Protein bars

How soon after surgery is it ok to eat protein bars?

I think my quest bars would do me some good right now.

And why do doctors say that protein bars are not to take the place of the shakes???

My NUT said that protein bars are okay 4 weeks post op. I haven't heard anything about not doing bars in place of shakes long term after surgery but short term the bars are too hard on your stomach.

  • I also think they are heavier on the carbs and can slow your weight loss if used too much.

Need to let tummy heal...more it has to break down nutrients it'll b that much longer to heal..I'm 5 wks an I am still drinking at least one sometimes 2 daily..tummy lets me no believe me...I'd drink or keep at soft foods them bars are hard an require more tummy to break down...that's my input: )

My nutritionist said Protein bars can be eaten at 1 month. It can be hard on the stomach

I was told that the protein bars aren't as readily absorbed as the shakes, so you don't get the same quality of nutrition. But who knows?

I also think they are heavier on the carbs and can slow your weight loss if used too much.
