So today is as we all know is Thanksgiving. As it's just my husband and I, I offered to cook dinner. I did fantastic until I had to make the potato salad. Did a small tasting of it and now I feel like I'm dieing. I had the RNY on 10/24 and was doing fantastic until this week. Now I cant hold anything down other than Water, Protein shakes and my gummy Vitamins. I'm afraid to even try anything else as I just keep getting sick. My Dr said if this keeps up im going to have to go to the ER. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions. I don't want to end up back in the hospital. I was even suppose to return to work this week and because of this I had to extend…

i am two months out from RNY. i started my two week diet september 8th at 247 i went into surgery at 240 today i weigh 210 i'm so scared i'm going to not loose any more weight (as clearly i can eat more now) i'm also scared of stretching my stomach, how easy is it? could it be stretched already?(i'm guessing it's just not as swollen so i can eat more) these are just some fears i've had for a couple of days Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am looking specifically for a group of people to chat with who are at a minimum 1 year or more out from gastric bypass or band to bypass. Seems we have a ton of newbies (which is awesome), but looking to hear from those out further in their journey. Currently in a major stall, working on focusing food intake as the key source of my stall. Pretty demotivated but no major weight gain. Been on this weight loss journey for so many years (2007 lap/2015 rev to GB). Is there anyone out there like me?

  12. Let's be grumpy and miserable together! I'm 1 week past surgery and my surgeon doesn't allow any sort of foods until week 5. I'm still on the clear-liquids-and-diluted-protein-drinks train. I may or may not have been trying to figure out if gravy is a clear liquid...

I read and watched so many horror stories of the pain people are in after surgery and the problems that people have. I'm so thankful and feel so blessed I had my surgery at 8 am this morning I was so afraid of the pain I was in store for. But I feel amazing!!!! Very little pain very little gas. I have taken now a total of 7 walks. The first one right off the stretcher comming to my room from recovery lol they said you ready to scoot into the bed I said no I'm ready to walk lol. The dr said my liver was great and he could tell I did well with the pre op diet. I said and the worst part was I didn't realize till the seventh day that I was allowed to have creamed Soups lol …

I've been doing great since my RNY 6 months ago. Last night, however, I woke up at 3a.m. with reflux. I got sick and vomited the soup I had eaten appx 8 hours earlier. This is the first time this has happened. Today, I was still burping and felt like I couldn't eat or drink. I finally had some chicken broth and seem to be okay, but my stomach just doesn't feel right. Hoping I don't get sick again tonight. Not sure why I got sick last night. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to keep it from happening again. Not pleasant! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

My RNY is this coming Monday. I'm a bit concerned about the pain meds they're going to give me in the hospital.. I get migraines, and I'm not sure what pain meds may or may not be a migraine trigger for me. I didn't think about it until I saw someone say the other day that she got a migraine from the dilaudid. If I were to request something like Toradol instead of a narcotic, is that just laughable, as far as being nowhere near strong enough to cover any pain?

I developed type 2 diabetes as I grew older and heavier. I was on 2 types of blood sugar medicine prior to my surgery and even those were not controlling my diabetes effectively. Then 3 years ago I had RNY gastric bypass surgery. When I left the hospital two days after surgery, I was off my diabetes medicines and haven't taken any since. I periodically check my blood sugar levels and they are fine. In today's world many young folks are gaining weight earlier and becoming diabetic. So the question is "Would Weight Loss Surgery benefit younger folks with this condition?" The issue was studied by Dr. Lwin Aung and colleagues from Singapore and Taiwan, and their repo…

I get in plenty of fluids, and every food I eat is a Protein. I do have a hard time keeping down shakes but my dietician didn't seem really concerned. Hey friends, I had the lap band for 5 years. food would always get stuck, and then come up. I got to a point where I couldn't keep anything down due to slippage so I had the band out after being hospitalized for dehydration. Fast forward 18 months and even though I worked hard to keep it off (diet, counseling, meds for BED), I put on enough weight to be eligible for another surgery. I had the bypass (my second WLS) done on Oct. 28. I have had 2 instances since my RNY where I thought I was eating the right amount and I thought I was not going too fast (eggs and tilapia respectively, both on my approved list), but I got the stuck feeling again and had to vomit it ba…

Had my 6 month post op rny appointment this week. I'll start by saying my pre surgery weight was 286. At my 6 month appointment I weighed 199. My surgeon never had me set a goal weight and I didn't really give it a lot of thought I just intended to get to a healthier weight and reduce my high bp. My doctor at my recent apt said that when I hit 180 I should make my calories in match my calories out and maintain weight. I was confused and said so I shouldn't lose anymore than 19 more pounds...and she said yes that would be a comfortable weight for me and I wouldn't have to struggle to maintain that. Now my problem with that is I still have over 6 months of active weight lo…

Hello there!! I had my surgery October 17th and I have my first month post op visit. I told my surgeon I am very depressed and I have insomnia. I didn't have this prior to surgery and I am also hungry. He told me 95% of patients have the hunger hormone gone and I am part of the 5%. Does anyone know if the surgeon messed something up? I wish I wasn't hungry all the time and that's probably why I am so depressed and don't want to get out of bed. I am down 21 lbs. I was 217lbs surgery date and I am now 196lbs Any thoughts? I came home on Friday morning after surgery on Wednesday and have no major complaints, so I know I am fortunate. One question however (I searched the boards and did not see an answer) -- can you have too MUCH Protein immediately post-op? My husband made me sugar - free Jello with unflavored Protein powder in it, he also made me chicken broth and we are putting unflavored protein in that, I bad a Brariatric Advantage shake with Fairlife Milk (super high protein), and it all came out to about 140 grahams of protein. I also got about 64 additional ounces of Fluid in. Total calorie count (which I know is unimportant) was under 400, so I know I am not over eating -- but wi…

Say I lost 20lbs in four weeks by dropping carbs replacing meals, and bmi was down to 36 or 37.. or if it went to 35 would they still operate? I know I wouldn't sustain that without the op and would yo-yo back. I intend to use the 6-18 month period of 'can't eat' to change mindset to who would want to eat, wh…
