Hello, Today I am 3 months post op with lap band, I've lost around 44 pounds and the past month, I am just stuck! I've exercised, had Protein intake up to 100g. Does anyone have an suggestions? I thought maybe I need a fill, I have an appointment at the end of May. I'm getting really discouraged with not losing though. I was going to go back to shakes every day for every meal and see if that helps? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. I'm 5'7" and weigh 242lbs. I haven't been under 200lbs in about 7 years...even then, it only lasted a few months. In high school, I was about 170 for the most part. I've never been a "normal" weight (based on BMI). When I first started planning for all of this, I thought 170 would be a good target weight...then I thought 165...maybe 160. Even at 160, though, I'd be "overweight." by BMI standards. How did you decide on your target weight? Granted, just getting under 200lbs is my primary goal, but I can't even fathom being 155lbs (and thus have a BMI under 25). How did you decide on a target weight for yourself?

Hi there. I am 9 months post gastric band. It's all gone well till last week. I had three glasses of wine. Woke up next day in terrible stomach pain... And got major food blockage. Iced up and reverted to liquids and now two days later cannot keep real food down. Just regurgitated Water now. Everything seems stuck. I eat two bites and that's it I feel full instantly. Is my band too tight? I just moved to new country and have yet to org a specialist to support me. Any advice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh and yes... 6. So I have done exceptionally well in the past with my weight loss. I was banded in May 2010 and proceeded to lose about 120 pounds. I was eating right, exercising minimum 5 days a week. I even ran a 10K! Then last January I got a bad ankle injury and was in a boot for 3 months and then had to go to Physical Therapy for another 3 months. My exercise took a huge hit and that one injury completely derailed me .... physically and emotionally! I ended up getting depressed and gained 20 pounds last year and I am PISSED at myself! So here I am, a year later, still clawing my way to find my motivation and get back on track. Its funny how I KNOW what I have to do but end up doin…

Hi, I had nachos last night at a ballgame--had a few jalapenos. A few hours later my stomach really hurt. Still hurts this morning. Think it's because it took the jalapenos a while to pass through the band? Seems like my Protein bar even irritated my stomach today. I've taken a few rolaids and it IS better. Any thing out there that you all avoid like that?

  8. Super excited, no wait, scared, no, I think nervous...Okay all of the above and then some. My emotions are all over the place. I start my pre-op diet on Jan. 2nd. and will be banded on Jan. 15th. Looking for friends to chat with and that understand what I am going through. I have supportive family and friends but they don't really understand. I am sure they are pretty sick of hearing about it anyway. I have two days left of eating the "old" way. I feel like I am freaking out wondering what all i need to eat before the two days is up. Did/does anyone else feel this way? Thanks!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to see if anyone else has found out they're band intolerant? I've been having really bad bouts of constantly vomiting for awhile, and it has gotten to the point I'm vomiting up white mucus and blood clots. I went to my doctor's office that did the surgery, and they checked the band to see if it slipped, and it hadn't. So then 2 weeks later I had an upper endo by the same doctor. The procedure he said only took 4 minutes, and the band hadn't eroded. So it hasn't slipped, or eroded, however, I have all the symptoms that would make you think so. I can't hold down majority of solids now, and liquids are questionable. My band is completely unfille…

Hello everyone! I'm now 6 days banded and getting back to normal life at home. I really wanted the gastric sleeve but couldn't afford it, and my mentality around my weight was getting obsessive so I wanted something done immediately. My insides feel really tight, and if I even drink Water too fast I feel close to being sick, but I guess that means it's working. I have one tiny problem - I already think I can see a loss in my face, but the scales aren't showing any loss. Did this happen to anyone? I thought you got a big loss in week one, but not so far. Should I be happy to see a loss rather than see a number on a scale? Many thanks xx

I had lap band and port removed on 8/10/15 due to complications from prolapse and then slip 9 months later, all which had cause me to vomit everything I ate. I had lap band for 4 years. Lost 80 pounds. Since removal, I have had NO reflux or heartburn which has been amazing. I haven't had much of an appetite and have had pain at the port site, but pain has improved every day. I had gained 8 pounds due to surgery, but have lost 7 pounds over night last night. I am now on a soft food diet until my post op appt and have been logging my calories on fitness pal and using my Vivosmart activity tracker. Over this past weekend, I experienced more pain than I've ever felt. Turns out it was gall stones. (Now thinking back, I think I attibuted a couple attacks of my gall stones to the band.) Now I'm up for surgery in the next couple weeks and I'm nervous about it. I knew that the chances are higher with rapid weight loss. Perhaps I should have had more water! It's been 5 months since the surgery (in Sept) and I'm wondering if anyone else has had gall bladder attacks and/or stones?

I was banded in Sept 2012. In July 2014 I had an episode and was hospitalized and since that time I have and numbness, fatigue and burning in my left arm and leg and when really bad extends to my right side. I have been tested for Lyme twice, two sets of MRIs, CAT scan and blood tests and I have no answers. Doctors chalk it up to being in my head...... Wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and if they have received a diagnosis. I have young kids and cannot keep up with them. This has been going on for almost two years. 22. I was banded in January 2014. Everything was going great up until about 9 months ago. I has .2 cc of Fluid added and I would have days of feeling very tight, then days of ok. I went back to the surgeon and he took .5cc out about 3 months ago.. I was ok, until a week ago. Now for no reason at all everything is getting stuck. My rings are loose and I don't feel swollen. I have been tested for the band placement, nothing has moved. Does anyone know what is causing this? How can you go from eating everything ok to extreme tight without an adjustment?

Hi I am Maryann . I live on Long Island in NY. I had surgery in 2004. I started at 225 pounds and got down to 160 but now am back up to 178. I never really gave it my all; always tried to "play with the system" so I never really developed good habits. I have tried other diets since surgery (such as WW, etc) which resulted in weight loss but always gained it back. I have recently been not feeling well with burning and tightness in my chest and throat. I went to the Dr and we discovered a pouch has formed above the band and food/drink is sitting in there for awhile and not passing right thru the band. I want to avoid surgery if possible so I am on liquid diet for…

  28. Please help it is night here. Today I had my second fill & felt fine. I ordered a takeaway hot Mocha with low fat milk. Nearing the end I swollowed a amount of thick gluggy chocolate. Some time later my chest became tight & i had to be sick however nothing came up only thick saliva. I can hardly keep Fluid down & its been about 7 hours. It goes in cycles when fluid stays down or it doesnt. Could it be that i am very swollen ? It seems unusual if there would be too much fluid as its only 2nd fill and i was fine until the mocha drink. Its night time here now. My chest is not tight as i am not drinking atm. please help thanks

Gained back some of the weight and now just feeling like I need some sort of support from those that my be experiencing the same. My band is filled to about 8cc and feels good with no issues. I do feel the restriction when I eat and drink Water. I think I just need to work out but do not feel motivated. I am starting to eat healthier and using green drinks to detox myself. Any suggestions on how I can pep myself up and what foods I can eat to get myself back on track. I am good with fish and some chicken but not into meat. Thank you! Teresa

I am a 10 year lap band patient. I don't know what is wrong with me. I have learned hiw to "out-eat" my band, and my eating is so out of control. For the first 8 years or so, I kept my band super tight, where I could only eat a few bites or I'd vomit. That was 50 lbs ago. As long, as I couldn't eat, I could have a few bites of ANYTHING. But, then, I developed problems. Dialated esophagus, surgical hernia at my lap band site, reflux and pain. They took 1/2 the fluid out of my band, and here I am...50 lbs. FATTER. I feel like a giant failure.

I want to say right off, that I am not writing this to scare anyone at all. I am writing my personal experience and would like to share that so that in case others have this test, they may be better prepared. Everyone may experience this differently. This is informational. I had lap band placed back in Nov 2011, started having problems with reflux in November 2014. I went to my surgeon and he ordered an upper GI and esophageal manometry to rule out slip, or prolapse and to figure out why my food kept coming back up. I even had food that would come up 3 days later!!!! The reason for an esophageal manometry is to show how bad the reflux is and they also measure pressure…
