So I've been trying to get more Protein into my system and get closer to the surgery diet as I can while I wait to start the process. I'm on the keto diet but I'm having problems getting my protein in. Which one of these 3 would you guys choose? I know everyone loves the Premier Protein ones but it bothers me that they have more carbs in them than I've seen others contain. Nature's Best Perfect Zero Carb Isopure GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein Premier Protein Whey Protein I'm probably making this harder than I need to but after being so unhealthy for so long I want to make sure I'm getting as many nutrients as I can the best way that I can.

I'm having trouble with Calcium....the major problem is it constipates me so bad [emoji20]. I have trouble taking it in pill form...even the ones that say petite get stuck or hurt going down. Another problem is the amount of pills you have to take to get the recommended amount!! I don't want to take 10 pills a day just in calcium, that could get Very expensive!! Right now I'm taking the Opurity chewable...that's 5 a day. Thanks in advance for any advice/input. [emoji3]

My surgery was June 4th and I have been a little over a week Post-Op. At first I really enjoyed the taste of my Protein shake. However, two days in and now I cant even look at it. It is so gross to me now!! I also hate my Multivitamins. I am taking Bariatric fusion in "Wild Cherry." But the tablets are enormous and they are not necessarily tasty hehe. I would love it if you guys would share your supplements with me so I can have a wider range of choice! That would be awesomeee!!! Happy loosing!!!

How much B12 do you take every day? My viewable multi has 500mcg and I take a supplemental 1000mcg sublingual 4 times a week. My B12 is high though (almost 1300). My papers and NUT all said 1000mcg per day (I came down to 4 times per week because my last test was too high). My surgeon says it is only 1000mcg per WEEK not per DAY. But she also said there is no danger in having too much as you just pee it out (expensive pee ????). Yes I know this is a question for my NUT and/or surgeon but just curious of others experience / advice Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

I'm so excited!! My favorite Protein drinks are the convenient Premier Protein shakes and they now come in Bananas and Cream! Yummm! I haven't had them myself yet, but can't wait to get it. A friend's mom got them from Sam's Club. I checked Sam's and costco, but nothing showing on their websites yet. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

Hello All, As a sleeve patient 3 years post-op, I completely understand the difficulty of meeting your Protein goals when your stomach is so tight; especially within those first couple of months post-op, when swelling is causing further restriction. This is the very reason I wanted to share with you a Protein Drink that I discovered here recently. I have been consuming and trying various protein supplementation for over 17 years. As a young college student, I was very active in weight lifting and I was very conscience about nutrition (yes, that was before kids, full time job, husband and obesity hit) and protein intake. Even once I gained the weight, my husband was st…

Has anyone used the gladiator protein powder from smoothie king? I was wondering how people are liking it or not. I'm 3 days post op and I'm struggling to get my minimum of 80 grams of protein l... The gladiator had 40grams per serving so I was thinking of getting it for the high protein content.

For those of you that use the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chewables, do you have flavors that you love and/or hate? I originally bought the chocolate flavor off Amazon and loved it. When my surgeon's office me gave free samples I like the caramel too, I thought coconut was so-so. The tropical chewables like yellow, orange, and red-pink are too fruity for me. Those taste just like Starbursts and no surprise that I was never into Starbursts as a kid. Although I like peanut butter and chocolate as separate flavors, together I didn't like it. How was your experience?

Hi All, Coming into week 5 of Sleeve. I have been using the patch MD Patches for multi, D3, and B12. I also do a liquid multi too. I have loved the patches and ease of use, have no idea if they work yet (blood tests at 8 weeks will tell all). But, encountered a huge issue earlier this week. I had placed two of them on my upper chest and when I went to remove them the following morning the skin underneath looked burned and oozing. I have left the company a message, and emailed twice without a response. The third patch that was on my upper stomach was fine. I do know that I was in the sun and the patches were exposed to it. Perhaps there's a reaction from sunlight on th…

Hello! I recently spent quite a bit on money of a really big bag of whey Protein Isolate. I have only been able to get down one shake. Could anyone out there supply me with ideas I could use to make it more palatable? What types of things can I add? I don't want it to go to waste. Would love lots of ideas. Thanks so much, Cassie

I have what may be a silly question, but when do you take Vitamins (or other medicines) that are in pill form? I've been released to swallow the pills without crushing, but I can't figure out when to take them. Most of the vitamins say that they are to be taken with food, but I would need Water to swallow them. Since I'm not supposed to drink and eat at the same time, I'm stumped. Which rule is better to bend? The 'must be taken with food' rule? What has worked for you? Thank you, Misty

I bought a couple of samples of is isopure zero carb ready to drink- 2 alpine punch and 2 grape frost. I thought I should just try one for fun so I cracked open the alpine punch after leaving it in the fridge overnight and OMG! I threw up!!!!! ???? I heard there was an aftertaste and I was like "yeah none of this shyte tastes good anyway" but nothing, NOTHING prepared me for this aftertaste! I thought it would be more realistic for post op if I sipped it out of a shot glass(I've played post op surgery awhile now to prepare me not to gulp). At first, when it hit my tongue I was like "eh, that's not to bad" and then swallowed and OMG it was like rotten milk mixed with burnt…

I'm almost two weeks post op for an rny gastric bypass. My taste buds are happiest with savory flavors. I only eat sweets on occasion. I'm sick of drinking sweet flavored shakes, so I'd love to find a flavorless Protein powder I can add to Soups and other foods as my eating evolves. I prefer unsweetened soy or plant-based options, if possible. I will move to mushy foods on Monday. I'd love suggestions! Thanks! Sent from my LG-H810 using the BariatricPal App

So I recently ordered the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites 500mg in caramel, and I have to say -- they taste great! But they are incredibly sweet, and I'm little worried about how I'm going to tolerate eating 3 of these a day. I've heard great things about the lemon ones, however. For those of you who've tried both -- what do you think of them?? I know the lemon chews only have 250 mg of Calcium, but they're significantly cheaper. Are they better/less sweet so that I could tolerate taking twice as many or would you recommend chowing down the least number of chews I can??? lol Being able to get back on pills will be a wonderful step in this journey!!

I need suggestions on transporting Protein shakes back and forth to work. I have to drink 5 shakes a day. Can you mix powder milk with the Protein Powder and then add cold Water at work? Or would I be better off buying a thermos large enough to carry three to work? I don't want to take a 1/2 gallon of almond milk to work with me. We have fridges, but everyone in the building uses them. Pre-made Protein Shakes are a lot more expensive. That is why I have switched to powder.

Blood work shows that I'm low on thiamine. My doctor told me to take 100mg daily. I'm wondering if there is more than one type and if one is better than the other(s) in terms of efficient absorption, et al. The question occurs to me because of the existence of Calcium citrate and calcium carbonate supplements, the former being better. Love to hear from someone knowledgeable. I've done some googling to no avail. Thanks.

From what I've read my bariatric surgeon has a very different outlook on Protein than most that I've heard about. He only approves Protein drinks as a part of the pre-op diet and advises that protein post-op should come from "real food". He also does not recommend the use of any artificial sweeteners. So far, I've been really on board with both of these tactics. I prefer "real food" and cutting out all sweet stuff for months has really helped me not crave sweets at all. That said, I'm nervous about getting my correct amount of protein in. Another tactic I have been using is to only eat three meals a day, to stop myself from getting into the habit of grazing (also s…

I am 5.5 months out and have lost about 80 pounds. I am shedding my hair like mad and its getting noticeably thinner. I am taking Biotin supplements but I don't believe that's for regrowth. Has anyone had the same issue? Is it lack of protein or from rapid weight loss? Did you use anything that helped? Did drs recommend any supplements or anything? Help!!!

Do any of you guys use PillPack for your Vitamins? I'm going to be having surgery soon and I'll be using chewables for the first few weeks, but I know I'm going to be look at switching to pills ASAP. Their selection seems to be pretty good, with very reasonable prices. I like that they break them up into little pouches with the time--easy to take today's pills and pop them in your purse! But does anybody have any experience about their reliability and customer service???

I just replaced my chewable "gummy" Bariatric advantage vitamins with a chewy Bariatric advantage tablet, because they quit making the starburst- like one. I've taken them with and without food, but every time I've taken them they give me an upset stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? If you've found a Bariatric quality vitamin that doesn't upset your stomach please share.

The first batch of genpro I received was excellent. Dissolved well, and had these cool little take out bags. The latest batch, the container was different, and started clotting up in coffee, and the bags were absent. I found whey Protein Isolate Powder at 1/3 the price. Essentially the same stuff based on their claims. Has anyone tried it?

Not sure this is a recipe or where to put this. I've taken to heating my Roadside Lemonaid or Fuzzy Navel drinks as the weather has gotten colder, and due to just feeling yucky with a pre-cold. I mix it cold in my usual way, then microwave between 140 and 160 degrees. It's sort of like hot Tang, if any of you are old enough to remember that

So I am having the sleeve on Jan 6th. All of the papers tell them I should use Bariatric Advantage Protein powder for the pre-op and post-op diets. The Dr's office sells it and I assume the get a kick back which is why they push it. However since that is like 45 mins away and I have a GNC like 5 mins away, I was going to get the Isopure Low Carb Protein Powder. It has less sugar and more protein than the BA anyways. So, am I missing something, or should I be fine with the ISOPure? Thanks! Jim

Seriously. I'm pre-preop and am sampling Protein drinks/powders so I will know which ones I like when the time comes. I went by my doctor's specs and from there ratings. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury always had a lot of good ratings, so I ordered my samples. Ew? This is on the vanilla. I find there to be a super strong during taste. If there's an aftertaste, the during completely blocks it out! Anyway, to each her own. I won't be investing in Unjury for my diet. (Just, blech. Had to share.) For those who wonder, Syntrax (only tried the chocolate so far) and Isopure (plain) h…

I have been doing some research on nutrients needed to sustain a healthy life after the malabsorptive forms of bariatric surgery such as the bypass or sleeve. I found recommendations from 3 reputable sources. The U.S. Navy, The Cleveland Clinic and John's Hopkins Medical Center. The 3 had some slightly varied information and nutrients needed to survive without health issues. I compiled their suggestions into one document and am posting that below. I would like to know if anyone out there has found any good Multivitamin that combines everything that is needed listed below in the quantities suggested with exception maybe of the Calcium citrate and D3 that should be taken…

A lot of people ask for Protein drink advice, and since I've had a really hard time find a Protein Drink that I could tolerate, I've tried a LOT of them. Most of the time, the suggestions we get are "try drink X, I love it" but it can be hard to tell if you will like the same thin because everyone has different tastes. So, I thought I'd write up my assessments here in case it helps someone else. To help you gauge your tastes to mine,:I do not like sweet drinks like sweet tea, nor do I care for artificial sweeteners (including stevia) or sugar alcohols; I don't mind the mild texture that is a given with protein powders. So if I say a drink is "extremely sweet," and …

Has anyone tried this? My husband just bought some for me on the recommendation of a colleague who had bariatric surgery. Each half gallon contains over 150 egg whites, sucralose, and other natural/artificial flavors. It's allegedly delicious and comes in something like a dozen flavors. You can also bake with it. It's 25g of Protein per 8 oz serving, with 1g sugar and no fat. Considering that it's packed with protein, I'm sick of (and sick from) protein shakes, and these 2 half gallons were hella expensive, I'm drinking them even if they taste like garbage! I have one in a vanilla cupcake flavor and another in chocolate caramel. Anyone have experience with these…
