For anyone who happens to read my posts, you might know that I am not great at getting in Protein and I hate Protein shakes. It has been 1 year and 7 months since my surgery and I have had less than 4 protein shakes in the entirety of that time. They are, in my opinion, so gross tasting and I would rather just eat a few pieces of chicken than slurp down chalky tasting milk. Also, milk and sugar tend to make me sick so that was another part of my rationale. I decided this week that while I am at goal, I would like to drop 10 more pounds, which would put me at the goal I set when I was younger. I keep reading everyone's post about how they always eat protein first, wh…

Hey there! I need some suggestions. I was given the Bariatriac Advantage multivitamins and they come up quicker than they go down. My doctor said I could take the Flinstone vitamins instead but I'm not sure how many to take daily. I've read that some people take 1, others take 2.

What Protein bars do you all have? There's always a lot of talk about shakes, but not so much about the bars - which are handy when you are out and about. I am in UK, but find I can get most things from the internet. I've recently discovered 'Power Crunch' - but just wondering what else everyone likes..?

I have a bunch of different Protein powders that I need to give away, they are taking up way too much space! They are all open, but are either tubs with lids or resealable bags that have been kept in proper storage. Everything is within its expiration date (only a few months old). I have about half a bag of the following: Bariatric Advantage strawberry Bariatric advantage chocolate Almost full tubs of the following Isopure pineapple, orange, banana Protizyme vanilla Cake Also, I have some supplements Bariatric advantage advanced Fiber Bariatric advantage Calcium chewy bites Bariatric advantage chewable calcium citrate, wild cherry…

Just an FYI to all you folks out there: Isopure powder does not taste the same as the premade bottles. They add other Vitamins and "magic goo" and it makes it creamy and IMO nasty. I LOVE the apple melon Isopure zero carb. I make Jello from it, freeze it for ice cubes to add to Water, drink it straight...whatever. I thought Id save some money and buy the bulk powder, but it was a bust.

Hi Everyone, So I did it!! I had the band removed and a sleeve done at the same time. Its a good thing I did, The surgeon said that I did really well on the surgery, but my liver and band had grown together and he had to scrape the band out of my liver and when there was bleeding. I never would of thought 5 years ago that a band would grow together with my liver ! I am feeling really well to day I hope the sleeve will work and I will lose some weight ! Today is my first day home and I was able to get the 40oz of Water in. My question is I have a case of Isopure zero carb Protein drink punch. 160 calories for 20oz of liquid. Would you consider it a liquid or a sm…

So almost all of the Protein I was drinking pre-op is now absolutely disgusting to me post op. Go figure. So I've basically had to start all over with tasting drinks and finding what works. And everything has to be diluted at least 2:1 with Water for me to even be able to stomach it. Isopure seems to be going down the best. Alpine Punch was my staple but I ran out. Today I got single bottles of Apple Melon, Coconut and Mango Peach. I'll probably get a case or two of them and revisit my other shakes a few weeks or months down the line and hopefully I can start to tolerate them again. They're so expensive I'd surely hate to waste them or have to give them away. I can't r…

Hello fellow sleevers! So I did it I had the realize band removed and a sleeve done at the same time. I am so glad I got the band removed. I guess my liver had grown into the band and my surgeon had to kind of scrape it out to remove it .Its sounds really awful so I am so glad it is gone forever! I hade to spend a few extra days in the hospital because I was having some trouble with the fluids trying to get them in, but I have to say it was a very easy surgery. So what I am wondering is I have this Protein drink called Isopure zero carb. Its does have 160 calories for 20 oz. 40 grams of protein for the whole bottle. Would you consider this drink a clear liquid?…

Anyone have recommendations for good Protein bars that are low in carbs? I've been using Quest because it has low "net" carbs. Now I read that carbs are carbs and net carbs have actually not been proven. Any thoughts and suggestions.

I am wanting to know if anyone has tried this Protein shake. It is on sale until 4/28 at www.puritan.com The price is $10.99 with free shipping for a container with 16 ounces of powder (13 servings). The carbs are a little higher than what I am use to, but I think I may ease up a little since I'm near goal and this shake has so many additional nutrients that I need. I really like that it has Fiber, protein, tons of Vitamins and minerals, Omega fatty acids, Biotin, digestive support enzymes, amino acids, and b-vitamins for energy. It has great reviews from what I've read so far. Here is some info. about the Protein Shake from the web site: Nature’s Bounty® Compl…

I tried the OhYeah Victory bars - oatmeal raisin and Cookies and cream. Both tasted pretty good, but left me with a bitter aftertaste. They were pretty good and only cost $17 for 12 bars, but Quest bars are still the king! Anyone else tried OhYeah? Should I bother trying the other OhYeah flavors or just stick to the more expensive Quest bars? [sharedmedia=videos:videos:6]

I'm just wondering how much Premier Protein shakes are at Sam's. There's a Groupon for a Sam's Club membership right now and it's a really good deal. I just don't think I'd use it for much more than the shakes so I'm not sure if it's worth it for me. Anyone buy their Premier Protein there? TIA!

To repair and rebuild your body, post-surgery recovery requires amino acids, which are the building blocks of lean tissue. Amino acids are found in Protein and dairy or can be taken as supplements such as glutamine powder. I am not a nutritionist so for best results check with your healthcare professional. Here's my Recovery smoothie Recipe which I developed for my plastic surgery post op recovery, before I went Paleo It is probably best to eliminate the honey if you use this post bariatric surgery so as to avoid possible dumping syndrome. Good luck in your weight loss journey! I hope my recipe helps someone! http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/163803/recov…

My instructions are to have three meals, plus two Protein "snacks" (a bar or a shake) per day. No matter what shakes I drink I find them to be nauseating, so for a while I switched to the bars (Quest bars) and was eating two of those a day, or occassionally a bar plus a shake a day. (Premier Protein Shakes.) But I'm just finding it too hard to get all of my protein in when I just do the bars so I'm switching back to shakes at least once, if not twice daily. I'm not super happy about it, but I just don't know any other way right now to get enough protein in. Some days it works out, but other days if I'm not paying attention I'm way under goal. Did anyone else find it to…

Hello all, some have contacted me because my Taste test videos were not working for them on ipads, iphones etc. Well that is due to the fact they used Adobe flash which is not supported by apple products. So I have now put all my taste test video up on easy to watch you tube. For those who may not know I do many taste tests of various Protein shakes and mixes etc. Enjoy! Thank you. Looking to see what Protein bars everyone eats and what powder is being used? My NUT was using Celebrate so I brought a tub of protein and a box of the celebrate bars. I like the powder (cinnabun) the bars not so much (Carmel crunch), for my drink I mix 4 oz of skim milk and 4 oz of Water. I just went today and brought Quest bars which have 4g more of fat, 6g more of protein, 3g more carbs sugar is 4g less. Any opinion on quest bars? Or any others that are on the market

Hey all, I'm about 6 weeks pre-op so my surgeon has recommended that I start sampling Vitamins and gathering up what I'll need as far as vitamins and supplements. I ordered a sample pack of vitamins from Celebrate on recommendation from my doctor and her other patients and wow, I can't believe what they sent me for $3.00. There's at least 12-15 samples here... According to Celebrate, every sample pack is different but you will get at least one item from each category (Multivitamin, Calcium, Iron, etc) They sent me: Multivitamin Chewables in Pineapple-strawberry, Mandarin Orange, Grape Calcet Creamy Bites in Lemon (amazing!!!, will definitely be ordering) Calcium …

So, one week post-op, and I am having a hard time taking in all of the fluids AND getting my Protein numbers. Great find found on the internet - Protein 2 O beyond Water. It has 0 sugar, 2 Carbs, and 15 grams of protein in 16.9 Fluid ounces! I don't know about the other flavors, but the Lemon Splash is really good. It is so much easier going down as it isn't a thick milky shake. It was $1.59 a bottle at Target. I haven't found it cheaper any place else. Since I won't be doing more that a bottle a day, that doesn't seem too bad.

Has anyone found or can anyone recommend a Protein powder or drink that is calcium-free or very very low in Calcium? I work out mostly in the evening and drink a shake or Protein Drink after, but I also take my Iron at night and I was advised by my dr to find a protein that is calcium-free or incredibly low in calcium, as calcium affects iron absorption. I can't mix calcium and iron within 6 hours of each other, which is nearly impossible if I'm having Protein shakes (that have calcium) 3-4x a day. Thanks in advance!

I have a good brown rice Protein that I can use for shakes but it's really gritty and tastes pretty awful just with Water. I ordered samples of a different brand that claims to be smoother from Growing Naturals but haven't received them yet to try. Suggestions of other brands I should try? I'm thinking about the first couple weeks after surgery, is there any clear protein powder/shake/shot that would work for me? All the clear liquid Isopure, etc ones I've checked have whey. I'm hoping there's one I haven't heard of yet that would work for me? Also, I'm in Canada so will need to be able to get it shipped here. Same with Protein Bars. They all have nuts, whey and/or s…
