  5. I told my job and some family I was having surgery on my foot LOL> BUT soooo glad I did. Its a slow proces and even the one cousin I told who thankfully hasnt told anybody else (that I know of!!!) looks me up and down every time she sees me and says stuff like "you didnt lose that much weight yet". Its crazy but weight issues bring out alot in people. Id keep it to myself if I were you. Peaople try to sabotage and say negative things. And besides at the end of the day its yur body and yu have to do the work !! Good luck.
  6. I was banded on May 10, 2012 and have lost 21 lbs. I was hoping it would be more but just remembering to take it slow. Havent even started working out yet--joined the gym today!

  8. Thanks for sharing I think I missed it though.
  9. OMG> What a great topic. I was banded May 10th and told exacty fur people: My daughter, my brother, my cousin and a close friend from college who lives in another state. Im not ashamed but like someone said here I dont want o have to constantly discuss my weight challenges. I already put enough pressure and criticism on myself (im working on this) and dont need it from others. That said...I went to my first post op appt today and there was 1st a group of people there to go over eating and nutrition tips. This was before your individual appt with the doctor. OMG there was a woman there that lived in my building. She was talking loud in the waiting area about having the gastric sleeve a few days ago and how she has been doing. So when they called my name I stopped and spoke to her briefly (even though I didnt want to. I was there to see my doctor not for social hour. Geez.) Asked her how she was feeling and all. She was friendly and said she was fine just a little weak. She asked me what I was getting and I told her I was "CONSIDERING" lap band (although I have already been banded.) I hated that I lied but im just.. the last thing I want is for everyone in my building (I only have one real friend in the building everyone else Im friendly and polite with but we dont really socialize ) and I havent told her and dont intend to. (Shes very judgemental and I dont want or need her opinion). Anyway, I saw the nurse and got weighed (Ive lost 16lbs!!) but did not go to the group meeting. I actually rescheduled for Friday and am tempted to call the dr office and ask that I not be scheduled along with this woman from my building. I know it sounds crazy and it probly is but I dont want to have to deal with this person everytime I see my doctor. What the hell!!?? I feel like its an invasion of my privacy. What should I do???
  10. Im 2 weeks post op and was feeling guilty about just relaxing. I do walk and run errands but was going to start the gym again tmrw. But now I think I'll wait a bit until I see my dr next week. I feel great no pain no meds but I can feel my port area and my incisions still have some of the "derma glue" on them. I will take it easy. Thanks guys!
  11. mmm...thanks! I have been making vegetable soup with tofu, letitng the veggies (leeks, mushrooms, squash) cook really long to get soft and of course the tofu is soft. But I have more tofu and was wondering what to do. I'll grill it on my george forman grill!! Great idea. Yummy.
  12. I was banded on the 10th about 2 weeks ago. Lost fifteen pounds too. Now Im on mushies and actually had ice cream yesterday (it was my grandmas93 bday). It was only half cup and it went down fine and I ralized that just because I have this band this tool I have to make good choices. I didnt beat myself abt it bcause I enjoyed it but still i (we) have to watch it. I advise you to not beat urself up, try not to get depressed and make better choices: fruit, jello, lowfat yogurt, etc. If yu made a few poor choices dont sweat it and do better next time. You got the band for a reason so its going to be a process and a re-learning in regards to food choices and you relationship to food. Good luck!!
  13. I didnt tell ANY of my friends except the ones that live in other states. Dont need people judjing me or giving me their opinions. Still I think you should stop beating yourself up. There is no perfect cure for anything and yes there will be good days and band days. But remebr how far yu have come. 45 lbs is a big deal and 10 weeks ago you were heavier. So yipee. Keep up the good work. If your eating too much you may be ready for a fill. Also as you change you may need to change your activities. Try something new! Maybe you'll meet some new people who are not judging you. Good luck!
  14. Hi wondering what if anything yu used for your scars. I was banded 7 days ago and still have the derma glue over my incisions but know there will be scars, what can I use to get rid of them??
  15. Good luck ladies i was banded 7 days ago and am recovering fine. Congrats on your decision and let us know how it goes!!
  16. I hope ur feeling better!! I am recently banded (7 days in!!) and my Dr. told me to expect emotions to fluctuate as I lose weight. he said this is because fat holds hormones and as we lose weight our hormones will be all over the pace!! Just wanted to mention that to you as maybe this is the issue since you are a new bandster. Try to keep things in perspective if you can and find ways to de-stress like spending some alone time or getting a massage or even just vegging out with a movie or a magazine if you can. Good luck and hang in there. This tooo shall pass.
  17. Try to sleep a bit but be sure you have all u need for the hospital. I was banded last Thursday and was nervous too--but I packed a small bag, made sure my apt was clean, laundry done, creditcards and insurance cards in purse, took a long hot bath (which you wont be able to do for a few weeks post op due to the incisions) put on some comfy pj's and orderd a movie (to get my mind off being worried)> Everything went well the next day. There will be pain and there will be gas and discomfort but if everything goes well you will be fine!! Check back in with us and let us know how it goes!!
  18. I was banded May 10th!! Im so glad everythign went well. Im recovering resting reflecting and looking forward to the summer where I can eat fruits and veggies and lose weight!!! Im excited hope ur too.
