Brain hasn’t caught up with body

Wow people need to chill! Sorry I said very thin. Not going on this site again.
  2. Try to normalize your eating and practice the rules...3 meals 2 snacks protein at every meal. If you can't just have once piece of cake then don't have any. I sorta wish I had stayed off sugar for the first year or even longer. Once you start having it regularly it's easy to start grazing all day and slowing down your weight loss.

Brain hasn’t caught up with body

I'm not sure when your mind adjusts it happens slowly and then one day normally after 2 years you'll look at an older picture of yourself and think that doesn't even look like me. But there is a part of you that will always remember being the ignored fat girl but that's good it gives us a depth to our character. You must be very thin at 130 just make sure you're taking your vitamins and have enough protein to help you heal and not get a deficiency.

    Chinese food and death.

Yes I can't eat Chinese food! Too much MSG...I can eat it but very little cause I get full quickly. Not worth the money.

Almost a year out and scared...

I try and limit my sugar but more for health then weight loss. I still have a treat 1 or 2 a week. I'm 2 and 1/2 years post op it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I eat clean most of the time but I think it's good to try and learn balance and not go to extremes with dieting.
  6. Yeah it's a bit soon after surgery to be biking!! Start with walking. You just had major surgery 12 weeks before exercise other then walking....start slowly. It took me about 8 weeks to get up to an hour walk. A walk to that I did easily pre-surgery. But your body is healing and you're still have affects of the anesthesia.

    Protein After Surgery

Protein is super important after surgery to help with healing and keeping your metabolism active - 60 grams a day
  8. I was the same way I wasn't able to eat sufficient protein till over 1 year...stuck to protein shakes. I can eat everything now but I fill up quickly on protein.
  9. I eat what I want - 3 meals 1 or 2 snacks and try and stick to clean eating. I don't count calories or record my eating.

    Fullness Hormone

Had RNY hunger started back around 9 months post op. But at over 2 years post op I can eat very little my pouch fills up quickly.

    So. Much. Water!

I was never able to drink the water either until 1 year post op. But I kept up with protein shakes on ice.

    Low Carb

No I've never counts carbs post op.

    My spouse is obese too

It's not the gerd that stopped the surgery it is the smoking. When you smoke it slows down healing. Keep on your journey to a healthier you and hopefully your partner will quit smoking and be able to qualify in 6 months. Don't sacrifice your health for anyone. Life is a gift and you need to embrace it.

Almost a year out and scared...

Yeah you're at the phase now where you need to develop a healthy lifestyle. Your body can tolerate most foods. You can keep the weight off just keep making healthy choices with the occasional treat. You've got this!

    Am I Eating Too Much?

I think your eating is very healthy. You're a young man your metabolism is going to be quick. It looks good! Congratulations on your success!
  16. Snacking can stall weight loss. Go back to basics 3 meals protein first and keep on exercising. You deserve to reach your goals! Believe in yourself and keep going. The pouch isn't broken but if u graze on carbs and junk food it will stop working as your calories add up.

    Weight loss after 1 year

Surgeons say that cause u won't be losing weight anymore due to the surgery the next weight will come off from dieting and exercise. Remember to be gentle with your body it has been through a lot and it needs healthy food and lotsa water and it eventually Will let go of excess weight. It's a journey and sometimes the last few pounds don't come off as quickly as we want them but if you make a healthy lifestyle with a couple of cheat meals and good daily exercise - nothing crazy your body does change. Try not to be hung up on a weight just live healthy and see where u end up. You might end up weighing more but being a smaller size cause of muscle. Remember to take your vitamins and protein shakes .

    My story... bare with me!

I was on an IV with pain medication right after surgery when I went home I didn't need pain medication. But if u do it has to be Tylenol. As for b12 it was 1000 mcg every other day not daily. Jamieson makes a dissolvable tab that goes on your tongue.

    Hernia, insurance waiver?

Not sure how that works but I had gerd pre op and I had a hernia operated on the same time my RNY. I had no idea I had a hernia it was discovered during surgery.
  20. I came home the same weight I was pre-op and then started losing weight at about 10 pounds a month at the beginning more came off.
  21. Follow the pre-op diet which is normally optifast and then your liver will shrink and the surgeon can operate. Your liver needs to be free of carbs and foods that inflame it so it's nice and small for surgery.

    Two days post op

Think of preventing hair loss as incentive to get at least 60 grams of protein a day. I could never eat that much the 1st year so had to have 2 premier protein shakes. Hair loss will happen but keeping protein levels up reduces the amount and makes it so minimal that no one will notice.

    Two days post op

The pain sounds like gas which walking and gas-x tablets help to curb. You need to be having the protein shakes and vitamins. Also I'm always annoyed that people are sent home so soon after surgery. I vomited intensely my 2nd day post op and the surgeon put me on an IV with strong anti nausea drugs. I was only released once they were sure I could keep liquids down. I went home on day 4 and things were good no major issues.

RNY Gastric Bypass: ONE YEAR POST-OP

I didn't have constipation until about 2 years post op. Prior to that I'd eat something sweet and then would get things moving. Now I have it often I need to drink a lot of water to keep everything moving and sometimes use milk of magnesia but I can go days not going. I find 8 glasses of water a day really helps. I couldn't drink that much water initially it took me about 1 year to be able to drink a cup or water. And yes I'm continuing to lose weight as long as I eat clean and exercise. I can also gain weight too.

    Weight loss after 1 year

I'm over 2 years post op and I can still lose weight if i watch what I'm eating. I can also gain weight too so I watch my weight and if i gain I eat clean and the weight comes off. So having said that if you want to lose more eat clean and exercise.
