Does Banding Work if you're over 50?

Hi All.

I'm new here - just beginning my liquid diet to loose 15 lbs before my surgery in Feb. I've pointedly asked my surgeon what are the realistic weight loss number for those over 50. And honestly she was very evasive.

I'd like to loose 100+ pounds. Is this possible? How is everyone else doing?

Zip nada.....I eat less then 1000 cal a day and walk on the tread mill 30 min 5 days a week and active on the weekends,,,,,no liquid cal. Just Water and stil nada.

I was 54 when i got mine last sept and lost 70 lbs in 9 mos. have not lost anymore in past 3 mos, but i know why. Have 40 left to lose, and will get there! Hang in there! Everyone is different! Talk to your surgeon about your concerns . They are there for you! Good luck! Keep us posted !

Yes you can!!!

I was banded at 52, down 88 lbs at 56. There has been some slow Patches but I am still losing weight. If I lost no more, I am very happy to be down by 88 lbs.

Hi,

I think the main thing, regardless of your age, is to be dedicated. You should use the band as a tool to a better way of eating and not as way to solve all you eating issues. I speak from experience.

Good luck!

Teresa

I am 52 & was banded 3 years ago took some time but if YOU work on YOUR part the band will also help but YOU also have to do YOUR part to be successful , I was banded at 50 & I have lost 155#s so yes Men & Women it works if you work it.
