Hello! I had made a pervious post about how I got my band in 2013 and after only two fills lost my job and couldn't pay out of pocket anymore so I haven't had a fill since April 2014. In the last two years I've gained and lost on my own but I have an appointment with my surgeon in Wednesday for my first fill. Unfortunately I am moving to a different state in 3 weeks but I was hoping to fill it passed what it was filled last time (7cc) and get it taken out of needed. My tea question is I think my band is okay and the woman scheduling me didn't say anything when I made the appt but do I have to do anything special if it's been two years? Also: I feel like I never lost…

Hi I have a question about how you know if your In The green zone. I was banded 14/6 and have had 2 fills so still quite new to all this. After my last fill I haven't really been hungry at all but my stomach rumbles when it's empty but I still don't really feel hungry but I have to eat or it starts hurting. Not sure what I have lost since last fill as I weigh myself only at the doctors (I go back in 10 days) but was wondering if this is the green zone??? And does everyone feel like this? Thanks

I have never had GERD/reflux my entire life. I have never even had regular heartburn. The last 2 weeks I have woken up with acid in my esophagus. Today I had reflux all day. I took a Pepcid but I'm scared about this new symptom. I have not been eating that great but I have eaten worse. Anyone have GERD after banding? I'm about 18 months out.

  5. I have had a band since 2006, but just starting getting fills again in March. I am only eating about a thousand calories a day. I do drink diet sodas, and water. I work out 2-3 times a week. I am a retired RN, and still can't figure this one out. Does my body think I am starving? Please respond with help.

  6. Well...it finally happened. I had to leave the table and go to the ladies room to bring up food. I've been a little stuck on several occasions recently, but have always been able to wait it out and let the food go down on it's own. Tonight...no such luck. I was actually at Yankee Stadium in the Jim Beam Lounge with my boyfriend..and totally off topic, loved watching the Mets beat the Yankees tonight. He said the best thing to eat at the stadium was the steak sandwich. He knows I'm banded and suggested we share a sandwich and some ribs. So we sit down and he tells me to try the sandwich first. It was delicious. I was talking and not paying attention as I shoul…

After cursing out everyone in the house the first week of the liquid preop. Then saying screw this and eating those delicious white chocolate macadamia nut cookies from the mall 3 days before surgery. To spending the day before surgery crying because of a broken heart. And being emotionally numb from it til I woke up in the recovery room today. I must say it worked out fine. My surgery was flawless. Now I am about to sleep my first night banded. The incision pain is about a 3. Just enough of a reminder to take it easy when moving around. I am starving though. But I am on clears so I am allowing myself to nibble jello and sip clear beverages unchecked. Tomorrow I am gonn…

Since my first fill on 8/5/16 I have had a nasty cough with a lot of mucus. That being said, I have not had any running nose or allergies to be causing this. Is this the "slime" i have read a little on? Again, I know this is gross, but once I cough it out I am ok for awhile. Is this lapband related? Sometimes it seems like it is from my lungs but other times I think it is just from my throat. It does seem to be worse after I eat.

  14. I wanted to join the conversation and share my story with anyone banded that's wondering "can I get mine out and be okay?" There isn't enough out there in terms of stories of people who've done it and done it successfully - and we need a better, more public conversation about this. Tonight, in the wee hours of my bed as I type this, I am 14 hours post op. I had my band removed today (well, yesterday), on Saturday June 25, 2016 somewhere between 11am and noon EST. I was banded for nearly thirteen years, since December 22, 2003. Imagine, I went into the OR to get my band having just turned 25 a few months earlier. I'm now down 75 pounds and have about another 30 to go. I exercise usually 5 to 6 days a week for 50 minutes a day but usually only get about 800 calories in with about 70 grams of protein. How much carbs are you suspose to get? I went to a nutritionist but she more focused on my diebeties then my band and wants me to slow down on exercise and get between 1200 to 1300 calories, less protein and more carbs. Now I'm confused. I'm on med for diabetes, anixity, and bipolar mania. I have severe manic depression and episodes. Sh…

I'm just trying to find someone who has had gastroparesis prior to getting lap band and if it has made it worse or better? I had my lap band surgery six years ago, and it's never been quite right. I've gone through periods of vomiting, then too little restriction, then too much restriction, depending on my fills and deflations. About a month ago, the mucus buildup became unbearable, and I couldn't eat a thing. My doctor was out of town, so I went to an office he uses on call, and they removed 3ccs of fill. Needless to say, my restriction was non existent, and I went kind of crazy with my eating. When my doctor returned he re-filled 2.5ccs. That was a week ago, and I'm still not feeling any restriction at all. Has this happened to anyone? I'm afraid something damaged my lap band, or it's…

They told me not to run anymore and to gain some weight back. I followed their directions and gained 15 lbs then 20 lbs but the pain was still there. I got depressed and gained another 20 lbs. So over all I gained back 55lbs. I did however keep 61 lbs off. I am back on a mission to lose the weight again and deal with the pain. Either way I'm in pain so I might as well be happy and healthy. :0) So if anyone would like to give me tips on how to start back over I would appreciate it. My best f…

Please explain what the green zone feels like? I went for a fill today after 4.5 years. I had 5.5ccs of saline in the band prior to the fill. I was given .5ccs which took me to 6ccs. I was too tight and threw up water while in the office. My doctor removed .25ccs to get me to 5.75ccs. I can easily drink water without any restriction. How do you know when you are in the green zone?

I have been banded for just about a year and have received fills almost every month since being banded. I have noticed and don't always give a whole lot of thought to it, but sometimes after eating my port will be tender. Often I will get up and walk around or stretch to try and make it more comfortable. It doesn't hurt necessarily, it is just a strange feeling. Does anyone else get this or know why this happens? 33. Hey everyone! I'm three days in and and it is very frustrating being in this liquid phase. I'm so over it! I know I can't force anything, but I feel like I need to try different (mushies) foods. But it's a process and I have to wait I suppose. I'm wondering if anyone else felt very disconnected the first few days, new band, new diet, new cravings... Etc. My biggest concern is will I ever be able to enjoy "regular" food (of course in moderation) again? If I want chicken nuggets once every month- will I be able to? It seems like the "normal" foods we eat before banding are out of the question. Of course, I am well aware of healthier eating habits that I can and will…

I'm getting re-banded next week- so excited. My band slipped and was removed 2yrs ago and I've gained 50lbs back. Ready for it to be back and the excess weight to go away! One major rule I broke last time was drinking soda and not waiting the specified times before and after drinking. As for the soda, I'm already thinking about what I could use to replace my beloved captain and Coke. So far I've only come up with using those crystal light packets and ordering Water and captain or vodka. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So, I was pretty sure I had reached my green zone. I was feeling good. Had a few incidents of getting stuck, but nothing major. I was losing weight pretty steadily. This was after only two fills. The nurse at the office was kind of on the fence of if we should fill a little more or not. She kind of convinced me to have a little bit more to help curb the afternoon hunger I would sometimes feel. Well, now I am miserable! I am probably going to lose weight faster, but I can barely eat anything. I get stuck a lot more on food that didn't bother me before. Ugh! Ugh! Ugh! I am 2.5 years out from having my band. Every time I think I have this thing figured out, I realize I don't have it figured out at all. I know what I'm supposed to do and feel my band is properly adjusted but the head hunger is just too much sometimes. A lot of it has to do with the ridiculous amount of stress in my life right now but that's not going to go away anytime soon so I have to get a grip and learn to come with it better. I have to figure out to avoid falling into that old habit of using food as a coping mechanism. And thinking I need to eat even when I'm not physically hungry.
