I'm getting a slight pain in my left shoulder. Apparently when I drink something that is carbonated I feel it. It may not be a big deal for me but has anyone had this kind of problem? Also if anyone has followed my posts I still have the intense cramping. It feels like soreness and I'm very confused with this.

Hello I was banded 16 months ago and now have BMI 22. Obviously great news. About a month ago I had my band completely deflated because of reflux symptoms. But now I have a new symptom of pain. For about a week I've had pain on eating or drinking, I can't eat more than a few mouthfuls before resting, so I don't think this is a pouch dilatation. Then there is awful epigastric pain, sometimes going through to my back. It's relieved by drinking lots of Water, though not always, and it's kept me awake at night a few times. I wondered if it was reflux oesophagitis and bought some gaviscon advance which really helped for a few days along with a soft diet. Although last ni…

  4. So I haven't been to my lap band doctor in 1 1/2 to 2 years, and I am in need of a fill, but I'm nervous. I have gained around 12 lbs. since I last saw him so I really need to go back, but I don't want to get yelled at . The other problem is he moved offices so it was 40 miles away from me, which is hard to get off work half a day just to go get a fill. But he has now moved back to his old location which isn't even 10 miles away so that's a good thing. I guess I just need advice on what to do....

So I quit smoking about a year ago and suddenly my green zone fill was like not being banded at all and I let it go for too long. food smells and tastes so good now and I'm loose as all get out so everything goes down. I've gained all but about 10 pounds of my weight back - I didn't know it was that bad until this morning when I had my gym orientation at work. The weird thing? My shape is TOTALLY different from what it was pre-band at about the same weight (at least I'm sexy with it this time). I'm disappointed in myself still but the fat came back differently than it was before. Anyway, I'm rededicated and waiting for my appointment on the 30th for a fill and I'm…

  8. Ok so I have been (am) on the hunt for low carb foods that will replace chips. And boy have I tried a lot!! Anyway i ran across a product the other day that I think will help. The are called Moon Pops. They are kind of like very thin rice cakes. I wouldn't say they are flavorfull....more like the absence of flavor. But they are crunchy and thats what I needed. They have 16 calories/0 fat/ 4 carbs for 1 piece about a 6" circle. They don't hold up well to heat, they get rubbery--like a stale cheese puff. but they are good with a thin layer of peanut butter or a thin layer of cream cheese and sugar free jam, a thin layer of your favorite dip....I even put a thin layer of…

  9. I'm curious how Lap Bandsters are approaching low carbing. Atkins (Induction phase) says 15-20 grams of netcarbs from your leafy green vegetables food group. Yet, I find it difficult to even eat one cup of green leafy vegetables because I still have to fit in my protein. How do we adjust being low carbers with a Lap Band? I'm still trying to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I've had 3 or 4 fills and I believe I am at 5 or 6 cc now. Since my fill last month I have had some scary experiences. I felt a searing pain in my esophagus and the need to throw up but couldn't. I have always had problems throwing up. I even tried to stick my fingers down my throat and that didn't help. I'm pretty sure each event was triggered by eating too big of a bite and/or too fast. Is this normal?

  12. So I go in for a fill tomorrow. I am almost exactly 6 months out. This is my 4th fill. What is bothering me is how slow they are progressing me. I have a total of 3.7 CC's in my 14 CC band. I really haven't felt much restriction. I can eat more than the 1 cup I am supposed to be satisfied on (even though I usually don't) and I do not stay full for the four hours I am supposed to stay full for. The doctor put 2 full CC's in at surgery time so my fills have been 1 CC, .5 CC and the last one .2 CC. She said she will continue to put .2 CC's in each time from now on. I am required to come in every month until I am one year out. At this rate it seems that it will take me the wh…

I'm glad I am not one of those awful cases, but my esophagus has stretched a bit. The Doc says I am the oldest lap band he has seen lol. Hi. I've just passed my 4 year bandiversary and am re-engaging with my lapband. I lost some weight pretty quickly but had two back surgeries in the middle. I started at 285, weighed 220 after the second back surgery (yay drugs!) and have since gone back up to 250+. I'm on day 4 of the 5 day band test and was 248 this morning. Could use a pal about now to help keep me on track. I'm in NoVA and telework full time. Hope to hear from you.

I really just need to share my story. I got my band in July 2012. I loved it. I loved it until the day I got it removed. In December of 2015 I started throwing up. I threw up everything, even Water. I had an unfill. I still threw up. I went to the emergency room and they did a contrast upper GI and said everything looked normal. I went home and continued throwing up for another 2 months. I finally had an endoscopy, and the doctor blurted out, you need to remove your band it has eroded into your stomach. I was crushed. I do burp which I assumed is normal and indicates that the fluid is going down. But every time I have a drink I bring most of it up. I've had my band for 1 year now and I've had no issues at all. Will things settle down in the next few days or does this mean my band is too tight. I'm at six and a quarter which I didn't think was to tight. Will it settle or will I need a de fill? I experienced a very slow start but once I hit the 1 year mark I knew how to manipulate the band so when I had to throw up, I had some coffee cups with lids around, and a clear line to a closed door office to take care of business. It turns out that after about 20 months with the band it got to the point that I couldn't even swallow Water without throwing up violently. I was banded on January 29th 2016 and got my third fill last week. It was only .7ccs. My first 2 fills were 2ccs each done by the same lovely nurse. This last one was done by a different nurse who jabbed the needle into what I believe must be scar tissue around my port. The first nurse never hurt me, in fact, I barely felt a thing. I am still having sharp pains when my pants or anything presses on that area. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I plan to request my original nurse from now on. I'm scheduled for another appointment next week and am not sure I could handle the needle.

Fills, unfills, episodes of being so tight I had to have an immediate unfill, etc. About 6 months ago I started having symptoms associated with a slip and the upper GI tests I've had done definitely show a slip. My choices are: remove lap band (which is not what I want to do), reposition lap band, or revise to a sleeve or bypass. Recently after my most recent unfill due to what the dr said was a prolapse I was under the impression I was going to have it removed and converted to a sleeve. We did the swallow study and after this he suggested to refill the band again because everything looked good. I was happy and sad at the same time. Of course happy because I really wasn't looking forward to having surgery. Sad because I knew I was going to spend the next 5 months slowly refilling. 37. I was banded in NYC Jan 2011, I lost 130 lbs and was doing fine until early March 2012 I was unable to keep foods and liquids down. I became weak and got down to 153 lbs (way too thin for me, i looked like a skeleton, my goal is 165). Anyway, I moved to NC in Feb 2012 for a new job and found a bariatric clinic to have my band deflated, it helped me keep down some small qty of liquid and yogurt etc, the dr wanted me to do a barium swallow and turned out my band slipped (part of my stomach below the band came up above the band and was red and inflamed) so they rushed me IMMEDIATELY (with NO INSURANCE, new job makes me wait 90 days) into surgery to remove the band on 3/22, m…

Banded 1/21/16 and have had 2 fills (3cc and 2cc). Last one was under fluroscope and was the max I could take; 3 ccs caused a blockage and Water wouldn't go down. After about a week, I feel like there is zero restriction. I can tell the band is there if I eat too fast, but never get that full feeling and am hungry at night after dinner. Anyone have similar experiences? Doc says it gets better by the 3rd fill but wondering what everyone else's experience is. It's got so bad that I made an urgent call to my Dr to get an unfil because I've inflamed the restricted part of my stomach. And in the two weeks of unfil I've put on 14lbs!! Whilst the weight gain is getting me down, I'm more worried about the emotional eating. If I can't get a grip, the operation will have been for nothing - and I could do some serious damage to my body. I've been keeping a journal and I'd say that 95% of my eating is driven by non-hunger. I never got a fill as back when I was seeing my surgeon on a regular basis, she felt I was losing at a steady pace; however, I began to have problems about six months after the surgery and she dismissed my pain as gas. She is a very busy person, that's fine, and I don't blame her. The pain escalated until I was barely eating for fear of triggering a pain attack I thought came from gas.
