I just wanted to give a quick review of unjury Protein shakes. I ordered the starter kit and what a surprise! I recieved it carefully wrapped in colorful paper (Orange) and it also contained a thermometer and measuring container. My computer printed receipt also had a hand written quick note thanking me for my order. After unpacking and seeing all this, I was really impressed. Now thats showing appreciation for your customers! I was really hoping I would like their products now! I made a Protein shake today using 1/4 cup ice 2/3 cup skim milk 1/2 banana and the chocolate protein. YUMMMMMM IS ALL I can say! Absolutely loved it?? Not sure yet how exactly i have t…

so, I'm starting to get sick of the Bariatric Advantage multi flavor. The problem with most of the non-chewables are that they are so huge and the tasty gummies don't have much if any Iron. Anyone know of a good one with plenty of iron?

Currently, I use EAS Lean 15 for my Protein shake in the mornings. Are there any post op people who use EAS whey Protein? How does it go down, taste, etc? Also, do you have any recommendations for powders you like ? Thanks!

I've seen people on this board talk about Quest protein bars and how good they are. I've even seen a few people say that, for them, these bars are a trigger food and that they couldn't keep them in the house; but I could never understand it. To me, protein bars are the kind of food that you tolerate or choke down, but never one that you crave. Until this weekend, when I had my first Quest bar and now I get it. Those things are delicious and I could totally see myself over-eating them!

Just met with dietician for my first visit on Friday. Unlike previous diet/nut visits, I liked her a lot. She was young, knowledgable about bariatric needs, didn't try to suggest I eat way too many carbs for a diabetic trying to lose weight, etc. One thing I did wonder about though, is that, she said just 60 g of Protein a day would be necessary both now and post-op. I know on here, everyone says eat as much protein as you can and even advise up to 80 or even a 100 g a day. (I asked about that and she said, well, after surgery you're going to struggle just to get 60 in. Which is probably true, but...hopefully not for long?) She also recommended Vega One plant-based pr…

Hello everyone. I'll be having surgery this Thursday (7/31) at Baylor Regional Medical Center in Plano, Texas. I 've read a lot about how peoples tastes change after surgery. My two biggest concerns post surgery are staying hydrated and getting my Protein in. I thought Isopure would help potentially do both. I have 35 20oz bottles of Isopure being refrigerated. The flavors are Alpine Punch, Apple Melon, and Grape. I split a bottle three ways with my wife and son who will also be having the surgery later this year. We tried the Alpine Punch and thought it was decent nothing to write home about but certainly nothing that would make me puke or think that I couldn't …

Was introduced to wow butter last week. I feel like I can live again. Although it has a really roasted nut taste to it..I am so enjoying it for Breakfast. I can now have a choice of Raisin Bran, Wow Butter toast, Wild Roots, organic Granola or another newbie for me Wild Roots, organic Multi-Grain Cereal. And of course yogurt or all the other things..But the choices are starting to expand..And I love it!!!!!! Brings a smile to my face every day now!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes!

Iron is the bane of my existence. Seriously. We all know Calcium binds with iron, but apparently some types of soy and things in grains do too. Every post op check up has shown my iron as low. Anyone have a solid plan for how to take iron? I take iron with a Vitamin C, but have yet to find a decent snack I can pair it with so I can take it....3 hours after my last meal... With a Vitamin C... Without calcium... Without soy... So it doesn't make me puke (Ugh.) Help would surely be appreciated. Thank you!

FYI-Had 6 week meeting with my NUT yesterday and somehow in our conversation I mentioned Premier Protein shakes and their 30gms of protein. She said those only have 11gms of usable/absorbable protein per shake. I knew the protein in them was the kind she had previously cautioned against using because it was a protein CONCENTRATE or BLEND, but I guess I assumed I was still getting 20gm or so from it. I guess you get what you pay for-cheaper costco shakes vs quality Protein Shakes. Obviously other NUT's may have different research or opinions on this, but I felt like I just needed to let people know what i found out because i wish i had known this earlier in my journey, and…

OK, just an FYI... I thought it would be a good idea to use the Isopure ready to drink protein in my green smoothie. I had kale, strawberries and the Isopure. The Isopure will whip up like egg whites, making the smoothie fluffy, but not sip able. You have to use a spoon. I'm thinking this may work well as a high protein dessert if made with sugar free pudding.

Has anyone used these long term? My Nut suggested them for only the first 2-3 days post op. she said they were not a good nutritional value long term. I couldn't stomach them that first week. Now after over 2 months post op I can tolerate them if I pour it in a glass and chug it down quickly. even still they make me nauseous, but 42 grams of protein is hard to beat. Any thoughts? I'm thinking of ordering the variety pack from Amazon.

I'm about 10 weeks out and am finally beginning to get most of my Protein (75 g) without the use of Protein shakes, however, on days that I fall short, I often rely on a Quest, or other type of high Protein Bar as an evening snack. As long as they fit in with my daily calorie and carb count (60 g or less per day), is there any harm in this? Just wondering how other successful losers have used these bars and how often? Thanks!

I'm heading in for my VSG on September 4 and am just now perusing Protein choices. Received a sample of a drink mix called Amazing Meal by Amazing Grass in a subscription box, of all places. Mixed with 10 oz of Water it says it provided 10g protein and 6g of fibre. It is entirely plant based with no added sugars. A little gritty but the vanilla chai flavour doesn't taste bad at all. Would this be a viable Protein shake option? Thanks!

I guess I need to start looking at the different Protein powders and finding out what's best. I realize everyone has different tastes, but what were the better tasting protein powders?? Is there unflavored powder to mix with foods?? I saw Six Star Pro Nutrition berry Blast Professional Strength Protein Shots advertised at Walmart and wondered if anyone had tried them? I'd just like to hear from people what worked for them. I guess I will learn more when I have my NUT appointment at the Doctor's office, but wanted to get a head start. Thanks

I have had so much trouble getting in enough Protein. I tried all kinds of powders and shakes and would get so nauseated with the smell I would get sick. My nutritionist told me to get protein shots (bought online). Well I drank them because they were the least of all the "evils", however I had to hold my nose and stand over the sink in case I threw up. I could not finish the 24 ounce shots but got, close. They were so coagulated that I could not get the taste out of my mouth for a few hours and I would dread each day. I was so weak I knew I had to figure out something I could live with. Finally, a few days ago my fiancé and I found a Vitamin World in another city. T…

The only Protein shakes I have tried have been milkshake like flavors-chocolate, vanilla, etc. I see on here there are other varieties ie chicken Soup flavor, tomato soup and fruit nectars. Do you drink them like a shake or do you make chicken soup with them? It is hard for me to wrap my head around this concept. Unflavored powders you add to things like ? cold or hot? I heard Proteins clump if they are too hot-so how does this work? Thanks!

http://www.mckinley.illinois.edu/handouts/dietary_sources_iron.html Heme Iron one type of dietary iron. It is more readily absorbed by the body because it is derived from foods that once contained hemoglobin, a Protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen to cells. Nonheme iron is the other form of dietary iron. Derived from foods without hemoglobin, nonheme iron is not absorbed as well as heme iron and should be eaten with other foods that boost iron absorption Nonheme sources of iron include fruits and vegetables, dried Beans, nuts and seeds, whole grains and fortified cereals. I am really sensitive to artificial sweeteners and deathly allergic to aspartame. I do not care too much for a lot of sweet anyways. Does anyone know of any all natural preferably organic, non-gmo chewable or liquid Vitamins or Calcium supplements. I get sick when I take the ones that were given to me. I find the idea strange to add artificial sweeteners and chemicals to my diet to get healthy when I have always done homemade, organic, non processed.

I was driving home the other day and saw a Complete Nutrition store, so I decided to check it out. I told the guy what I was looking for and he led me to some huge containers of Protein powder. I asked if he had any small packets I could buy to try it before I wasted my money on a huge container I wouldn't like. He said that I could try some in store, or he could send me some home to try. I opted for some to take home. He gave me 2 full size scoop samples, put into nice reusable cups with lids. He gave me "Reclaim Smart Smoothie" in chocolate mint and mochachino latte - He said that he prefers to make his the night before and keep them in the fridge. I decided t…

Hey everyone... A while back I got a 4 pack of Premier Protein drinks that were a bit clumpy, even though they didn't expire until June 2014. I emailed the company asking if they were still ok to drink. They assured me that they were fine, they just had a tendency to clump due to the high level of protein they contained, and to make sure I shook it up really good before drinking it. About a week later, I received a box of 18 Premier Protein drinks! I really appreciated that they wanted to keep me as a customer. Now, nearly a month later, I receive another box of 18 Premier Protein drinks! The letter that came with it said that they changed the formula a little so i…

Apples and peanut butter have always been a favorite snack of mine. Post op it's been apples and PB2. So I thought I'd be clever and create an apple peanut butter protein shake. Mixed Syntrax Nectar Apple Ecstasy and PB2. Tried several different versions with varying the amounts of the two ingredients. They all sucked! And smelled like puke. Beware! Do not try this at home.
