I'd love to start this thread going. I attend OA meetings and the support, honesty, and peace I find is critical for me. I am parenting myself, putting my needs first, validating my inmost feelings; the ones I thought were only mine to bear. I thought it was all mumbo-jumbo...I realize now how complex my relationship with myself, food, and emotions really is. I also realize WLS is only a small part of my overall journey. Is there anyone else who is interested in keeping in touch?

How is everyone doing? I've done pretty well so far, I think. Down 23 pounds as of this morning and looking forward to my first fill on Thursday. That will be 6 weeks post-op. Has anyone had any troubles so far? I haven't found any foods that make me throw-up yet. I find it hard to eat slow, so I am hoping I can slow down a little more after my fill. All in all, I am happy with my decision so far.

If you are thinking about getting the lap-band, it's a big decision and one you need to think about carefully. I wish I had done more research before I got mine and perhaps I would have gone somewhere other than Slimband. There's so much going on at Slimband that it's scary. It's a company that just wants your money. Once your payments clear, they'll drop you. It's happened to lots of us already. They will actually refer to you as a client because that's all you are to them. They are also very secretive which means you can't have any trust in them in terms of the care you will get post-surgery. If you ask questions you will likely go ignored for a long time. Th…

I had 3 incisions from my surgery almost 4 weeks ago. The smallest one is near my navel and is almost gone. The mid sized one feels harder that the surrounding skin but visually it should fade over time. My largest incision for the port however, has developed into a keloid scar; it is hard, raised, pink, and shiny. Have you developed a keloid scar on your incisions, and if so, do you have keloid scars not related to the surgery?

Well I went to the Dr. Today because I thought I needed a fill but low and behold after the esophogram it appears I have a dilation not slip. So he emptied about 1.5cc out and I'm going to do liquids for a few days. My question to you all is..,will this work? Will I go back to normal again? I'm scared about needed another surgery but also scared to be without my band. Anyone been in my shoes? Thanks

Just a few words of encouragement not to give up if you happen to gain weight one week...last week i gained 1 and 1/2 lb and I was so disappointed in myself, that id stuck to my healthy eating and doing everything by the book yet I'd still put weight on. I beat myself up mentally pretty bad and my first instinct was to go eat all the bad food i could find, luckily i didn't,instead i stuck to what I was doing, and in my weigh in this week I had lost 4lb! So,if you find you happen to gain at one time or another, keep going, keep doing what your doing and have faith, ????????

My name is kim and I've had lapband since June 3rd 2011. In my first year I lost 75lbs. 2nd year, I had complications. The lapband became too small, I had the size 10 cc band. With it completely empty I couldn't swallow. My old surgeon kept saying the band was fine, I needed to change my eating habits. I knew I was doing all I could, so I seen another dr, my current dr. He said the band was too small, so I had a size 14cc Band placed December 8th 2013. To be honest, it's been amazing to just enjoy food and life. TWO years later, I'm ready to get back on track. Apparently the surgeon who will be removing my lap band is the best one at Kaiser. Regardless if he’s good, I thought he was an a*****e. I felt belittled by his answers and although I could go for a second opinion I know I’m going to need to get the lap band removed regardless. I feel like I have turned a corner and am confident that I am well and truly getting back on track. To help with my confidence, I'm doing a little 'Throwback Thursday' and showing you a pic comparison. The pic on the left was taken at a corporate photo shoot not long before my surgery in 2014 and the pic on the right was taken this morning... Even though I haven't lost so much weight in the last few months, the evidence of what I have lost is clear - need to remind myself of that every so often. …

The doctor wants me to have 30 grams of carbs (or less) so I set that number at 15% and MFP set my daily calories to 800. Then I get a message that I'm eating too few calories. Long story short: I was banded about 11 years ago, lap band slipped, I was scheduled for removal. My original surgeon had moved to CA, so I went through Northwestern Hospital. 31. Hi all, I was banded in October of 2015. My weight loss has been pretty slow but it's not necessarily due to me "trying" really hard and doing all of the right things. I'm just having a really hard time finding high Protein foods I can eat easily since my second fill around 4 weeks ago. I like that I'm feeling restriction and maybe I just have to eat smaller bites, take a longer time and chew a lot more but there are foods I already stay away from. I don't want to grow sick and tired of certain foods but right now I find myself gravitating towards grits (I'm a US southern girl) with cheese (for protein), instant potatoes with cheese (also for protein), Cereal with…

They have faded slightly but still very noticeable (especially the larger ones) if I was to take my shirt off at the pool. My surgeon ended up using staples because the skin was pulling to much which I think made it that much worse since I also have staple holes along side the incisions.
