Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Thinking about skin removal or cosmetic surgery after weight loss? Talk about tummy tucks, arm lifts, breast lifts, thigh lifts, and other post-WLS procedures.

  1. I have been considering breast lift (anchor lift) with augmentation since I lost so much volume. I've done a couple consults and both recommended extending the incision to the side of my breasts along the bra line since I have so much extra skin there. One surgeon asked if I had thought about doing my arms and though I wasn't there for that, I have given it thought in the past. Now it's all I can think about because I will be able to wear sleeveless or short sleeves, I've been very self conscious about my bat wings and always cover my arms. So I'm thinking about doing both but I'm very scared of the recovery time. Back in 2020 I had an abdominoplasty so it's not my first …

  2. Started by FlowerChild6200,

For anyone who has gone thru with an arm lift.. Do you HAVE to also do lipo? My arms have really thinned out and what's hanging is literally just skin. I also heard that if you dont do lipo the recovery is easier, less painful and no drains.. Is any of that true? I'd love to hear anyone's experiences they may have.

  3. Started by FifiLux,

So as the title says.... tomorrow is my arm lift day 😀 I am trying to keep calm and positive by being as organised as possible. I had my pre-surgery appointment last week with the nurse and anesthesiologist and they were horrified when they heard what I went through with my sleeve surgery and both were very reassuring (as was the plastic surgeon when I had my pre-op with him two weeks ago). I still have ongoing complications from the sleeve surgery, still have a drain inserted at my stomach until January and most days have bad abdominal pain (my gymo and GP both think it is adhesions following all the trauma my body went through) but nothing that will impact the arm surg…

  4. It’s been too long time since I have posted anything about my plastics results or clothing fitment. I can’t believe it’s been 5-6 years. I am usually a S/M top and M/L bottom these days. Maybe a 6/8 but sizing varies so much these days that I don’t chase numbers anymore. I am still very happy with my results.

  5. Welp, I turned one year post op VSG this month. I am very proud of my success. Every day was hard, every day continues to be hard, but my gift to myself is a boob job. I will be getting my boobs done , lift and also skin correction to correct that hanging bra fat under the armpit area. I hate that noise. It just flaps around ? but it's a testament to all my hard work. I will be going to Medellin Colombia. My surgery is on June 10. I will arrive on June 7 and I'm looking forward to seeing the sites being on the lighter side I'll be able to walk up those Flights of steps at Guatape ?. Look at all those damn steps on the pic ? *Colombian doctors are very, very skilled v…

  6. Longtime lurker, first time poster. Some background: RNY Sept. 2023, 110 lb. lost and maintained thus far. In March 2025, I had an arm lift and breast lift (no implants) to remove extra skin and tighten things up. I am very pleased with the results overall [my arms are amazing], but I have had a complication that I want to help others be aware of. My surgeon recommended a Galaflex mesh "internal bra", which he said would help keep things "perky" - it is meant to integrate with your tissue over time. The first few weeks after surgery, things were looking good. Then I noticed some small holes in the anchor incisions around my breasts, with some fluid seepage. Over the cours…

  7. Day 4 after arm lifts and reverse mini abdominal, October 17, 2024. A bit sore right now in the elbows and hands, but pain is manageable. I do look forward to Fall leather jackets fitting better without arm bulk and layering issues. This will complete previous plastics + adventures after sleeve in December 2018. Yay!

  8. Started by FifiLux,

Hi all, Has anyone tried the Healfast pre-op and post-op surgery recovery supplements? I have my arm lift surgery in October and, mostly because of all the complications I had with my sleeve surgery, I am trying to make the recovery process for my arms as good as possible. I already take collagen in my coffee daily, hit my protein goals and will add in high dose vitamin C in the week or two prior to my surgery plus I have collagen capsules for post surgery (as I don't think I will be having my coffees for a few days post op). I read a lot about Juven being recommended but can't get that here, even Amazon won't deliver it. Thanks

I am trying to find the name of a popular, older, plastic surgeon from Mexico. I believe his clinic was in Monterrey MX. I had an estimate from him about 4 years ago but now I can't seem to find his information. He had about a year wait list back then. Does anyone have any ideas on what his name was?

One for my UK family ❤️ Recently had a referral made for plastics in the UK via the NHS - now I know the likelihood of this being approved is extremely low - the GP making the referral even said to me it is entirely dependent on what clinician picks it up, as we are at their whim/bias, even telling me a story of how one woman had her loose skin removal referral denied because the clinician stated that because she paid for her RNY privately, then she could afford to pay for plastics...how awful! Either way - has anyone actually had their plastics on the NHS, and if so, what was your experience like? If not - have you paid privately in the UK and if so, where…

I just want to share my excitement, I got my reminder text for my breast augmentation and lift appointment next week! In 3 short weeks I will have new bewbs. Mostly I am excited about having more confidence in myself and my shirts looking like they fit and not baggy off my chest.

Good morning, I have just been approved to have the lose skin removed off my stomach on May 5th. I am really excited and scared at the same time. Looking to see what I should have at home to help with the surgery and recover.. I am looking for the good and the bad..

  14. Started by FifiLux,

Hi all, I have been given an appointment for arm lift surgery the end of October, if all goes well, based on your experiences is this sufficient time (8 weeks) to be mainly recovered by Christmas with full motion etc.? I am due to fly home for Christmas and would want to be able to pull/push/lift suitcases without any issue, shower easily plus then enjoy my Christmas time and not have family and friends worried about me. Given the major problems I had with my sleeve surgery in 2023 I am a bit apprehensive as to how my body will react and recover. Plus I don't know how I am going to tell my family as I know they will have a total freak out considering I sp…

  15. I'm 4 days out from an arm lift, J lift, and breast lift that included replacing and downsizing old implants. Basically, I have sutures from about an inch below my elbow, up my entire upper arm, down through my armpit, and continuing along the curve of my breast with only about an inch or two gap from the other side. Then anchor incisions on the breasts as well. Apparently, one of my old implants was ruptured as well so took a bit longer than planned. I'm doing pretty good - the only challenge is some tingling/loss of sensation in my thumb and index finger on my right hand (dominant). Dr. isn't worried and think as swelling in the arm goes down it will improve. …

  16. Good evening guys! It's been a while since I lost posted on here, and I'm really pleased to say that almost 12 months post-op (celebrating next week on the 28th), I am officially 54kg/118lbs lighter. My dietician and surgeon have given me a goal of between 70-80kgs, I'm currently sitting at 81kg and would like to get to 75kg and maintain for another 6 months or so prior to deciding on plastics, however, that is another story for another day. I've come on here today - a primarily US-based forum - to ask my fellow UK/European bariatric patients about where you've been looking for your plastics. I've been having a look on here, speaking to people I know who've…

  17. Started by Bypass2Freedom,

I know I am probably far off from having any form of skin removal, as I have been advised that my weight needs to be stable for at least 6 months before I can look into that kind of surgery, and where I am almost 10 months post-op, I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon! Regardless, I feel the need to start thinking about it now. I am 29 this year, I have PCOS and was previously told I needed to have a baby before I was 27 otherwise my chances of conceiving were very low. I am not in a position (financially or emotionally) where I want children right now, nor in a relationship where I want to have them either. I may want children in my future, bu…

  18. Started by FifiLux,

So tomorrow I have my first appointment with a cosmetic surgeon. As the health service here covers some plastics following weight loss surgery (have to be in sufficient saggy need) I am going with an open mind and closed wallet ? I would love to get a boob job, preferably a lift but open to implants, and then possibly discuss my legs and arms but I am not sure I want to go through the pain of those. I don't mind the idea of scarring on legs as no way I would be showing them now, dislike them so much everything is ankle length, so even with scarring it would be an improvement as I could at least wear tights and possibly something knee or mid calf length.... oh to…

I am preparing for breast reduction and lift plus abdominoplasty with panniculectomy. I need to buy compression garments for the abdominal surgery. I am lost on what to buy. My physician said to just buy spanx but what type? Also I do have bladder urgency so I need something that will allow access to void. Please help me what has worked and also a link to the product would be wonderful. Plus how many should I purchase for the recovery period? Thank you for any words of wisdom. I am supplied with 2 bras post surgery so that surgery will be fine.

I’m having a lower body lift but just my back side, I already had a TT. I can’t find anything that doesn’t involve both procedures. I’m wondering if anyone has had it done, and how you are supposed to get out of bed, sleep, go to the bathroom, how long before you can sit?

  21. I had a revision to SADI on 8/7/2024. Lost 70 pounds but then I started chemo for breast cancer that I was diagnosed with a day shy of my 3 month surgiversary. I was told not to lose quite as fast by the oncologist and the oncology dietician so I have since only lost ten more in 2.5 months. Anyways, my double mastectomy is tentatively scheduled for 5/8/2024. During that surgery they remove all the breast tissue and put in Empty bladders they call expanders and then they slowly fill them each week with saline in the office to stretch the skin making room for the implant. The cosmetic dr says that I could take my time and try out all the sizes and go up and down and th…

Hopefully. I had an appointment yesterday and he said I’m more swollen than he would like me to be, which being sedentary is so damn hard for me, but I am trying! Anywho I go back to work on Wednesday and I am wondering what you all wore to work? Im not sure if I need to go buy more button ups? Or can I put tshirts on. I have no issues lifting my arms above my head but it’s a no no for a few weeks. I’m in a casual office setting. Usually nice tops and jeans. Also I knowwwww I s…

Hello all I am getting a circumferential belt lipectomy and some liposuction in less than a week, and honestly feeling kind of nervous. I've heard a number of people say the recovery process is much harder than the bypass - I had a roux en y in Oct 2022, and while it wasn't terrible it also wasn't fun. Has anyone else had this procedure? Any tips or tricks or words od reassurance? I know people have recommended getting a lazy boy recliner but it seems insane to get one for just a couple of weeks. I'm hoping I can make do with lots of throw pillows on my sofa, where I imagine I'll also be sleeping - less chance of me rolling over and hurting myself. Als…

So I go see my surgeon at the begininng of January after having to reschedule my 6 month follow up, so this will more of an 8 month followup. A little back story, highest weight was 412 in 2017, lowest since is right now at 298. I had surgery in may and my losing has been slow going but I am dropping inches like no tomorrow. With that being said, while I am dropping band size ( a 56 to a 48 as of 11/29/2024) , my cup size (ddd/f) seems to be remaining the same and the more weight I drop the bigger they feel to me. When I was 14 I was already a a38DD so as you can tell I should have had this done a long time ago. I have already talked to my gyno, who suggested it firs…

  25. tomorrow morning, i am getting my excess tummy skin removed and my boobs reduced and lifted. i had rny gastric bypass in september 2022 and lost more than 200 pounds, highest weight 410, and my weight has been stable at 190. i saved up enough money to get plastic surgery in tijuana, mexico, and my work, school, and holidays lined up to get it done! im getting 360 lower body lift, tummy tuck with fleur de lys, and breast reduction and lift. i also want to get an arm lift and inner thigh lift sometime in the future. im nervous for my surgery tomorrow morning, but i’m confident in my decision to have plastic surgery now, and trust my surgeon and medical team. …

  26. I'm still 36lbs away from my goal weight of 130, and once I get there, I might want to drop the goal to 120. I've just started researching plastic surgeons, joined some FB groups, and it's easy to become obsessed!! I'm obviously going to weight until I hit goal to start setting up any consults, but man I can't wait!! I have 4 Miami surgeons that I'm interested in so far, but then I'll see someone else's photos and want to add their surgeon to my list!

I am so excited I am getting my boobs done in December and my pre-op appt is soon where I get tot he pick the size! I am researching but wanted real life opinions. What did you get? What cc's? What type of implants? High, moderate or low profile? Is the drop and fluff a real thing?

  28. Thinking of getting a tummy tuck at Kaiser but they won’t cover it. They won’t give me a price without a $250 consultation fee and wondering if anyone has had it done there, cost and satisfaction?

  29. I had my first consult last Friday and I liked her and the practice. From the consult to them answering my questions its been a pretty good experience. I tried another surgeon in my area who two women have gotten work done by and the first call seemed off. However the one I like, has beautiful before and after pictures but her Yelp reviews are not great. The surgeon I feel off about (haven't met with him) has great reviews. I am willing to put my deposit down on the one I like now to work toward it but I am nervous after reading the negative reviews. What did you all do?

  30. I am new to this forum, but not new to the experiences. I had gatric band in 2006 and have had huge success (140lb loss and size 26 to 8/10). I am now the smallest weight and size I have ever been since the age of 12! I had a upper arm lift and vertical thigh lift in 2015. Thrilled with the arm lift, not as please with my thighs. I was less than thrilled with the aftercare from my previous surgery, so I will not return to him. I'm 48 yo and I've never had kids and I am ready to have my breasts done (and possibly tummy tuck). I had a consult with a surgeon in my area and didn't really have a connection with her. She determined a breast lift and implant is neede…

  31. My boobies are skin sacs, I did not expect them to look like this- I figured that it would be less volume but oof! Anywho! I would love to do all things; boob job, bbl, tummy tuck, thigh lift, arm lift but in reality I do not want to spend that much money but I want a boob job for sure. I would settle for just that. Do I need to wait the full year to get boobs done?

  32. Looking preferably for someone in the DFW area, but will travel farther if I need to (i.e. Austin or Houston). Looking for surgery on upper arms, a breast lift Unsure if I want anything inserted into my breasts like implants but also not sure if a lift will look good without putting something back into the deflated balloons that are my chest now. My upper arms and chest (and all the loose skin that flows out from under my bra, from the sides of any bra I've tried, etc.) are the things that bother me the most. I've always thought I probably couldn't handle (pain-wise) getting my abdominal area done but obviously there is PLENTY of loose skin there and I wouldn…

  33. Started by Tierra T Tij,

I had my WLS/Rou-y on May 15, 2018, and I now have excess skin near my stomach, thighs, hips, and arms. I'm supposed to be losing more weight toward my surgery to get rid of the excess skin on my stomach because I keep getting rashes, infections, and fungus in the area to the point I have open sores so Medicaid is deeming it medically necessary and deciding to cover it. I'm having a hard time because I hit a weight plateau during the pandemic and gained 13 pounds (I was supposed to lose at least 30) and I'm nowhere near my goal. I don't know what to do with myself and I'm highly disappointed. I do need someone to vent to right now.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's plastic surgery threads, and since I'm 3 weeks out from surgery, I thought I would start my own! I'm going to make up for all of the WLS mistakes I made (not taking "before" photos or measurements), and plan to track my PS progress much better!! So here's where I am to date! I originally planned on having a CTT (circumferential tummy tuck, also known as a lower body lift) along with a BR/BL/BA (breast reduction, lift, and then adding implants back in for fullness). Plans have changed slightly since then, and I've also changed surgeons. The original surgeon I was going to does great work, but the surgery center he works for is very unor…

How do you know how much excess skin you have? Like in lbs. I watch these shows and its like we cut off 25 lbs of skin. How do I get an idea of how much weight my excess skin is so I can decide if I am truly happy here or if I want to lose a little more? I am at the point of plateau. I have been at 157-162 for 10 months now. I would like to end up at the 145 ish range. I just have no idea how to know if I have 15 ish lbs of skin. and I dont want to cut the skin, not be in the 140s, lose another 10 ish lbs and possibly have to go back and have more skin cut off/ have more sag that I am trying to avoid.

I went to see a plastic surgeon about getting an arm lift and I am feeling so conflicted. On the one hand, I am so unhappy about my upper arms and armpits and I never wear anything without sleeves (anything I wear is at least t-shirt length). I feel very self conscious about that area.. It just makes me sad. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am right now and I still can’t wear what I want, and fashion is one of my main hobbies and ways of expressing myself. On the other hand, I am scared. It’s a huge operation, you end up with two big wounds that you need help with for weeks and I am struggling with the idea that it’s elective surgery. I'd really love to hear from other men who have had plastic surgery following weight loss. I am a year and a half out from my bypass now and for the most part am pretty happy with the results. My weight has held pretty steady for the last six months and I've been working with a personal trainer for a few months now and happy with the results, especially in my arms and shoulders. However, as is to be expected there is a lot of loose skin around my middle. I have tried wearing my trousers higher than I used to and for the most part it's okay, but still feeling pretty self conscious about taking my shirt off - especially when I lean forward and the skin drapes off my torso. …

I greatly appreciate any and all feedback/suggestions as I consider a lower body lift and an arm lift. Thanks in advance, I am excited and equally terrified of taking this next step!

  44. I recently got diagnosed with stage 1 type 3 Lipedema 1.5 years after my VSG. The reason that pushed me to explore because I had lost weight all overall but my legs didn’t change much compared to the drastic changes I had in the rest of my body. The pain, heaviness and bruising I had before surgery continued. I had originally thought it was related to my weight. My surgeries are booked with a Specialist Lipedema Surgeon, they will take place later this year (hopefully all goes according to plan). I was wondering if anyone else is going through this too? I would love to hear anything you would like to share.

Hi all, I am 2.5 years from sleeve surgery and despite wanting to lose another 20-25 pounds, my body seems to have settled into it's new set point at appx 170lbs. I have a tremendous amount of loose skin but am most troubled by my arms. I can hide everything else in clothes. I am conflicted on considering an arm lift only with so much loose skin everywhere else. I really can't see how i could consider anything else while still having at least another 20-30pounds to lose (and I am not ready to give up on the dream that I might lose a little bit more over the long term).
