Wondering if anyone's NUT or Dr advises against gummie vitamins.. I like the gummie vitamins better than regular chewables.. I have a complete gummie vitamin and I took it pre-op every day and all blood work was great.. I also bought the Bariatric Advantage chewables for after surgery, but I hate the after taste.. So I've been taking 2 gummies in the morning and one bariatric advantage at night.. I'm only 2 months post op.. Any info would be appreciated!

I'm on day 9 post op and I've been taking 2 Flinstones with added Iron for a multivitamin. I was taking centrum chewables but stopped post op after I got home because I'm currently having to take; Augmentin, Hydrocodone, sublingual B complex, sublingual D, Protonix, plus my multivitamin Every Day! The centrum chewable I was taking did not have added iron and I had to chew 4 gumball size chewables a day. I started takin the Flinstones because they have the added iron and I only need to take 2 a day and they are small. Someone told me it's BAD!!!! What should I take for a multi?

Hello, I've had Gastric Bypass in July 2012. I'm trying to up my Protein using the shakes again but I'm finding they go right through me and then I'm running to the bathroom for the next 4 hours or more and my system is off for the rest of the day. I know we can become lactose intolerant however, I don't believe there is any lactose in the brands I've used. I'm wondering if there is something else in the shakes throwing me off. Any recommendations? I suppose I could try soy but, they claim having too much soy isn't good for people either. Has anyone else had this issue? What are you currently using?

I have had low Vitamin D levels for as long as I can remember. The levels have ranged from 17-24. I have taken 2,000 - 4,000 iu supplements for years. I even tried 50,000 iu weekly prescription supplements for a couple of months last year and the level only went up to 26. So I was nervous to see what my level would be 3 months post bypass, but to my surprise, the level was 42! So my question is can anyone think of a logical explanation for this or is it most likely an error? My doctor was pleasantly surprised, but did not have any theory as to why it happened. I suppose my milk intake has increased greatly due to Protein shakes, etc (I never really drank much milk) bu…

I'm analytical by nature, so during the run-up to my surgery last August, I devised this spreadsheet to help me with choosing the right Protein for me. At this link, you can see what I evaluated, how I rated it (ratings are at the bottom of the sheet), how each one adhered to the requirements of my hospital's program (The colored cells on the right), and my thoughts on each one. Everyone has different tastes, but this sheet helped me to keep track of what was good to me and what I wanted to stay away from. I hope some of you find this useful. http://goo.gl/Vb3Me

So I was at the grocery store today, and came across this unflavored Protein powder for $11. I grabbed it without thinking, because all the other ones I'd seen were twice that expensive. And it SOUNDED good - 24g of protein, no carbs, 110 calories, some Vitamins added in, so I'm thinking maybe I found a powder that would work for me to stir into Soups and whatnot. But then on the back, I read that it says it's "not intended for weight loss." Does anyone know why this would be? This is the first time I've bought Protein Powder (I had my surgery three weeks ago), so do they all say that as some sort of catch-all warning? I'm looking at the ingredients and I really can't f…

I found premier protein shakes at my local dollar tree so I stocked up. Problem is I'm pre op & I will not have a long pre op diet. The sale by date is before I will be on regular liquids. Does anyone know if they can be frozen? Or if they are good after the sale by date?

Wikipedia says the the adult upper limit is around 2000 mg before any ill side effects occur. I am wondering about taking 4000-5000 mg daily spread out. I have 1000 mg powered c that i add to 32 oz of water. It is about 1 tsp. So far things have been fine without side effect over the last few days. There are many benefits that come from high doses of c. What do you think?

Hi Sleevers!!! I was sleeved 12/2 and am still in the liquid phase of my diet. I move into mushy foods next week including bananas and soft veggies. While in the hospital, I was potassium deficient and was given a supplement. I've checked out the Vitamins at drug stores and they only provide 3% of your daily allowance. Any ideas on increasing my potassium intake? I was thinking of getting creative with my Protein Shakes by adding yogurt, berries and spinach and then having a banana as a snack. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I LOVE the chocolate 100% Whey from costco! It is so so good! I use it as a base with a bit of almond milk and half a banana with some ice... Blend that puppy up... Yummy! Seriously.. It's fantastic.... Also if you have a vitamix blender... You can blend it longer with the ice... And it turns into ice cream!!! Seriously! It comes out so thick you can use an ice cream scooper to serve it with! Does anyone else use this brand? If so how do you prepare it?

Hello gurus! I need your advice. I was told by some muscle-bound GNC dudes today that the pre-mixed Isoppure protein drinks are very chalky-tasting. (But they claimed the huge $45 tub of Isopure powder was excellent.) I am looking for a sports-drink-like alternative to the shakes. Is there anything palatable that has good protein and has a different texture than a shake?

I am not sure about anyone else but buying my Protein shakes and drinks, Vitamins, supplements and other things, have been kinda expensive. I have been buying samples from bjbariatrics.com. But I wanted to find a better deal with more to offer, I searched the web and found another website BariatricChoice.com that carried a ton of different protein options, bariatric foods for Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Snacks, vitamins, supplements and my favorite protein Syntrax nectar, I signed up and got $20 off my first order! I did get a referral code to share, basically you get $20 off your first order of $40 or more, and I get $20 for the referral.. kinda a win, win. It's not a…

Has anyone tried the Kirkland Signature Complete Nutrition shake (vanilla flavored) from costco? I usually get the Premiere Protein (30g) chocolate ones there, and happened to see these. Didn't want to buy a case of 32 in case they didn't taste great. These only have 9g of protein per shake but apparently have less sugar (25%) in them then Ensure.

While perusing the natural foods section of my local Kroger, I found a stellar markdown on PB2 chocolate flavor. It was $4.59/container marked down to $0.99! They don't expire for a year, so it makes me wonder if the chain is closing out the flavor, and eliminating it from their store shelves. I have enough to last me a long while, but I wanted to pass the deal along in case anyone else wanted to see if they could find a similar deal. I'm in the D/FW Metroplex, and the PB2 was in the natural market part of the store, right where it would normally belong (so not in a markdown bin in a different section). If you don't spot any there, perhaps check the markdown bin. Eve…

We moved this past year from Colorado to Arizona, my nurse/nutritionist at my previous doctor's office said that we could only take bariatric Vitamins like Bariatric Advantage for RNY. My current nutritionist says that taking Flinstones are ok, so I am confused. I asked my doctor and he said flinstones, but didn't state the amount....Everything I read online says childrens vitamins are not ok and I would have to take 4 daily. I am trying to make the most of my RNY on 02/06/2013 and some of my Vitamin levels are on the low side, but I don't want to have to pay for just a name. I don't mind spending the money if the bariatric vitamins are indeed better. I am just curious …

So we all know about SF Popsicles, but what about protein Popsicles? I just made my own and they're yummy. First get some Popsicle molds (I actually used silicone tube molds from Amazon, so I don't have to deal with the stick). I used li flavored drops - like Mio - added to water and mixed in unflavored protein powder. Then poured in the molds and froze. So now I'm getting my protein even when sucking my pops for postop when getting anything in can be difficult. I mixed it at a concentration so I'm getting 10gms per pop.

My king soopersnow carries flap jacked pancakes. pancake. I made them into waffles this morning by following the pancake recipe and using a waffle Iron. It is higher in carbs than what I usually eat for b-fast but I plan to stay very low carb the rest of the day. They are expensive. I paid 3.00 for the smallest package and it will feed me for 2 meals.
