Will I ever NOT feel sick? Will I ever NOT be in pain?

I had RNY on 11/29/16. Instead of just bypassing my stomach the doctor REMOVED the bypassed portion because I had (have) gastroparisis. So, I had to be cut from between my breasts to my bellybutton. I went home 3 days post surgery but got pneumonia and was back in the hospital for another 3 days (days 7 -10).

Before the pneumonia I was getting in most of my Protein and I was able to drink the Protein drinks and other liquids and take my Vitamins...after the pneumonia, I couldn't even drink water! I can still barely drink or eat. I am in a constant state of dehydration.

At week 3 I had no other choice but to resort to soft/solid foods because the liquids and pureed foods caused instant diarrhea and vomiting. I was literally starving to death. I was so weak I couldn't hold my head up...i went to see my surgeon and he was no help. He had no suggestions and didn't even bother to respond to the fact that I had started eating solids way too early.

So, now I eat MAYBE a tablespoon on food every 2-4 hours and I sip on Water as I can...but am lucky to get in 16-24 ounces a day. Everything makes me so sick!!! I probably don't get in more than 400 calories a day. I take zofran every 4 hours and still get severe dry heaves all the time for no apparent reason.

On top of all this, I still can't lay down in my own bed!!! I have to sleep at my parent's house in my dad's lift chair. I can't lay flat on my back because I can't breathe (sleep apnea). I can't lay on my side because it hurts in my stomach too bad and it hurts in my chest. It feels like my heart and lungs are being squeezed in a vice!

When I stand up it feels like all my organs drop and slide around and pull. It hurts and I have to move so slowly. It feels so gross, I can FEEL that there is this big space where someth8ng is missing or at least just not right at all.

I am completely miserable!!! This has been way worse than my open heart surgery and I didn't think that could be possible! I wish I wouldn't have done this and that is so sad because I fought to have this surgery for 13 years!!! I really believed it would be the magic answer to all my MANY other health problems. I thought everything would get better if I had this surgery but instead everything is much worse...PLEASE tell me that this will get better soon...please tell me I will feel "normal"...i'm not asking when I will be able to eat "normal", I know what/how I need to eat for the rest of my life and I am fine with it...but when will I ever be able to eat/drink and not feel miserably sick from the very first bite or sip? When will I be able to lay down and sleep in my own bed? When will I be able to walk more than just a few feet without having to sit down because I am just too weak???

I am down at least 40 pounds and that's great...but I would rather not be so sick and miserable...

I'm praying for healing.

Loving Me

It is very normal to feel like you do after surgery especially with our complications. It will get better. It may take a little longer than some of us did because of what your going through. Each week it will get easier.
