Elevated Liver Enzymes - 1 year 4 months post op
Hi everyone! I am doing some of my own research on this and will also go back to my doctors with the same questions, but wanted to throw it out here as well. I have always had slightly elevated liver enzymes, but the last 4-6 months, they keep elevating every time they do labs. I am now seeing a hepatologist and she is testing liver enzymes every 2 weeks to keep a close eye on them and may end up doing a liver biopsy if this continues. Has anyone else here experienced this over a year after surgery? I don't even know if it has anything to do with surgery as I also have some autoimmune issues going on. Could it have something to do with increased protein intake after surgery? I use a lot of protein shakes and mixes as I do not eat meat and try to make sure I am supplementing my diet with enough protein, but don't use more than has been recommended by my doctor, so I'm not overdosing on proteins. Does using soy or whey protein make a difference? Any input from any of your experience would sure be appreciated.

2 more days
I can understand your feelings.....but as long as you let the staff know your situation, I'm sure they will do all they can to help if you do experience pain by suggesting non narcotic pain relief. Good luck to you as it is so worth it. You go girl! You will do great!

Need some ideas...
Hi all - My surgery was on July 25th and I've been doing great up until the last 2 or so weeks. I started feeling nauseated when eating, drinking and in between meals/snacks and at first I thought I was taking too big of bites or drinking too fast, so I tried to slow it down. It seemed better for just a bit but came back quickly. I then thought I caught a stomach bug of some sort but its been about 2 weeks now and only getting worse. I have also tried taking gas-x and again I thought it worked yesterday but has come back worse today. I feel sick when I eat anything or even drink water and also at night when I am sleeping, so I know I'm not getting enough fluids or protein . I've had an emotional month as well with my moms declining health and passing a few weeks ago, so maybe I just have my stomach all in knots. I don't know what it is, so I need to stop guessing. I have just emailed the Dr to ask for help, but wondered if any of you have experienced this or have any ideas on what this could be.

July Surgery
Hi all....I had my surgery on the 25th of July and am doing really good! I healed nicely and went back to work on light duty after 2 and a half weeks. My surgeon and other docs are happy with my healing and progress so far. It's difficult for me to remember to eat slow and with small bites and to sip not gulp my water/drinks, but I'm working on it! How are the rest of you doing?
