I had my RNY 7/21/16, so I'm about 8 weeks out. Im back on normal foods, theoretically, but the issue I've been having the last couple of weeks is that pretty much everything I eat makes me nauseous. I've tried everything. Grilled chicken, ground beef, chili, turkey, cheese, tuna, Beans. Nothing seems to sit well, and I'm at a point where I don't even want to eat because it's not worth being nauseous for the next hour. Even thinking about food just makes my stomach (or what's left of it) turn. The only things I seem to be able to tolerate are my Protein s…

Fast forward to this past week or so I've been feeling nauseous all the time, every time I eat I feel pain/sick afterwards. I have moderate pain on my right side (near my upper back) that comes and goes a few times a day, vomiting whenever I do eat, pain in my upper abdomen a few times a day, and my stool turned to this very pale almost white color (not to be gross lol) I'm at a loss as to what's going on with me...or is it normal? /: ❤️8/17/16

However with the lack of appetite from the surgery and the constant nausea...I'm having a hard time getting in food and drink. How long does this last? I went and bought a bag of Sonic ice because it's like hospital ice. Eating ice doesn't make me as sick as drinking...and at least I'm getting fluids in.
