Hello, everyone! Had my revision and hiatal hernia repair on 07/08. I'm down 28 pounds. My first roux en y was in May of 2009 I was 642 pounds then, and at the time of my revision , I was 230. Maybe it's because this is my second time around, but I feel it's so much easier, and there is so much more information about it online. Any one else feel the same, or am I delusional? Lol

My 7th revision surgiversary recently passed and I wanted to provide a small update. Everything is still humming along nice and calm. Weight is stable, habits are set and I am not complaining. I am grateful that life is uneventful and feels completely normal. I haven’t taken many photos these days but here’s a few including my birthday cake. Cheers to another year!

Hi everyone. I had open incision RNY back in 2004 due to size..400lbs. I lost almost 200 lbs.but through the years gained a good amount back. Also five years sober now. Point is..Ive been researching the facilities in Tijauna where the doctors are double certified in US as well as Mexico. So I am just wondering if anyone has: 1. Gone there and where to get the surgery 2. Specifically a revision on an full RNY procedure (not lapro) 3. How its been. Hello all, I had a lap band installed in 2008 at my high weight of 433, and lost 250 pounds in 2.5 years. At the time I was a big fan of the lap band, and my story was considered a lap band success story. But like almost everyone I know who was banded, eventually it started causing severe acid reflux, even with a fully empty band. I had the band removed in 2019, and eventually my weight was up to 330 lbs. I took GLP-1's for a few years and lost almost 90 pounds, but my weight loss stalled out at around 245, where I am now. I'm sorry if this is a bit all over the place. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed. I had a sleeve done in 2015 along with a hiatal hernia repair. I initially lost over 100lbs (from 340 down to 211) but I was never able to lose beyond that. Over time, I've gained a lot of the weight back and am currently around 290. The bigger issue is GERD. It has become more severe over the past 7 years- so bad, that I've developed an ulcer in my esophagus. It affects my daily life constantly. My surgeon's office is recommending a revision surgery to help address the GERD, repair the hiatal hernia that is now back because of weight gain, and hopefully help me lose weight again…

I’m just over 2 years out of surgery and I started at 455# and now I’m stuck at 270# but my goal weight is is 230-240# my pre military weight over 36 years ago , is this a normal stall in weight loss or just a unrealistic goal of mine . I am 58 years old also

My new job has coverage so I'm waiting to hear back on the hoops I will need to jump through to get my sleeve revised to the bypass due to heartburn, I also have a hiatal hernia to be fixed and my surgeon also noted a 'kink' in my esophagus on the fluoroscopy he did--not super severe but does make drinking fluids harder--I utilize carbonated beverages for fluids-like carbonated water because they go down so much easier--to also note my sleeve at almost 5 years out (when I had the fluoroscopy done) showed no notable stretching in case anyone is wondering). I had gastric bypass in 2006 (RNY) and I have an appointment next week to see a sergeon about doing a revision. It took me 20 years to regain all my weight back but here I am. I want to have the duodenal switch this time. Has anyone ever had that combination revision done before?

I have had the lap band for 17 years with great success. I lost 100% of my excess weight within the first year and I have kept it off. 246 to 123 at 5'4". The Lap Band is absolutely not for everyone and it hasn't been easy but having been overweight from a toddler to my 30's when I had the surgery, I would still choose the discomfort and restriction. I understand not everyone would feel that way. But recently I started feeling discomfort below the band and having digestive pain, gas, constipation and diarrhea. Hi Everyone, I'm set to be re-sleeved in Turkey in 14 days. I will try to post as much as possible. I've always had a low bmi. My first sleeve was 2018 but I really didn't feel the fullness others have talked about, and 6 months later I was pregnant which stalled me and I regained the weight back after a miscarriage. This time I am determined not to repeat past mistakes. I will be self pay and my re-sleeve is scheduled for May 8. If anyone is in my situation let me know.

I had my sleeve done in April of 2012. Had decent success until 2018 when I gained ALL of the weight back. I am now 2 weeks away from getting a re-sleeve. It is with a differnt surgeon this time due to the fact my original surgeon won't do it. I am very nervous. I worry about the actual surgery. I had a revision from sleeve to bypass in August of 2024 and since then I've lost over 60 pounds, and I'm still losing, but it is costing me so much money in clothing! I bought a pair of size 16 jeans in late September, by last week (mid-October) I was down to a 14 and the 16s wouldn't stay! There are worse complaints/issues to have, and I know I'm lucky in that the revision is continuing to help me shed weight, but this is getting to be crazy expensive for me - I am beyond broke (super in debt) so any money I have goes to bills or food or housing, even the $25 I spent on those size 14s was a lot for me! I was sleeved in 2016. Lost weight, but no where near goal. Gained it all back. I just had a revision to a bypass this week (Jan 13). Things are going fine, almost too fine. Minimal discomfort, I have no problem keeping fluids or protein down. I am eating about 600 calories per day with 80 grams of protein. I’m not hungry. (I am on a 3 week liquid diet post op at the moment.) I also haven’t lost any weight. Does this sound normal?

I a vertical gastric sleeve in 2006. I weighed about 400 at the time and got down to 250, then plateaud at 285 for 10 years. I was happy with that. In the last 10 years, I've gained it all back and am at 400 lbs again. I am close to my pre-op visit to discuss the revision. The weight loss nurse I am working with said this time, my weight loss might not be as significant. I said I was shooting for 300 lbs, and she said that was doable. I'd be happy with that. What I want to know is what type of revisions you've had, and how your experience is different after a revision than with your first surgery. Hello, I’m new here and hoping to get some insight. On September 02 2025 I had my psych evaluation. She asked me my goal weight (220) then said I need to go over it with my doctor because sleeve to bypass revisions don’t have big weight loss. Right now I’m 5’6 and weight 276. My psychologist floored me and I’ve been numb ever since. I never heard of this before. Now I wonder why my surgeon or PA (physician assistant) didn’t tell me. Can someone please let me know if they were told the same or beat the statistics?

I'm in the early stages of going in for a revision to a gastric bypass.... I had the sleeve in 2017, and developed acid reflux from that surgery. The acid reflux/heartburn only developed and worsened, despite being on twice daily Protonix. Eventually, this year, I got an upper GI where they found I had severe acid reflux (which I could knew. lol), then also had a EGD scope and found a hiatal hernia. I'm working with my original surgeon of the sleeve, and he is telling me there are 2 options; to insert the LINX, or convert to a bypass, since that should remove the acid in the stomach. Hello out there! I had the sleeve done 6 years ago. It was successful but I have a hiatal hernia and was recently told that the best way to fix it, that makes it actually go away, is to convert the gastric bypass. Wish I had known the sleeve was not the best procedure for someone with an existing HH. Has anyone experienced this and how was your outcome?

I have a huge question regarding hernia and scarring from sleeve. I had the sleeve in 2019. I had little to no issue, but I do have severe Gerd/reflux. I get a endoscopy every two years to watch my Barretts Esophagus. the last endo said I had a hiatal hernia, went to a surgeon who says he needed to do a bypass because there is a kink in the stomach. I am scheduled for sleeve to SADI revision in 12 days and as I go over the book with the stages returned to eating I got a little concerned that it is gonna be extra hard for me since they are only operating on the bowel and not the stomach. Since I already had the sleeve part and my stomach is healed and hunger has returned, I will be expected to live on 2-4 tbsp meals while never feeling full and maintaining full hunger. I am now 6 yrs post revision (also my birthday a few days ago). I can’t believe it has been that long! It doesn’t really feel like it but then again I still think 2020 was just 2 years ago, lol. So far no issues, current labs are decent and weight continues to be stable at ~150 lbs. The only noteworthy development is my new found, all consuming passion for gardening.

My RNY was in 2001 surgery weight 465, bottom weight 290. I have slowly regained almost half of that amount back over the past 23 years. I never really felt that the pouch or the anastomosis were made small enough. I was one of the very first RNY patients in our area and the technique was in its infancy at that time.

I was sleeved in March of 2015 (HW 405, SW 357, LW 238, sustained 260 for a few years), had some regain where I hit 315, so I went on a hybrid Optifast/Numetra diet through a program at Kaiser (my then insurance in California). So as I mentioned in my last thread, I had VSG in 2014. I did quite well for a decent amount of time but after really losing focus of my diet and lifestyle I have had significant regain. I have literally had GERD my entire life. When my surgeon initially told me that VSG WAS an option, I decided to go ahead with it thinking it was a much 'safer' option than RNY. He did reassure me that the GERD I had was directly related to my significant abdominal weight and that with weight loss it would subside. I'm hoping to get a revision to a bypass for gerd and sleep apnea if that is a possible. I called tricare and the lady said that they only cover 1 weight loss surgery in the lifetime or the person. Any experience with getting approved with tricare select?

I recently had pancreatitis from gallstones and will have to have Galbladder removed. Doc will also prob remove lap band at that time. I'm on the fence about also having sleeve revision (if covered). Terrified to lose lap band and be off shots (possibly forever) and have massive retain but also don't love the idea of having half my stomach removed FOREVER! I had my sleeve surgery in LasVegas at Blossom and now I want to get SIPS. I would like to know where others had theirs done. I live in Arizona and would like to have it done closer.

I don’t have a date yet but I think I have pretty well settled on the SADI surgery for my revision. I meet with him the end of next month to ask my final questions and then I guess it’s a waiting game. I am hesitant to post on the regular pre op boards and say I’m pending revision because I gained it all back. I feel like I may discourage someone from trying.

Hi, I'm after some advice. I was sleeved in 2015, lost 55kgs and kept that off for many years. I have re-gained almost 20kgs in the last 1.5 years. I met with my surgeon and he'd recommending a re-sleeve, but I wonder if I should go for a SADI by-pass. He said he can do either BUT not together (as my BMI is too low)- so either re-sleeve or the conversation part of SADI only. Any feedback?

Hey all! I had the sleeve in 2017 and never got to my goal weight and I had GERD. So fast forward to 2024 and had my sasi. All is well except now I can’t keep any food down. I’m having diarrhea several times a day for the past month. Any one else had issues like this? Oh and then I found out I have fatty liver. ???‍♀️?‍? scared! Smh

Hello, in 2020 I had a sleeve did well lost 100lb. In 22 I got sick and ended up with prednisone shots which made me gain weight. 50/100 that I had lost was back but any how now I’m scheduled for the sedi on 10/24 . Just wanted to get everyone’s intake in there experience

Hi, I just had a four year surgiversary yesterday. In the first two years I made it down to 185-187 from 252. I did the calculations, and that was only about 25%-26% of my body weight lost. Doing the research, I've found that anything less than a 50% weight loss in the first two is generally considered failure. I maintained around 185-190 for over a year, and then gained 20 pounds seemingly overnight without changing much--we all have our lapses, but this was not enough to explain a 20-pound weight gain. I had a bypass over 15 years ago and at first it was successful over 10 stone loss and I felt amazing. My mobility has decreased dramatically nd I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I've gained all my weight back and more. My pouch im sure is huge, I get terrible reflux and I'm thinking a revision. Has anyone successfully had a NHS revision? What was criteria? What did the op entail? Also, anyone gone private for this in uk? What was the cost? I had gastric bypass in July of 2019. Highest weight was 400 before losing a bit on my own. Current weight varies from 167 to 173. I still feel some restriction to this day. My meals are usually small although I know we can all 'eat around' the restriction by eating smaller, but continuous meals and this was a slippery slope I fought back against. Welp! I’m 4 days post op. I had a revision from lapband to RNY and it was much more than anticipated! My surgeon told me I needed to have my gallbladder out at the same time (I had gallstones) so I was prepared for that but once he got in there he found A LOT of scar tissue from the lapband (mind you, it’s been 20yrs since I got it) and then a hernia!!!! So I was in surgery for 4 hours! I feel as good as expected I guess but wanted to give everyone a heads up… just be prepared for the unexpected! ❤️

Hi, I don't even know where to start. I'm short (5'1") and my highest weight was around 210. I was 180 at the time of my surgery back in January 2013. I did great with my sleeve and my lowest weight was 117 -- too thin honestly. I stayed between 135-150 for many years. In early 2020 (Covid), 7 years after surgery my weight started creeping up. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm 200 lbs now. I've had clothes sized 2 to 18, in the last 11 years which is crazy. I am in my early 50s. I'm pretty sure I've started menopause. Hello, On 8-12-21, I had a revision from a VSG to a SADI ( mini bypass). My doctor did not adjust my sleeve and now I’m several days postop and I am left with the same hunger and food intake capability that I had before the surgery. I’m just curious, if anyone else had the SADI that didn’t include an adjustment to your stomach, and if so what was that Experience like for you? Were you satisfied with your weight loss? I’m starting to get concerned, did I choose the wrong revision or surgeon.
