Liquid diets post roux-en-Y?

I was curious as to whether or not it's possible to stay on a liquid diet post roux-en-Y? Has anyone tried it or know of someone that has? I met with a nurse a few days ago and posed this question to her. Her response was that it wasn't recommended, but when I asked why, she was unable to give me an answer. There are various liquid diet options out there - like Unjury - that offer a wide variety of products that aid in providing a proper balance of vitamins and minerals, so why couldn't one use these products in order to aid in weight reduction?

Patients have to do liquid at first due to healing but a week or so after surgery, my nurses told me the body needs to learn to digest real food.
