One week down and I've been doing pretty well. I was kind of in a funk yesterday afternoon. I wasn't hungry but I was craving food just for the taste and texture. I also was feeling very uncomfortable. A lot of pressure, heartburn type pain, just kind of an upset tummy, but not in a nauseous way. I started feeling like "This is not what I signed up for" I don't want to lose weight because I feel like crap all the time and don't want to eat because of it". I had that same feeling with some appetite supressents and it sucked. I didn't feel this way at first, so I thought it was moving to full liquids. I also tried to think of what might be causing more air/gas to build up…

Hi everyone, I had a fill today for the first time in almost two years; I'm up to 7cc now. But ever since the fill I have been throwing up a 'foamy' vomit (sorry if this grosses anyone out) & I haven't eaten or drank anything since the fill. So no food coming up just the foam and saliva. Any advice???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Question for those who hit the sweet spot: What does hunger feel like now? How does it feel to be "full" on the lap band? Can anyone describe it for me? Just wondering what I'd be looking for after I get the surgery and start having fills. Thanks!

Okay so I ate 3 oz of food for lunch. I got full before I even finished it, but I finished it anyway. It was one scrambled egg and one peice of sausage which I then weighed out. Two and a half hours later, I'm starving. Since I got full so quick, shouldn't the feeling last so much longer than 2 and a half hours???

  6. Hi all, I've never posted before so bear with me. I had my band surgery in Maryland in 2010. A few months later my husband got a new job in Texas and we moved. A year and a half later we moved again to western Washington. I've struggled since then to find doctors that will accept patients who had their bands done by another surgeon. The ones I have found have no interest in actually helping me get back on track with my weight loss. They are there for fills and fills only. One honest doctor said "I am only interested in surgery, the aftermath is not my problem." Has anyone else encountered this? Do your doctor's accept already banded patients? Maybe I was spo…

Hello friends!! I am looking for fellow lapbanders that are in and around the SGV area! Would really be nice to have a group of local friends that know the ups and downs of being a bander. Also it'd be nice to find someone to walk with, and to eventually workout with! Hope to hear from you all soon!!

I had my lap band surgery on the 16 January 2014. It took me a while two years to make up my mind. I am so happy that I did this surgery. Since the 16th January 2014 I have lost 7 kg. I had no complications, I felt positive and determined. I am not a young person anymore but very young at heart. I am 54 years of age.

just wondering to anyone who has the lap band if you have gone through pregnancy how was it with the lap band? I am terrified for the future when I'm ready to have a baby about having my lap band in. I'm mostly scared about my port because it's placed near my upper abs. I keep thinking how painful it will be when my stomach grows bigger and if the port site will hurt or cause a problem. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Not so much the Botox thing (although i would if i were a rich woman) but other stuff.... Like, why am i still looking for validation in my life...? Why when people say... your pretty, your a beautiful person (inside and out), you thin, in great shape... Why do i not see that... and still seek others approval only to not believe them.... Hi all, so I've had my band for over 2 years. We where having fertility treatments since last September. The tablets I was on made me really sick so much I couldn't drink because my stomach must have swelled so much. I went back to the nurse who has done all my fills and she told me that I had to have my band emptied. In the past few months since its been empty I have put on nearly 2.5 stone!! I can't say I have been eating really bad or to be totally honest really good!!! Probably just the same food as I was with my band full but slightly bigger portions. And I'm also into a lot of raw fruit/veg juicing I use this as my Breakfast where as before I used to skip breakfast …

Hi All. I'm new here - just beginning my liquid diet to loose 15 lbs before my surgery in Feb. I've pointedly asked my surgeon what are the realistic weight loss number for those over 50. And honestly she was very evasive. I'd like to loose 100+ pounds. Is this possible? How is everyone else doing?

Hi all, I had my LB surgery a week ago and am recovering well. I have no problems with full liquids and and yesterday tried some purée. Sometimes I have been getting some discomfort in my chest that feels a little like indigestion & I am wondering if this is actually what my new "full" feels like, or if it's just part of the healing process. My band was put in empty, so in theory there should be minimal restriction, but I'd be interested to hear from other banders how they know when they are full? Thanks!

  39. Started by needtorecover,

So I had my first fill at 2 cc's. This happened a week ago. The PA told me that I probably wouldn't feel different at all and would need a couple more fills before I noticed any restriction. I have noticed a difference though... and I can't tell if it's like a placebo effect or if it's the band working. Was curious to know how others felt after their first fill or two. I'm definitely hungry between meals (which, from my understanding, you shouldn't be) and am very eager to start in on my next meal when it's time. I eat Breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. The thing is, I'm full after half a plate. I'm talking a regular sized plate, though, not a sal…

Hi Folks - I am a senior bander if you will. I was banded almost 12 years ago (January 17, 2004) I was lucky enough to conquer my weight loss goals to some degree....losing over 100 lbs in the first 18 months....but sadly I feel that my journey is coming to an end. I seem to be experiencing constant acid reflux and indigestion and I am fearful that it is a result of the aging band. Back in the day when I was banded it wasn't as common as it is now. The doctor that banded me (now since retired) said that the implant had approximately a 10 year lifespan. And this is really my question to everyone today....does anyone actually know the lifespan of the these bands? Is …

  42. Started by Green1,

I know many people have issues with the lap band. If someone realizes they made some sort of mistake getting the band.. and it effects their life in a negative way.. can they get it removed? The doctor told me after 3 years I could get it removed if I want. I get a lot of discomfort because of the surgery.. he said it has something to do with the port. I know many people get the lap band surgery removed in an emergency.

  43. Wow, has it been awhile since I've posted here... glad to be back, but wish it was under better circumstances. To give backstory - I had lap band surgery on May 6th, 2013 - just days after my 21st birthday (I am now 23) - and it was one of the best decisions I could've made for myself. My highest weight was 357 lbs, and by September I had lost 90 lbs (with about 4.5 cc / 14). During that August, I dealt with extreme dehydration/nausea (I was throwing up everything) and had to be hospitalized several times to get the necessary IV fluids. Nothing was wrong with the band and it was actually Prevacid that helped me recover, but during that time is when I had my first unfill…

We are always told that the scale isn't our only guide to measure our progress, and I've just had a big realisation of this. My scale hasn't moved much at all in the last couple of months - I've enjoyed a little too much festive and summer cheer!!!! However, I re-did my measurements this morning (last time was late November) and have had a very pleasant surprise... Bust - 105cm (a further 2cm gone) Waist - 98cm (a further 4cm gone) Hips - 121cm (exactly the same) So if you are feeling dejected by an unfriendly scale, then whip out the friendly tape measure!!!!

I've had my band since 2010. In 2014, it was emptied due to pain and severe GERD issues. It's been empty ever since as the acid had never really gone away. At the time, during the ER visit, a barium swallow showed it was still in place and so it was left alone except for being emptied. The last couple months, my abdomen is just always bloated, tight, and often there's pain, with continued acid. I went to my regular GI last week because I'm having spells of nausea and lightheadedness, flushing and just general sick feelings, sometimes after eating and often before a bowel movement. He sent me for a CT scan yesterday and immediately called me to tell me there is air around …

I got a fill last Thursday 2/4. It was fill of 0.5cc. I'm not sure how much I have in my band but I think it's about 6cc. After I was on liquid and mushy and back on regular food every time I eat I get this loud gurgling and while I'm not stuck it's loud and embarrassing. My restriction is high. I also have a hard time eating before 2-3pm. The morning is really hard even if it's yogurt and Soup with quinoa yesterday was a chore. After about 2-3pm my band gets looser and it's easier to eat. I am losing weight but wondering if this is too tight. I'm writing this after eating some oatmeal and trying not to have the gurgles be too loud for coworkers.

But thankful to be using them on vacation ????????????

Anyone else have an issue getting stuck on fish such as salmon and other meaty fish? I tried to order this a few times at business lunches and it's not been successful. I have learned to slow down and take small bites so it's not a complete stuck episode but I have to go to the bathroom and lean over to get it to go down. This last fill that I got last week is really giving me restriction. I have to be very mindful (not a bad thing!) of what I eat now.

Hi, I was wondering if any of you have lost a significant amount of weight on the pre op liquid diet? I had my lapband surgery several years ago so I don't remember if I did or not. I have recently began following the pre op liquid diet with my friend because she is getting the sleeve in a couple weeks, plus it seems to be helping with my horrible acid reflux. If it could get me back on track and help jump start my weight loss, that would be terrific! Thanks!
