I had my second band fill this afternoon. I have a 10 cc band. My surgery was October 12. My first fill in November was 3 cc. Today I received another 2.5 cc. (5.5 cc total in my band). I'm on liquids for the next 24 hours so it will be tomorrow afternoon before I will know how slow my stomach pouch empties. I'm down 32.2 pounds. I'm happy with my slow and steady loss. 10 pounds a month is my goal. Banded 10/12/16

Need some help with information on switching doctors. Back story- I chose a surgeon that was 2 hours away from me. They said Insurence would be worked out, but it's been such a hassle for the last 2 years. I last saw him in May, to get saline taken out do to pregnancy (8 months preg) now that I've had baby and am 6 months PP baby, I'm ready to go to a new surgeon to get a fill again. But I want a new surgeon and one closer to me. What should I expect from visiting a new doctor? Do I need to get all my records? Will doctors need to talk? Help please!

I am so tired of this coughing. I first got pneumonia, got that almost cleared up and then got chronic bronchitis, well as far as I know that is gone, now seems like all I do is cough or throw up. I have been sound asleep and start couging in my sleep, then the next thing I know I have a mouth full of something. Really scary cause I am asleep when this happens. Not sure how much I have in me right now, had went to the dr awhile back and he took out quite a bit, well now he has been putting it back and the coughing is getting worse. Cant sleep on account of this dont each much when I do I feel like everything is just setting there on top of band. He sent me for a swallow t…

I Was banded in July 2009. Since then I lost weight, had a baby and gained all my weight back. Surgery weight was 240 in 2009, now I weigh 235 Pounds. I am finally DONE yo-yo dieting, I am miserable. tired. hurting. DONE. I am done feeling this way, join with me I cant do it alone. Been there failed that. I need accountability, if you do too, join me. Chris Powell from Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition has a great book. Chose to Lose, which I have read before now he has a new book, Chose More, Lose More. It is carb cycling. I know me, I need chocolate, I will fail without being able to have treats, it just how I am. Let's start a new thread that tracks our progress. It would be nice to see everyone on one list. Let's use pounds lost to date and percent of total weight lost (what you lost divided by what you weighed at the start) and BMI. Doing the math will be good for us. I'll kick it off. Name............Lbs Lost........% of wgt lost.......BMI Foofy..............37.5..................14%.................38

I've recently visited my surgeon after two years. This time, he gave a different theory as to why the band is tighter in the morning. Maybe they are all theories and no one really knows for sure. What does your surgeon say or what do you think is the reason? Here's some of what I've heard. #1 is what I was told pre-surgery and #3 is what he told me this time. #2 is something I read on here. 1) When lying down, the Fluid in their body shifts ups and the stomach tissues swell causing the band to feel tighter. Once up and about, the fluid shifts down, the tissues becomes less swollen and the band fits more loosely. 2) Since nothing is going through the band overnight…

Hi all, Background: I was banded over two years ago. I had a total of five adjustments in the first few months and then I didn't go back to my surgeon until a little over a week ago. Over the two years between adjustments, I have maintained my initial loss, but hadn't lost any more weight. I was being non-compliant you might say. Eating what I could get past the band most of the time, trying to eat healthy, but failing a lot of the time. To be honest, I was more or less in mourning for losing my friend I had in food. If I tried to eat "healthier" food, I would often regurgitate it up as something would get stuck. My husband was tired of all my regurgitating - at le…

My name is Leah Davies I am 26 years old and i have been battling with my weight for my whole life,on august 20th 2010 i had the lapband procedure done at the slimband clinic in toronto the procedure was done by Dr. Pavi Kundhal. for the first 3 weeks i was on a strict liquid/soft pureed food diet then i was able to go to solid foods and i started having problems eating the very first day, the food would get stuck and this caused a great amount of pain and if i was lucky it would go down on its own after a few minutes but most of the time i had to bring the food back up in order to dislodge it. So the first time i contacted the Support staff at the Slimband clinic i was …

Hi All - I've been suffering from wicked, wicked, WICKED bronchitis since Thanksgiving. I swear, this has been the roughest virus I've ever had in my life. I've woken up every morning for the past week coughing over a sink and hacking up mucous. In the process, I dry heave because it tickles my gag reflex so much. Good news is I think it's at the tail end (please God, let it be so) since it's all coming out. But I'm worried because I do have a lap band... is it possible to "push" it out of place with dry heaving? Would I notice a difference if it did? I can't really control it at this point... it's just how my body is unfortunately reacting to getting the gunk out. I'…

I had the lap band surgery done just before I turned 17 and have had it for 2 and a half years. I found that after first getting it I could still eat the food I like just not as much of it and was dropping weight pretty fast. I notices I had to be a little more careful right after getting adjustments but apart from that I could still eat a healthy amount of food and feel no pain. The issue came when I got 2 cubic centimeters put in when I already had about 7 in so it was a big change and I couldn't eat for a few days so I drained my band and kept it empty until I started feeling better. I had an adjustment put in and after 6 months I still wasn't able to adjust to it so…

Hi Everybody, I'm relatively new on this posting thing. I am so so nervous and I'm thinking there is something that I may have forgotten to do or pack. I have gone over my pre-op to do list but still feel like I have left something off my list. I have the comfy clothes and shoes, my paperwork, my driver, removed nail polish from nails & toes, and my pillow for the long ride home. Any suggestions on what else I should have packed? Thanks!

Hey Gang... Today is my first day on puree food. Day13...lol. So... I figured it would be a good time to try and make a meal and enjoy some good. I made roast beef, mashed potatoes, and cream corn. I was out all day... so didn't really eat today. Was still doing the liquid diet. Boost, Water, coffee in the morning, blah, blah, blah. So anyway...I was so excited about this meal. Sat down and I think I forgot I had the lapband. Has a couple bites, didn't really think about it. Well all of a sudden, I get this feeling like something is stuck. Well... didn't the food get lodged. All the discussion groups I read about this. The stuck feeling. I wasn't expecting…

Hi. Banded 2008. Lost a bit but mainly just not put on any more. Joined some Facebook groups, now this today. Have learnt so much that was never told to me when I had my band! Amazing! I feel like I need to start again with fresh knowledge. Doing the 5 day pouch test from today and just watched the 8 golden rules vids. My band prob too tight if anything. I have learnt to eat easy stuff that slips down and regularly make myself sick when I've eaten too fast or the wrong thing...then carry on eating junk. I'm starting again with new eyes and fresh advice. Looking for someone to fill me in on modern thinking and to encourage each other when times are tough. Local is good, we…

My name is Clindy - I'm originally from Greencastle but now live in Columbus. Are you interested in positive support and fresh insights? I'm looking for people who don't want to make excuses and complain about the band. It's a tool, just like the scale. It's up to us to do the work, but if we get our heads in the right place, we can do this right and celebrate our successes. We can take each day step by step together- sharing struggles and finding answers - then moving forward. I am challenging myself to post every day and to get good daily habits forming. I hope you'll join me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Last night we had a Christmas party, of course there was drinking involved. I regret having to many but what I figured out is you can't throw up. I even tried making myself and (tmi) but just liquid ran out not even dry heave or anything. I don't feel like I messed my band up but is that normal to not be able to throw up? What if you get the flu or something gets stuck? PLEASE NO NASTY COMMENTS. I know I shouldn't be drinking like that. Lesson learned LapBand ~ November 1, 2016

I had lapband surgery in 2008, lost and then regained. I am holding steady at a loss of about 100 lbs. For the past couple of months I have been getting sick every time I eat except at dinner. I eat small portions though not always the healthiest meal. I drink Water and do have a Dr Pepper daily. Sometimes I even get sick on liquids. It is to the point that I wonder if I should have the saline removed and see if that helps. I have read several posts about erosion and other problems. I would greatly appreciate any input.

Hi all New to this forum but had band for three years. Been a bit of a roller coaster. Did well at first lost 65lb then had barium test to tight so they took some out. stay stableish slowly going up weight after that but know where near goal weight. Realised that I had wheat intolerance so cut that out think swelling from that was confusing issue so essentially gone from really tight to no restriction without fill. Don't think I ever experienced sweet spot. Anyway put on 14lb over summer arghh! Went back for fill last fri all this week been fine actually been grate felt like I finally hit sweet spott not hungry eating small portions and satisfied yay I thinks! …

So a few months ago I started regurgitating at night when I ate after 7pm. Went to see my doctor in May and he took all of the liquid 2.5 out my band and told me to wait a couple of months. I gained 15lbs!!! then went back for a fill in July 2016 for 1.75, and gained another 2lbs! Then went back for another fill in Aug.2016 to total 2.0 inside my band, now here I am in Oct 2016 and I've gained another 2lbs!!! And now my port area is sore I emailed my doctor and he said sometimes it gets sore if it's really close to the skin, but if it gets red he will have to see me and see what's going on. I've had my band since March of 2007 and never had any issues. Till now, …

Hello everyone I was banded yesterday. My first day was a little rough. The worst part was the has pain! I expected in my shoulder as everyone has talked a out that but mine was right in the middle of my chest and it hurt sooo bad to take a deep breath all day yesterday. That resolved for the most part over night. I am a side sleeper and sleeping on my back is painful due to an old back injury, so I had a nightmare trying to fall asleep last night and only ended up getting a couple of hours. I was given toradol for pain but it hasn't helped much with making me at all sleepy. I was hoping I'd experience what a lot of people seem to - that they wake up after surgery and…

Occassionally, I run across a few posts from people like me who have failed their bands. But these posts are usually just a venting opportunity. I have failed my band - I acknowledge it - and it would be great if we could have a group of other "failures" who want to work together to become success stories. MY STORY I was banded in March of 2007. At the time I was 299 lbs. I am a 6ft tall lady. Today, I weigh 255, and basically just as big as I was when I got my band. I have got numerous fills and I usually eat through my fiils. I can eat whatever I want. I overeat and I am confident that I have caused my stomach to expand. I snack on candy, I eat the wrong foods - I ea…

Or at least someone whos going for the same so we could text and talk about the process, share tips or even go to the gym together after.
