Has anyone had a successful conversion from an iband to a Gastric Sleeve? I had my band placed 4 years ago...have never lost much weight, lot of esophagus issues with spasms, can't seem to get me in the green zone. I have an appt.soon to discuss with my Bariatric Surgeon. I hope that my insurance (BCBS and Tricare) will pay to have it removed and pay the conversion. Your feedback is appreciated.

Sooooo I decided to make my own: made my decaf coffee, On the stove heat up almond milk and three packs of sweet n low after it gets nice and hot I would whisk the milk to make the foam.... Poor in a cup and coffee on top...... And equals yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lol best stuff ever Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello, I was banded in 2008 in Monterrey and was seeing Dr. Stephanie in Tyler for refills. Does anyone have any other suggestions for refills? I'm in Brenham and can easily get to Austin, Houston or Bryan/College Station. Dr. Garwood in B/CS is no longer doing them. Thanks for the help! Kim

So i was looking back at some of my favorite post over the past 7 years (when it was just lapband and we use to have fun) and came across this one from my good friend Knaroz.... Although funny.... very informative.... Posted January 24, 2012 - 1:00 AM #1I found this years ago, and while it sounds crazy, I always listen to what it says lol. 1. Thou shalt consume thy Protein first, followed by thy veggies and fruits. If thou, then hast any room left thou shalt comsume thy carbs lastly! 2. Thou shalt take the tiniest of bites, placing thy fork and thy spoon upon thine table, that thou shalt have more time between bites to savor that which thou hast eaten, and allow …

After an insanely long period of undoing most of my good work with the band, I went in to my practice in July for a fill. It's worked well since in terms of signaling when I've eaten enough. solid food is easy, but liquids go down hard whether cold, tepid or hot. I seem to be feeling more uncomfortable lately than I did in July and think a slight unfill would be wise. I'm hesitating, though, because I'm pleased with the food signals with the amount of saline I have now. Question before I make an appointment, Has anyone experienced the same difficulty and, if so, how much/little did you have taken out so that you could drink without being unhappy? I'm wondering if …

I had my band put on in July of 2005. Did very well that first year, and lost 93 lbs...The next 2 yrs, I stayed the same, but the last 2 yrs I have started to gain again..... I found out my fill is fine, but my pouch has stretched out to twice its normal size, and can hold 2 cups now without pain or fullness feeling at all.. Dr. unfilled the band, and put me on 2 weeks of lig diet, so pouch would get smaller before refilling... I am still hungery after eating and never feel full, but when I eat certain foods, I will still slime and have PB's.... Any one else haveing this problem???? I have regained a little over 20 lbs and really need help!!!!

I was banded in 2008 and have lost about 50 pounds. I kept feeling that my band was too tight about two years ago and had 1 cc removed. I got better (no more heartburn, pain in sternum, shoulder pain). I was too scared to have more put back in but did about 1 1/2 years ago. It was fine until one year ago and I had the same symptoms. I had 1 cc removed. It got better again. Then about two months ago my ears would ring on and off and my left arm would go numb. I had my heart check and it was fine. Then, about three weeks ago, I was so dizzy. My neck felt like it was twice the size (it wasn't), my ears were "full", I had an extreme headache, and then got vertigo. …

I've been having great progress since my surgery in May, but I'm my last bloodwork they discovered that I'm now showing signs that suggest Hypoparathyroidism, they told me to take some calcium. Which I have begun, their only other instructions were that they would monitor it and keep an eye on that. Just wondering if its something to be concerned about, or am i blowing it out of proportion? Hi everyone. Banded 7/29/16 First fill 9/16/16 (4cc's) Just found out today I need my gallbladder out. I know this is a known post surgical complication for some people...but this seems like it came on so soon after surgery. Has anyone else had to have it removed so soon after surgery? I'm just trying to see if it's common or maybe something else is going on with my gallbladder. I could've sworn they checked it in preop and it was fine but maybe they didn't check it. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/09/26/bariatric-surgery-the-solution-to-obesity?mbid=social_facebook Anyone else read this article? I thought it presented a balanced and readable overview on the history of surgical procedures to combat obesity, as well current research findings. It's also cool that a magazine as respected as the New Yorker is writing about this.

I don't know if anyone goes in here anymore, but I would really like to get a group of people in Tucson to go exercise or something. I think it would also be great because it would be like a good support group, too. We could do a hike or walk or go on a bike ride or something. Would anybody be game to do something like that?

Hi everyone, I've been a frequent lurker, but I have not interacted on the boards. I now find myself in a position that I'm unsure about and could use some feedback. I was banded in 2008. I haven't had any problems until semi recently. Two weeks ago all of the fluid was taken out of my band because I started having bad heartburn while I was sick with a summer cold. Oddly enough, this was just a little over a week after seeing my Lap Band doc and being advised to consider revision to either sleeve or gastric bypass due to not really seeing much in results. My surgery weight was 258. My lowest weight was 221. Current weight is 247. Anyway, since having all of the fluid …

In the past year, my cholesterol has dropped 34 points, my triglycerides plunged a whopping 114 points, my blood sugar dropped 6 points, and my blood pressure is 120/75. I got rid of 10 pounds of fat in the past 3 months and 2 inches are GONE from my waist. My pants that were once my sausage pants (you know, so tight basically like sausage casings for your thighs) are loose and comfortable. My shirts are getting baggy and my bra doesn't fill up like it used to. I am loving my lap band

Hi, I've had my band for almost 4 years. I lost about 50 lbs total and I have gained back 30 of that. I got pregnant 6 months after my band and did fine throughout my pregnancy. I even breastfeed my son for a year afterward. I really think that breastfeeding boosted my weight loss. I had some problems and my band slipped and I have had nothing but trouble ever since. I go for a fill and its too much and i have to get it unfilled and gain weight. I'm seriously thinking about getting a revision to the sleeve. Any pointers? I feel like such a loser, but I so tired of being overweight. I feel like this is my best option. I really am at a point that I hate my band.

Hey Lap Banders! Wondering if anyone might know how to get a hold of Ashley "thebandinme" from YouTube? She hasn't made any videos in years, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get hold of her on YouTube, but I'm hoping that someone might know her personally or still keep in touch with her? I need to contact her about a story that was written about her that she should be aware of. I'd REALLY appreciate it if someone could ask her to get in touch with me! Email: info@divataunia.com. If emails don't come through on here (not sure), please direct her to the contact page on my website at www.divataunia.com. Many thanks!

I am six years post-surgery, 66 years old now, in overall good health, all labs etc still well within normal limits, good energy level. My problem is that after pre-lapband weight of 305, and 18-months out was down to 229 lbs. Since then I slowly went back to 260# and have been stuck there +/- 5 lbs for three years now. MY problem is that I have a "small" band with 3 cc's in it, but any solids larger than a very small pea get stuck. Even shakes or smoothies that are too thick will get stuck... and sometimes come back up. It is very frustrating to be restricted to eating only solids that are nearly pureed. Another issue to whine about is that I have dentures, which n…

I had my lapband of 12 years removed 5 days ago. It was much more painful then expected. Instead of 4 incisions as planned I ended up with 7. I had a hernia repair. The lapband was placed a bit higher then it should have been. My stomach was adhered to my liver with scar tissue. I'm still very distended and in a lot of pain from surgery. I am going to get either the sleeve or bypass in late December. Does anyone have any suggestions for the next 3 months to help me better prepare for surgery? I did not know that I would be in this amount of pain. Is getting the sleeve or bypass just as painful? The lapband wasn't even as close. I want to make the most of my 3months til su…

Hi everyone, I was banded in July and have only lost 10 pounds, most of which was from the liquid diet. I've had a full but can still eat lots of food. I'm making better choices, eating smaller portions and protein and have really back cut back on sweets. I go four hours between meals and I do not snack. Any other suggestions? Hi!! I'm writing today because as of now I am 5.4 cc full in my band. (The doctor tried to add 1 cc to get me to 6 but I couldn't swallow water) but I am feeing okay, yesterday was all liquids which was fine and now today I just tried to eat a boneless chicken wing... I am doing great! I am in the green zone. Have pretty much reached my initial goal. I don't want anymore fills and I actually don't want to loose any more weight until after my daughter's wedding. My dress fits perfectly and I'd like to avoid paying for more alterations. So my question is Now What? How do I maintain? As long as I'm doing well, don't need any fills and am not having any problems, do I need to go back to my doctor's office. Do I just go about my life and call them if needed? I never really believed I would get to this stage.

Today I had a NSV. At work (a popular gym) it was pizza night ( don't get me started on that), and I didn't have one peice not even a BITE and for the most part I wasn't even tempted. I ate my lunch and drank my Water. At one point I walked over to the boxes and even opened it up and I was strong enough to say no. I've also been doing really well with my eating. Side note: anyone else who was told to swallow and wait 60 seconds to take another bite? I've been using the stop watch on my phone and find it helps me a lot! I had my gastric bypass surgery in December 2008. My beginning weight was 254 pounds. I got all the way down to 170 pounds. In 2012 I noticed the weight starting to creep up on me. I tried every diet and nothing helped so I decided to go and get the band placed over my bypass. The band was installed on April 29, 2016. And here we are in September and I haven't lost 1 pound and I've had three fills. When I told the doctor he told me, at least I haven't gained. I'm starting to get discouraged please help with any suggestions you may have or any success story you may have. I don't see any forms that talk about people who have had gastric bypass and the band placed over it. …
