I just got my endoscopy done this morning...While I was in the recovery room my doctor came in to talk to me. Im thankful he didnt find any ulcers, hernias, or any polips but he said that my intestines are flipped around in an abnormal position. He said that this is found in about 1 in every 10,000 patients, and because of this my bypass will most likely be open instead of laprascopic. Im just freaking out a little. Ive never had any surgery so i guess its just the thought of being cut open. Is open alot hard to recover from open than laprascopic??

I hope the best for you and I am sure your surgeon will do the best thing for you. The difference between the two Surgury is that open has a little longer recovery than laparoscopic. Make sure you write a list of questions to ask your surgeon so you are calm and know all that is going on. Best of luck.
