I dont want to take over Flower's thread. Hope she is doing ok!! I am scheduled for a port revision on Tuesday, which will be 12 days before my wedding/honeymoon cruise!! Has anyone had a revision?? Will I be able to go swimming?? Should I postpone the revision until after the wedding?? Help!!! Patty

Hello All, Well I had my revision on Thursday with Dr Ortiz and his staff. I must say I was totally blown away by he and all his staff. They were exceptional. As long as you know nothing will happen on time you will be extremely happy if you should go with them. The facilities are very clean and everyone was very knowledgable. I am glad I went to him. The surgery itself went very well. Revision surgeries take longer since they have to remove any scar tissue and the old band. But I now have an entirely new band - the LapBand and the port is now in my side instead of on my sternum. I don't have any fill yet and the doctor will not give me a fill for eight wee…

I am going in this monday to get my port revised couldn't get a fill at all had surgery june 9th now have to go under general anesthesia again very frustrated and scared well anyways wish me luck.

Hello All, I'm sorry I've not been too active on the board. It is true that after you've lost all your weight, you suddenly have much less free time. This is a good thing I think. Anyway, my revision surgery is Thursday with Dr Ortiz in TJ Mexico. I leave Wednesday morning at 6am (yikes) for pre-op. I am so glad to be getting it done. This last month I've been surprised at how much I've suffered with "last meal" syndrome. Things like fried pickles (my FAVORITE) I have a difficult time eating once I'm fully restricted, so I totally pigged out this last month. Hello group! I was banded on May 19, 2004 and have lost 125lbs. I am currently at goal and am now thinking about plastics. I will have to self-pay for my plastics because I don't meet the criteria for medical necessity. That means I have lots of options in selecting a surgeon. Here's my question. Is is unwise to have my TT done in a hospital that doesn't have a Bariatric program? I'm concerned about having to have my port moved by a plastic surgeon. (and mine will HAVE to be moved... Help! I've been the posterchild of bad luck. Four surgeries so far- original lapband in August 2001. Revision for broken port- July 2002. Hiatal hernia (with band slippage ? )Dec. 2003. Another port break and revision in Nov. 2004. Just went for my first fill since then and the band is leaking! I seem to have 3 options. Have it all removed and forget about it. Have it removed and try again. Have it removed and convert to full by-pass. Originally I found this to be great and finally knew what "thin" people sense about feeling full. I made it through my revision surgery Friday. The surgery did take longer than the first surgery mainly because of adhesions and scar tissue from the first surgery. I was in surgery 4 hours. He also had to remove the old lap band and install a new one the reason being that my stomach that had prolapsed over top of the band was so swelled up and inflamed from my almost nightly vomiting that it would not pull back down through the band at all, so therefore he had to remove it and replace with a new one. Bless his heart, I know he must have been worn out after my surgery. I am pretty sore, but have been blessed to have not had any nausea at all and very little gas pains. God…

A year ago a Port revision and Pbing would have meant something completely different. Probably, something about Peanut Butter and a new terminal for a cruise ship. For those that don't wanna view this don't scroll down. I am thinking this looks alot like my initial incisions with the allergy to the glue. Which I forgot to mention to Dr. Billy. I just assumed they would stitch me up. Guess they are using the glue technique here as well. Not too much weeping like it did before. It sure does itch though. Which is a good thing since that means it is healing. LOL!!! Anyway, here it is. It looks lots worse than it actually feels.

Hi, I'm new and wanted to share. I had Lap band surgery Nov 8th in Mexico. Went to a Doctor here in the states for my follow up, and fills. I had to have a port revision Dec 30th. The Doctor gave me a fill of 1.5 in a 9.7 lapband during surgery. I knew something was'nt right when I had apple juice in recovery. My husband and I went back to the Bed and Breakfast we were staying. My chest hurt, and the apple juice came up with a lote of bubbles. I felt then that I was closed. I called the Doctor at 4:45 that day. He said I was drinking to fast, to slow down. That 1.5 could not close me up. Hi All - For those of you who are new or don't remember, I tore one of my port sutures at the end of July. I was stretching for something that was just out of reach, and kind-of did a lunge. I immediately felt a sharp sting, and as the next couple of days went by I was in severe pain. Of course, I was on vacation... lol Far, far from my band doc, so I toughed it out with liquid Tylenol. Did you know that stuff was made by saints? lol Anyway, after two weeks the pain was bearable, but I was uncomfortable and I had a big bulge where my port was.
