Hi all, I had a fill today. First in 2 years. Apparently I have a 10ml ring and I'm at 6ml today. Came home, had some drinking yogurt. Took me about 30 mins to drink 150ml, tried coffee a while later, not much luck. My esophagus has a bubbly sensation and is making funny noises. Will this go away? Will die of embarrassment in public. Dreading solids if this is how I react to liquids. Doc is so far. Only three in the country Sent from my SM-G925F using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone- another bandster suggested I try hoodia, and I was wondering if anyone had tried it? In doing some internet research they suggested there's a lot of fake product- does anyone have a particular brand they tried and seems to work? Or where to buy it? Any input is great and much appreciated- positive and negative. Thanks- Nickio

I had a full yesterday after 2 years of being on 4ml. I am now on 6ml. I got home and had a bit of yogurt and coffee. Took almost an hour. All was fine except for my noisy esophagus. This morning I was OK, had some coffee sipping very slowly. Ever since I had the worst chest pain ever. Even struggling to breathe. I was sliming like crazy. Couldn't take the pain so I went to my GP to take out a ml. GP couldn't help as he did not have a "huber needle". I eventually burped and all was well. I had a few sips of milk as I haven't eaten in 24 hours. Barely took 2 sips before the pain returned. It's the worst pain and I surely can't live with it. So is the tight …

Hello All, I had band slippage about a year ago now. At the time all fluid was removed and luckily things fell back in place but over the course of the year I regained about 50lbs due to my surgeon being concerned about a reoccurrence; which I have to agree with. I am back up to a pretty good fill level and have stopped and started to reverse the weight gain but have to admit it really got me down. Overall I started at 545lbs (ouch) and reached a low of 269lbs and felt outstanding. Due to my work am overseas all the time and not with my family so support is not readily available. guess I am venting a bit but is there anyone else out there that has faced a similar …

Hi. I've had 3 or 4 fills and I believe I am at 5 or 6 cc now. Since my fill last month I have had some scary experiences. I felt a searing pain in my esophagus and the need to throw up but couldn't. I have always had problems throwing up. I even tried to stick my fingers down my throat and that didn't help. I'm pretty sure each event was triggered by eating too big of a bite and/or too fast. Is this normal?

I was banded on 9/19/07. A red-letter day. Since then I've had ups and downs on the scale and in medical issues, but I've never regretted having WLS. It turned my life - and my head - around. Except that... After about a year of stable weight, I've been alarmed at gaining 5 pounds in the past month. That is such a puny number compared to my weight gains in the past that I'm embarrassed to admit it, but just 5 pounds freaks me out. It makes me want to smash my scale with a sledge hammer, if only I could find one. And perhaps that lack is a good thing. Knowing me, I'd smash my scale, my foot, and the porcelain tile in the bathroom, at a high cost all 'round. I've lo…

I had posted on another forum, but also now posting here to see if anyone else can share their experience or interested in chatting regarding this issue. How long did it take to get back to a point where you were losing weight again?? I have had to have a complete unfill (due to major restriction and complications) and have since gained 25lbs in the last two months. I am now close to where I was before I had the unfill (previously at 5.6 and now at 5.0) and while I feel closer to 'green' I know i am not quite there. I go for another fill next week and will reach the max capacity my surgeon wants me at (5.5) since the episode. I am trying to eat the right foods, lot…

Hello, this is my first time posting on BP. I am 48 years old and had my lapband in 2008. I lost almost 100 lbs over the span of a year. I kept it off for 4 years. In April of 2012 my 8 month old grandson was killed (homocide) and it really sent me into a downward spiral. I was so busy with court and keeping my family from falling to pieces that I got lost somewhere in the shuffle. I really have gotten off track and don't know how to find my way back. I pray, take my antidepressants and have finally gotten to a fairly good place emotionally. However I look in the mirror and am disgusted by all of my hard work and lifestyle change being wasted. I have an appointment for Ap…

March 24 will be 3 weeks post-op and I am ready for a fill. Not scheduled until April 14. Once the swelling goes down and everything heals up from the surgery, the appetite comes back and maintaining portion sizes is a lot harder. Plus I am tempted again by non-healthy choices. I was scheduled to start solid food tomorrow, but mush wasn't cutting it, so I started a little solid food over the weekend. So far everything is going down just fine. How is everyone else doing?

Soooo... I'm 4 months post op (11/04/15) and although per my nutritionist and surgeon I'm cleared to eat regular textures, I can't. I'm so frustrated with eating and chewing everything till mush. I haven't had a hot meal since I got banded. By the time I chew something up my food is cold and is even less appetizing. I'm so restricted it's depressing. Everything gets stuck . Big or small, liquid or solid...it gets stuck. My band is empty. I've never been adjusted. ..no need. I'm restricted just with the band placement. A meal should be between 4-6 oz but I'm stuck at about 2. I can keep fluids down but it takes forever to eat or drink anything. I saw my surgeon and he …

I had my lap band surgery 2/20/15. I did well at first but never felt I was in the green zone completely. I think after about the first 6 weeeks I just knew what I was supposed to eat and made myself stick to it. I've never really had the feeling I couldn't eat any more and I rarely do I go more than 3 hours without getting hungry. I've lost about 45 lbs but have been stuck for over 2 months now. I am maintaining my weight. I have had at least 11 fills. My nurse doesn't want to fill it too fast. Last time she put in 1/2 cc which is a lot for her. I really am feeling more but still don't have that feeling I expected to feel. Kinda of like when I first got the band. I miss …

Hi everyone I everyone. I am four days in to my lap band journey and have noticed that the area where the port is located is extremely large. I am only 210lb now (dropped nearly 20 already since preop diet) but I am worried that I will have a huge swelling under my left rib forever. Is this normal or will it become less pronounced as the swelling goes down. Can anybody tell me what happened with yours please? I'm very worried about it. Thank you

Hello Would people be so kind to share band adjustment experiences with me. My first adjustment was 2ml and i didnt feel any restriction. My second fill was 1ml. That afternoon and following day I couldnt keep down Water and had .7ml taken out. I could drink water straight after. Two days later after 48 hours on liquids I could only keep down small amounts of liquid and no soft foods. So another adjustment to have Fluid removed. Not from my specialist as he was doing surgery. The lady said i had 4.6ml in my band. The numbers didnt add up with two adjustments totalling 3ml. So I had a further .3ml taken out. Had a drink of water and I was still too tight. Another .…

My daughter had a lap band done in 2008 when she was a 21 year old student on our insurance. Last month, she was visiting Scotland and got really sick. At the hospital in Scotland they did tests that showed her band had slipped and she was totally blocked. That 2/3 of her stomach had slipped up over the top of the band and they told her she had to have it out immediately. The did laproscopic and could not safely take it out that way. So they just cut it in half. They also cut the tube leading to her port. She was told that when she got home to the US she had to have it removed. She has been having horrible pains where the tube to the port is now poking her in the side. Sh…

I've just recently started getting fills and thought I was maybe at the right amount but decided to go and get it just .25 more....and now I'm starting to worry. This was about 2 hours ago, so please forgive my impatience, but I can't keep any liquids down. Milk is literally curdling and coming back up. Do I go back and get some out right away or do I have patience and see if this is just a fluke or maybe inflammation? Any suggestions or pointers from all would be greatly appreciated! I have not had a fill in a couple of years. I have gained 15-20lbs of the weight I've lost back and I need to get back on track. I got my last fill at Forest Park Medical Center and I called to make an appointment and found out they are not in business anymore. I'm actually in shock with everything I'm reading about them. Wow! Anyway....I'm looking for a place in the Dallas area that offer fills that are not too expensive and maybe some classes to brush up on my rules/guidelines to lapband lifestyle. Can anyone assist me in my search? Thanks in advance!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello friends! So I've had my band for 5 years. Just recently (within the past 6 months) I got Fluid out of my band and then went on a binge for eating whatever I wanted, gained 40 pounds. But believe me it felt good to eat carbs again. Now i'm back to my normal fluid with my normal portions with the lapband but now my husband and I are wanting to get pregnant, so naturally I stopped my birthcontrol and here we are waiting. My doctor says she's fine with me having fluid in my band but we will have to be careful that I continue to get baby and me the right nutrition. Have any of you done pregnancy with fluid in your band? Let me know!

My band has to come out this Tuesday. Had endoscopy this week and was shocked to learn that my band has eroded into my stomach. The pics are ugly and scary. I didn't have any signs other than could eat more and fills weren't helping. My doc took a barium swallow and suggested that I have an upper endoscopy. The pics show this nasty black band (yes, it looks black not white!) in my stomach. The area nearby is also leaning more toward red than pink and the Gastroenterologist said I have gastritis and esophagitis too. Anywho I am a bit sad about it, but really just want the ugly black thing taken out. My surgeon said I will be in hospital from Tuesday morning until F…

Hello, My band eroded, and I had to have it removed in October. Things didn't go to well in recovery, and I ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks. The hole in my stomach popped open while I was in there, I bled out and had to have a 4 unit blood transfusion and a second surgery to re-close the hole in my stomach. In all, I was off work for 7 weeks. I'm back on solid foods now, and back to work. The problem is I still experience diarrhea almost every day. My PCP seemed to think it was due to percocet withdrawals(had my last pain pill a week ago), but I've read up and think it's more likely related to gastric dumping syndrome. I take Imodium AD per my doctor's instructio…

Had my band out in June and I am still having difficulty swallowing protein such as meat, chicken, turkey and fish. This was the reason I was de-banded in the first place. After a call to my gastroenterologist yesterday, he said he spoke to a few associates who do the band and this is a very common problem. Many of the people who have problem swallowing with the band will still have it post band removal as well. He asked whether I had difficulty swallowing pre-band and I said "no". He is hoping that my ability to swallow will be restored within the next few months. If it is not we will have to look into it. News regarding Jenny Craig. I am formally off Jenny and they won…

I was banded July 2014. I had steady weight loss and lost 45 lbs the first year. Since last year my weight has went yp and down 20 lbs. I journal, exercise, watch my carbs, had a fill 2 months ago. No complications. I eat at least 60g of solid protein. I have changed my workouts to a little more intense. I am frustrated because this was the last resort for me. Hello!! I will be getting banded on April 7th and was never told by the PA or anyone at the doctor office I had to quit smoking, luckily I did a little research on smoking and read that you MUST quit smoking before surgery. I quit smoking yesterday 3-13-16 but am nervous. I usually smoke 1-2 cigs a day just after a stressful day of work. On the weekends when I have a few drinks I usually have a few more. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy smoker. Do y'all think I will be ok?? Anyone with similar situation!?!? I also didn't know how soon I had to stop drinking I know when I do my two week pre op, but is it not safe to have a few glasses of wine before that? Thanks!!!!

So I just had a baby 4 months ago. Breastfeeding is going well but is not helping me lose weight. I'm actually up to what I weighed when I was 41 weeks pregnant. (250 lbs) I'm contemplating getting a fill when my son is 6 months because I will be in the same city as my lap band doctor anyway. I always tell people NOT to do this because cutting calories can kill your breast milk supply. I'm just feeling fat and desperate at this time. I asked my husband what he thought and he said I get stuck all the time right now and he doesn't think I need a fill at all. I think I'm getting stuck a lot because I can eat large meals and not be satisfied so I've basically gone back to t…

Hi everyone! I'm new here! I had a lap band done about 5 years ago. At first everything was great! The band was working, and I never had any problems with it! I occasionally got stuck, but I was always able to move the blockage by walking and or drinking something. Anyways, about 3 years ago I woke up very ill. I was vomiting pretty badly. Turns out my gallbladder had to go. I had the necessary surgical procedure and it was removed. Ever since then it has been terrible. Since then I've had random stomach aches, acid reflux, and nausea. Through patience, ginger tea, tums, and crackers I was able to deal with it. Then everything got bad. The reflux was bad. I couldn'…

I'm getting my band out on Dec 22 due to having complications. I ended up going to a different bariatric doctor because the doctor who placed the band never un-fill me when I would see him. I had constant acid reflux for a couple of years, no matter what time of the day it was and whether I ate or not. I complained to my primary care doctor and he gave me Nexium. That still didn't work and I wasn't sleeping. I finally told my doctor that I wanted further tests because I was scared of getting cancer of the esophagus front the acid. He finally mentioned that there was a bariatric center in my town (that I wasn't aware of) and referred me. I got an appointment where t…

I have had my band since 2012. I don't know if anyone else has this issue, please let me know if it may not be normal. When I actually get hungery and my stomach growls I have to eat something within 10 to 15 or it turns into server gas pains. It is agonizing until I get something on my stomach. After I eat a little something the gas will "work it's way out" so to say. This has been like this for a about a year. Does anyone else have this issue? I was banded on February 6, 2015. I've read so many threads on here since even before my surgery and it's been so helpful. I just haven't really connected with anyone that was banded around the same time as me as I'm interested in others progress and if mine is normal. I started my pre-op diet on January 27th. As of April 27 (3 months), I've lost 48.5lbs. I have a lot of weight to lose, so even though I've already lost 48.5lbs, I have another 150lbs to lose. Im definitely not in the green zone as I feel very little restriction in my band. I just have exercised the pounds off. What I've done so far I could've done without the band bc it wasn't really helping me any until a…

Hey there - I had my Lap Band placed on December 28th 2015 and I am struggling. Could really use some help/support. The first couple weeks were easy enough since I was in recovery. Barely had any appetite, stuck to my liquid diet, and allowed myself to heal. I gained my appetite back during the mushies phase but was quickly and easily satisfied on small amounts of food. It felt great to not be at the mercy of my normally insatiable appetite. Well, now my stomach is completely healed and it's like I don't have a band at all. I knew this was coming, but I didn't realize how I'd react to it. I find myself back in my old ways for some meals - not quite as bad as bef…
