My surgery was 12/29/15 and I have lost 101.8 pounds.

From 243 to 241 pounds.

I take my Vitamins religiously and follow a fairly healthy eating plan but I have noticed the last couple of months I'm constantly freezing. Mainly when I'm inside, but I live in South Texas where temperatures are normally in the 80s and 90s. How did those who have lost large amounts of weight deal with this? Or did you even have this issue?

I am a little lost. Did you mean that you dropped from 343 to 241 pounds. Anyways congratulations on your weight loss.

It is very common for individuals that have weight loss surgery to feel the cold. This is because fat is a very good insulator and when you lose it, you can feel the cold much more.

Before surgery, I would sweat even when it was very warm outside. When the temperature dropped to freezing, I normally drove with the windows down. After surgery this all changed. I am really happy about the person who invented chemical hand warmers. In the cold winter when I go outside to shovel the snow, they seem to be the only thing that prevents my fingers from freezing up.

I wore silk long underwear and camisoles under my clothes. I wore sock liners and glove liners. When using the PC, I wore gloves with the fingertips cut off. I kept an electric blanket on the bed and had an electric throw for the couch.

I went to the Jewish Community Center and sat in the steam bath. I took long hot baths. I drank hot tea and warmed my Protein drinks

By the third year, I adjusted and no longer get cold in summer.

I haven't lost as much as you but I too am always freezing. I'm generally a warm person but not anymore. I guess that's pretty normal.

I find this to be the number one challenge I face day-to-day with this surgery. I've gone from 333 to 156, and I am freezing all the time!

As it is getting cold here in Michigan it's getting worse and I am learning to adapt.

I bought a nice heating blanket for my bed.

I have a space heater under my desk at work.

I have found these Heat Holder socks that are awesome.

I bought a new, thick down winter jacket

I have bought heavy (some lined) flannels.

I bought new, thick slipper

I wear thermal underwear/shirts when I am going to be outside for an extended amount of time and the temperature is going to be below about 55.

As you can see, I'm not messing around! I got to a point where I was sick of being miserable all the time, so I just started doing whatever I could to be comfortable!!

I used to be hot and sweaty all the time and since surgery and the loss of 152lbs, I am freezing all the time.

Seriously, even in the summer I am wearing long sleeves and covered with a light blanket in the house. If it gets bad enough, I even use a heating pad.

You learn to wear layers. For me, I would much rather be thin and cold then fat and hot. LOL.....I hated being a sweaty person that could not get cool enough.

I had my surgery in the middle of our winter and have never been so cold in my life. Fortunately we are heading into summer now so I can manage with just a few layers instead of many heavy ones.

I share a house with other overweight people so there is a constant fight over what temp the heating sits on. Eventually I gave up and bought myself a couple of heaters that sit just beside my chair so I can be warm while they are fanning themselves.

Well, that's good to know, I'm getting ready to come up to Pennsylvania and Michigan this December to see some friends and I've already started packing my "winter" wardrobe. Lots of thermals lots of warm fuzzies I just have to find an actual winter coat. Down here our idea of a winter coat is just a light jacket LOL but of course me I am over there in four freaking coat ha ha Ha

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
